Creating a list of actors who have been criticized for their performances in movies can be subjective, but here are some examples based on public perception:

1. **Kim Kardashian**: Known primarily for her reality TV career, Kardashian's forays into acting have often been met with mixed reviews and criticism for her lack of experience and skill in the craft.

2. **Rob Schneider**: While Schneider has had success in comedic roles, some of his performances have been considered over-the-top or lacking depth, leading to criticism of his acting abilities.

3. **Jaden Smith**: Despite his early success in "The Pursuit of Happyness," Smith has faced criticism for some of his subsequent roles where his performances were seen as lacking emotional depth or maturity.

4. **Madonna**: A pop icon, Madonna has ventured into acting with varying degrees of success. Some of her performances have been panned for being awkward or unconvincing.

5. **Pauly Shore**: Known for his comedic persona, Shore's acting has been criticized for often relying on the same type of character and lacking versatility.

These actors have all faced scrutiny for their performances in various films, with criticism ranging from lack of skill to questionable casting choices. Opinions on acting ability can vary widely, and some actors may excel in certain roles while struggling in others.

00:07Welcome to WatchMojo, and today we're counting down our picks for the Top 20 Worst Movie Actors.
00:12My suit's turned black. I like it, but I think it's something bad.
00:16For this list, we'll be looking at the least convincing and most questionable film performers.
00:21Did we miss one actor that should have been on this list? Let us know in the comments below.
00:27Number 20, Dane Cook.
00:29Comedian Dane Cook took the world by storm in the 2000s,
00:32as one of the first performers to use MySpace to gain fame.
00:36He had some chances before that to act opposite Dennis Rodman in the movie Simon Says,
00:40which showed off his habit of overacting.
00:42Great, then all we have to do is come up with a plan.
00:45No, I will work on the plan.
00:47With increased attention for his comedy specials, Cook naturally received more opportunities to star in films.
00:52These included comedies such as Employee of the Month and Good Luck Chuck,
00:56which largely were considered lackluster rom-coms.
00:59The actor didn't attract the same attention as his stage performances,
01:02and was somewhat constrained by the scripts he was given.
01:04Controversies, including accusations of joke theft, followed him into the 2010s,
01:09when his screen parts started to slow down.
01:11Grandma, I think it's time that you invest in something a little less speculative.
01:16You really think I should take financial advice from you?
01:20One-nothing, Grandma.
01:21Number 19, Kim Kardashian.
01:23Kim Kardashian and her family have spent over a decade on the cover of tabloids,
01:27often earning the title Famous for Being Famous.
01:30Sometimes people forget that there was a time when she was more involved with making films.
01:34These might not have been substantial,
01:36but projects like Disaster Movie didn't inspire confidence in her as a commanding screen presence.
01:42Ow!
01:43Come on, crackhead White House, crystal skull.
01:46You sound like a crazy man.
01:48She's also worked with Tyler Perry in Temptation, Confessions of a Marriage Counselor.
01:52It's another supporting role that doesn't sell the celebrity as a natural actor,
01:56instead proving she's more uninterested in her performance style.
01:59Kardashian largely focuses on her business ventures these days,
02:02and steers clear of cinematic pursuits.
02:04No, I don't. I have a degree.
02:07A degree?
02:08Yes.
02:08A degree on the wall without labels on your back is nothing.
02:11Number 18, Neil Breen.
02:14He doesn't quite fit into the mainstream,
02:16but Neil Breen has amassed a fan base all his own for some outrageous acting.
02:20Breen is actually an architect,
02:22and his film work represent a passionate hobby that's been realized over the course of several movies.
02:27Oh, my God.
02:35His efforts have garnered terrible reviews, and that's putting it mildly.
02:39The performer certainly shows that he's an amateur,
02:41never able to sell any script or direct himself in a proper fashion.
02:45This doesn't even count his productions, which feature a wide array of ineffective elements,
02:50such as poor editing, sound, and casting choices.
02:53All this is to say, the artist needs to be seen to be believed.
02:57I've got so much to do, I'll never get done.
03:02I'm going to continue hacking into these government systems to see what I can find out.
03:08Number 17, Quentin Tarantino.
03:11Quentin Tarantino is arguably the most famous writer-director working today,
03:15creating cinema that blends entertaining dialogue with exciting genre elements.
03:19His talents as a filmmaker don't necessarily carry over into the acting realm.
03:23She comes home from work in about an hour and a half.
03:27Graveyard shift at the hospital.
03:29While he has a history of performing in some of his movies,
03:32they're largely supporting roles that distract audiences.
