00:00According to new research, steep cuts to the youth sector in the UK has left three-quarters
00:07of 16 and 19-year-olds unable to get support. It was reported that one in 10 said they have
00:13zero options to access youth work. As a result, youth groups are urging the new government
00:18to invest in youth services in order to help young people who continue to deal with the
00:22lasting impacts of the COVID pandemic, the cost of living crisis and a mental health
00:27epidemic. According to estimates by the trade union Unison, 4,500 youth workers have been
00:33lost between 2012 and 2023. The two biggest reasons young people polled across England
00:39wanted more youth work provisions was in the hopes it would build their confidence, closely
00:43followed by the ambition to learn new things and make friends. In further research, UK
00:49youth estimated that every £1 government invests in youth work is set to benefit the
00:53taxpayer by at least £3.20. So what do you think? What more do you think should be done
00:58to help benefit young people?
