00:00First, as I was saying, I want to thank you for taking the time to speak to us and tell you that we are very happy to have you on our list of the 50 most beautiful characters of 2024.
00:13We have seen your work in Baby Reindeer and obviously we have been amazed by the character you have created and what you have achieved in that series.
00:23And precisely my first question was there. How did you have that role? How did Terry's character get into your hands?
00:32Well, it was an audition like any other. I received the script for the first chapter and a scene, that first scene where they meet in the pub.
00:47I did a recording on my computer with a friend and I sent it and then I did another one with two scenes and they gave me all the scripts for the complete series and I had a Zoom with Richard and the director Veronica.
01:06And then I had to wait two months and finally I went to London to do the camera test with Richard.
01:21So you got this job in a classic way, auditioning and working on it.
01:27Yes, absolutely.
01:29And one thing with the impact it has had. First, I don't know if it's a cliché question, but I don't know if at the beginning when you started recording this work and started making the series, reading the scripts,
01:43did you have an idea that it could have this impact or were you not so sure that it would get not only the viewers but also the name, what has resonated for its content?
02:00Well, reading the script had a very deep impact on me, so I knew that the series was going to have an impact on anyone who sees it.
02:20But I think it was a surprise that so many people around the world have seen the series and have had such an amazing reaction. I think that's unexpected and it's the biggest gift you can receive as an artist.
02:47You were born in Mexico, but you came to the United States early, right? When you were little, I think you were 6 years old. When did you come?
02:52At 8 years old.
02:54At 8 years old. How is your relationship with your home country? Do you go often? Do you have family there? Or don't you have the opportunity?
03:08My family still lives in Mexico, so of course I visit them when I can. I always miss Mexico and I always say that my foundation is Mexican.
03:31And it is with that perspective that I receive everything.
03:42It's like a filter that you have and filters your…
03:46Yes, yes. And I would like to return to living in Mexico as an adult to restore that connection with my country. And I hope that I can work in Mexico and in Spanish to recover a little more of that part of me.
04:08What feedback have you received from your family, from people who know you, due to the impact of the series, Baby Reindeer?
04:19Well, my family…
04:22I don't know if you have been called by people who haven't called you for a long time and suddenly they have recovered your number.
04:27Well, more than anything, they call my dad, his friends from elementary school, all the cousins, the uncles.
04:42Well, yes, it is something very special, I think, to be able to see a Mexican in a series like this. And with the emotional impact it has had, it is not every day that we have this opportunity.
05:02So it is with great pride that I represent Mexico and I think that pride, they, my family, share it with me.
05:13Last question, we are running out of time. This year we have chosen as a motto or theme of 50 more beauties, Beauties Everywhere.
05:24In what do you find beauty? In what moments of life, in what people, objects, situations, I don't know if there is something where you find beauty that maybe other people don't see?
05:35Well, many times I notice that even in the most difficult moments, maybe even when I'm crying, I find the ability to laugh.
05:57Because a friend or a colleague offers me a perspective of humor and I think it is a very human form of beauty, those moments of laughter during a perhaps difficult period.
06:22Well, I thank you very much, thank you for this moment, I know you are very busy, so we thank you very much. And well, we look forward to your new projects, your short film, and congratulations, not for what you have done, but for what you are going to do as well.
06:38Thank you very much.