03:35He doesn't fit in with the tough guys in Reservoir Dogs,
03:38or add much to his masterpiece Pulp Fiction, other than some awkward line deliveries.
03:42His turn as an Australian in Django Unchained is definitely his least effective performance,
03:46taking away from the enjoyable film's final act.
03:49After completing the 2012 Western, he's avoided spending much time in front of the camera.
03:53Say they wipe him.
03:56Shut up, black. You ain't got nothing to say I want to hear.
03:58Number 16, Tara Reid.
04:01Following roles in movies like The Big Lebowski,
04:03Tara Reid first established herself as a star in the first entry of the American Pie series.
04:08When he's ready and I'm ready, it's got to be completely perfect.
04:12I want the right time, the right moment, the right place.
04:14She often finds herself in shallow parts that fail to set her apart from any number of actresses in her generation.
04:20Reid's appearance in the Sharknado series provides some laughs at her expense,
04:24especially when she gets the chance to fumble her way through an action sequence.
04:27Her film career did receive a small boost from the return of her Vicky character in American Reunion.
04:32There doesn't seem to be a significant comeback in her immediate future,
04:35but she's taken to lower-budget movies in the meantime.
04:38I'm glad you think so highly of me.
04:40Number 15, Jessica Alba.
04:43Jessica Alba was almost everywhere in the 2000s,
04:46appearing in films that spanned multiple genres and put her on Hollywood's A-list.
04:50The actress was part of two Fantastic Four entries that received mixed reviews,
04:54with her work as Susan Storm being an example of her blander than engaging efforts.
04:59It has to be the cloud. It's fundamentally altered our DNA.
05:02Let's not jump to conclusions. We need a massive amount of evidence before making that leap.
05:06Whoa!
05:06Her role in the comedy The Love Guru might have been a critical low point for her career.
05:11It was a notable misfire all around,
05:13including the fact that Alba isn't really known for her comedic abilities.
05:16The actress finally looked beyond her film work
05:19and started a massively successful business called The Honest Company.
05:22I mean, I didn't even ask for this job.
05:25I guess it's just my fate.
05:26Fate is a joke.
05:27Number 14, Rob Schneider.
05:30Following his exit from Saturday Night Live,
05:32Rob Schneider has often appeared in many supporting roles in Adam Sandler comedies.
05:37He often plays goofy characters that don't necessarily deserve their own film,
05:41With Schneider's solo efforts,
05:42he's attempted leading parts that feel unsubstantial and lacking in the hilarity department.
05:47Now that's good badger milk.
05:49The animal taps into his primal side,
05:51but doesn't give him much of a chance to shine.
05:53His other films, like The Hot Chick and Deuce Bigalow Male Gigolo,
05:57have aged poorly and feature the performer in mediocre scripts.
06:01Contemporaries like Sandler find a way to play characters for an entire movie,
06:04but Schneider has largely been unable to provide a compelling or truly likable performance on his own.
06:10How'd you get that job?
06:13I just kinda fell into it.
06:16I'm gonna kill my guidance counselor.
06:18Number 13, M. Night Shyamalan.
06:21M. Night Shyamalan is known as one of the more gifted and imaginative filmmakers of the late 1990s and early 2000s.
06:28He's made a wide array of horror films and thrillers that have been greatly acclaimed and or successful.
06:33I see dead people.
06:35Shyamalan also starred in a number of his projects,
06:38in roles that many people find distracting or downright bad.
06:41If there is a definitive part of his movies that people don't love,
06:44it ends up being one of his cameos that feels somewhat self-aggrandizing and take away from the larger production.
06:50The director keeps the small roles coming without an end in sight,
06:53but at least he avoids playing the main character.
06:56I guess if this is the end of the world, I'm screwed, right?
07:01People who kill reverend's wives aren't exactly ushered in the front of the line in heaven.
07:05Number 12, Jean-Claude Van Damme.
07:08Nobody would argue that Jean-Claude Van Damme isn't tough.
07:11The Belgian fighter clearly proved himself as an entertaining brawler in many films,
07:15although he never really established himself as a serious actor.
07:18Aren't you a little young for full contact?
07:21Aren't you a little old for video games?
07:24There's nothing wrong with this fact, but it has produced some mediocre acting work from him.
07:29Movies such as Bloodsport don't exactly contain an award-winning performance.
07:33In over-the-top adventures such as Street Fighter,
07:35Van Damme feels right at home as a guy who is not bound by the method or technique of any kind.
07:40His projects might be exciting,
07:42but they never convince the audience that the star is all that emotionally invested in the story.
07:46Now, who wants to go home?
07:49And who wants to go with me?
07:53Number 11, Jaden Smith.
07:55Jaden Smith started acting at a young age,
07:58starring alongside his father Will in films of all kinds.
08:01It's fair to say that he was much younger and less in control of his career than other actors on this list.
08:06This doesn't necessarily mean that he's off the hook either,
08:08but he does enter into the nepotism debate.
08:11Don't ever let somebody tell you you can't do something.
08:17Not even me.
08:20All right?
08:21He's playing a regular kid without any kind of spark in various movies that include the remake of The Karate Kid.
08:26Some of the efforts with his dad seem as if he was dragged along,
08:29not necessarily invested in the experience.
08:31Later work, such as After Earth, captures him as an awkward teenager in a project that asks too much of him.
08:37I was not advanced to Ranger.
08:42You were not advanced to Ranger.
08:45I was not advanced to Ranger, sir.
08:48Number 10, Taylor Lautner.
08:50Starring as Jacob in the Twilight films,
08:52Taylor Lautner went from a working actor to a teen heartthrob almost overnight.
08:57Lautner's turn as the werewolf spanned several sequels that didn't receive great reviews.
09:01I kissed Bella.
09:07And she broke her hand, punching my face.
09:11He was essentially just a pawn in a soap opera,
09:14never taken seriously as an actor during the height of his success.
09:17The performer spent the remaining 2010s trying to break out from the stigma of the series
09:21with a mix of rom-coms and action flicks.
09:24In Abduction, he attempted to break out of the teen idol status
09:27and mostly felt out of place in a more of a thrilling setting.
09:31His place in Hollywood was uncertain after he was dubbed as a physical presence
09:34rather than a nuanced artist.
09:36So I had to wait four years for you to ask me out?
09:41Yeah.
09:43But you gotta admit, it was one pretty exciting first date.
09:47Number 9, Madonna.
09:49Rising through the 1980s as a certified pop star,
09:52Madonna was a force to be reckoned with on the Billboard charts.
09:56She's tried different roles in movies over the years, from concerts to fictional films.
10:00The singer even played a performer in Dick Tracy in a part that wasn't a huge stretch for her.
10:04Piano!
10:06That was a silly thing to do. He's the best piano player in town.
10:09Shut up!
10:10It's especially difficult to be hugely famous in one medium and then be convincing in another.
10:15Projects like Swept Away are hard to watch without being painfully aware
10:18that the vocalist is super famous and trying to become a character.
10:22Even her cameo in Die Another Day functions more as a parody than any sort of serious film appearance.
10:27I see you handle your weapon well.
10:30I have been known to keep my tip up.
10:35Number 8, Shaquille O'Neal.
10:37Shaquille O'Neal spent the 1990s and 2000s dominating in the NBA,
10:42winning multiple championship rings for teams like the Los Angeles Lakers.
10:46He also ventured into music and movies that received ridicule at the time.
10:50With few exceptions, his star vehicles like Kazam felt like a poor showcase of his charisma.
11:00Who dare to wake me?
11:04O'Neal has a natural ability and showmanship on the court that never translated to the screen.
11:10Regardless of the genre, the player felt out of place in everything from superhero films to Adam Sandler comedies.
11:16He makes occasional appearances to this day,
11:18but usually at his own expense in a self-aware parody of his acting abilities.
11:23Now, who's that sorry wannabe that disturbed my Z's?
11:29Number 7, Jamie Kennedy.
11:31Taking a wide range of supporting roles in the 1990s,
11:34Jamie Kennedy came to prominence as a comedian and comic relief character in many films.
11:39His most popular role arrived with his appearances in the Scream series.
11:43Jesus Christ, you don't know the rules?
11:45Having an aneurysm, why don't you?
11:47There are certain rules that one must abide by in order to successfully survive a horror movie.
11:52After leaving the horror franchise, Kennedy spent the 2000s exploring comedy with mixed results.
11:58It could be argued that his stock in Hollywood dropped with Son of the Mask.
12:01The sequel received terrible reviews,
12:03and the actor seemed to be miscast in a poor continuation of The Mask,
12:06unable to match Jim Carrey's original energy or likability.
12:10Some people enjoy his work in Malibu's Most Wanted,
12:13but the performer never quite had the comedic gravitas of a leading man.
12:16Hey, yo, Chris to the barista.
12:18Put on my camera,
12:20and throw in a white-chip macadamia-nizza cookie, too.
12:25Number 6, Hulk Hogan.
12:27For most wrestling fans, Hulk Hogan represents an entire era of entertainment with his wild personality.
12:33All my love slaves out there!
12:36Thunder Lips is here!
12:39In the flesh, baby!
12:40His appearances in movies are definitely not held to the same standard.
12:44Next to his brief role in Rocky III,
12:46most of his other work attempts to either put him up as an action hero or as a friend to small children.
12:51Unsurprisingly, his chaotic persona in The Ring doesn't always make for the greatest use on screen.
12:56It also doesn't quite work when he plays some kind of unconventional babysitter.
13:00Hogan's roles in Mr. Nanny and other 1990s movies come off as an attempt to pander to younger audiences.
13:06Now put the hat on,
13:09or I'll scream!
13:11Scream all you want.
13:12No way I'm wearing that thing.
13:14Number 5, Tom Green.
13:17Tom Green is a unique comedy figure that defies normal exclamation points
13:21with some believing him to be a genius
13:23that inspired all kinds of alternate and anti-comedy icons in the 2000s.
13:27Now if you'll excuse me, I still have some work to do.
13:30Daddy, would you like some sausage?
13:32Daddy, would you like some sausages?
13:34Daddy, would you like some sausage?
13:36Sausages! Sausages!
13:38Others feel that he's a bizarre and off-putting presence in any of his films.
13:43Many of his harshest critics cite Freddy Got Fingered as the nail in the coffin for his viable film career.
13:48While it wasn't the end for Green, the gross-out comedy defies the limits of good taste
13:53and was provocative in a way that many people found to be negative.
13:56His particular brand of humor and aggressive techniques
13:58have made some friends and enemies out of many audience members.
14:02I figured we could have a little breakfast
14:04and then maybe, after, we could have a little chad.
14:13Pauly Shore splashed onto the comedy scene in the early 1990s with a string of hit films.
14:18His entire persona revolved around a stoner-slash-surfer motif that many people found to be one note.
14:23It's not happening, Dave.
14:25I'm sorry, that's not how it works with friends, man.
14:28You don't bag your friends just because they get in your way no matter what, dude.
14:32Movies like Bio-Dome and Encino Man saw success in their day
14:35but haven't really made much of an impact past their initial release.
14:38Shore has a personality that can be grating to some and hilarious to others.
14:43The performer uses a unique vocal cry and delivery, which he employs for every single one of his projects,
14:48never veering too far from a similar setup of playing dumb characters.
14:52Excuse me, miss, are you tired?
14:55I beg your pardon?
14:56Are you tired?
14:57No, why?
14:58Because you've been running through my mind all day?
15:05In the 2000s, hotel heiress Paris Hilton became a widely known celebrity.
15:10This led to her near-ubiquitous presence in the entertainment industry,
15:13including a somewhat unconventional film career.
15:15Hilton starred in the horror remake House of Wax,
15:18playing one of the many victims in a largely forgettable role.
15:21Carly, don't even think about knocking on it.
15:24I'm not.
15:25Good, because you know how proud I am of you.
15:27It's just an internship at InStyle magazine.
15:30Or I would rather stay at the Waffle House as a waitress forever.
15:33The main problem with her acting is that she has a monotone quality
15:37and doesn't seem very interested in the material.
15:39She also starred in one of the worst movies of the decade, entitled The Hottie and the Naughty.
15:44It tried to present her as a version of the blonde stereotype,
15:46with some offensive jokes thrown into the mix.
15:49Most people would argue that her singing career was much more engaging than anything she did on film.
15:53And all through school, I went out with practically any guy who asked.
15:58I didn't know the meaning of the word no.
16:02Along with some questionable connections to Vladimir Putin,
16:05actor Steven Seagal has made a handful of mistakes in his cinematic career.
16:09He might just beat us up for writing this,
16:11but we're pretty sure he's been eclipsed by much better action stars at every turn.
16:15So who are you?
16:16Are you, like, some special forces guy or something?
16:20I'm just a cook.
16:23A cook?
16:24Just a lowly, lowly cook.
16:26Some of his acting sounds like whispering in several scenes that will make you turn up the volume.
16:31When he's trying to fight, he doesn't seem to bring much energy to the sequences themselves.
16:35His arrogance allegedly extended to behind-the-scenes stories
16:38as many people have acknowledged him as a difficult collaborator.
16:41I have a warrant for the arrest of one Hannah,
16:43and I need you to send that warrant. I'm sure he's right back there.
16:46I let you in, I lose my job.
16:48Well, that'd be better than losing your teeth, don't you think?

17:09Tommy Wiseau is the director, writer, and lead actor in The Room.
17:14He's also become a cult figure for his work on the film,
17:16which remains a midnight movie staple around the U.S.
17:19Wiseau plays Johnny in a role that's full of eccentric acting choices.
17:23You're scaring me.
17:25You are lying. I never hit you.
17:28You are tearing me apart, Lisa!
17:30His line deliveries are the stuff of legend,
17:33making viewers question their own sanity during some scenes.
17:36He famously walks out onto the roof in a legendary line
17:39that includes an unbelievable non-sequitur.
17:41I did not hit her. It's not true. It's bullshit. I did not hit her.
17:45I did not.
17:47Oh, hi, Mark.
17:48The entire experience inspired a book by co-star Greg Sestero,
17:51which describes the bizarre tale of working with a performer.
17:54It's clear from each individual set piece
17:56that the man is making the most unique choice he can at any given moment.
18:00Thank you, honey. This is a beautiful party.
18:02You invited all my friends. Good thinking.
