00:00Welcome to Watch Mojo Español, I am Jackie and today we will show you our top 20 of the fan theories about horror movies that came true or were confirmed by the creators themselves later on.
00:22We will also include predictions about the next movies that also hit,
00:28the spoilers of this list, however, are not theoretical.
00:32Number 20. The Thing.
00:37As you surely know, the key feature of The Thing is its ability to imitate any form of life it assimilates.
00:45This led the fans of the 1982 classic to wonder how it would look if they stripped it of all its glamour.
00:54With the prequel of 2011 of the same name, the director Matthias Van Heiningen Jr. answered this question by stating that it looks less like a real creature and more like a virus.
01:08It's like a virus. So what do we do with any virus?
01:13Quarantine. We isolate it and then we kill it.
01:19Of course, we would prefer information from the original teacher John Carpenter, but he has been very cautious with the details, saying that he knows who the Thing is at the end of his movie, but that we will never know.
01:35If you're worried about me...
01:36If we've got any surprises for each other, I don't think we're in much shape to do anything about it.
01:43Number 19. Nope, it's about aliens. Nope.
01:48Since Get Out, Jordan Peele's movies have inspired an endless analysis and theories, even when they have not yet been released.
01:58With the promotional materials they also gave clues for the public to create theories, the first posters presented certain things in a deliberate way.
02:09While the first of Us had a character holding a pair of scissors, Nope's poster only showed us a cloud with a comet tail.
02:19With the details of the story pending, fans immediately began to speculate that inside that cloud there was an unidentified flying object.
02:34Indeed, the movie ended up presenting a UFO, only no one could have predicted its true and beastly nature.
02:50Number 18. Sidney and Mark ended up together. Scream 3.
02:56Sidney Prescott didn't have the best luck with relationships, although of course she deserved a happy ending.
03:03And of course she did, but we didn't know for a while.
03:07In Scream 3, the last girl in the franchise seems to have some chemistry with the detective from the Los Angeles Police Department, Mark Kincaid.
03:18But we don't know what happens to them later.
03:28The last time Mark was seen in the epilogue of the movie, he became friends with the gang, which left the fans wondering if what happened between them had become a friendship or something else.
03:42When it seemed that they would never clarify this to us in any sequel, the fifth installment, 22 years later, confirmed to us that Sidney and Mark were not only married, but had children.
03:55Do we? Oh my God, how long has it been? I'm just trying to get a run in before I take the girls to school. How are you?
04:03I'm good, really good. How are you? How's Mark?
04:06I think I'll keep him.
04:08Now, what are the chances that McDreamy will reappear in a Scream set?
04:14Number 17. Michael Bay's shared universe. Friday the 13th and the Transformers franchise.
04:22This theory is more subtle than the previous ones, so pay attention.
04:27As many of you know, Michael Bay directed the first real-life action movie, Transformers.
04:33As few of you know, he also produced several horror remakes, including Friday the 13th of 2009.
04:40What both movies share is actor Travis Van Winkle, who plays characters named Trent in both.
04:52Of course, the characters have different surnames, something proven in the novelizations and deleted scenes.
05:01We'll let you decide if this kills the canon, but the same idiotic attitude of the characters has led many to believe they are the same.
05:10Why doesn't my little bunny just hop in the back seat?
05:12Oh, God, I can't even tell you how much I'm not your little bunny.
05:17Several publications have reported that Bay himself confirmed it, but it is difficult to find the original source of this.
05:24Even so, Michaela did well to leave it, otherwise she would also have ended up in Crystal Lake.
05:35Number 16. Midsommar is a fairy tale.
05:40This theory goes deeper into the themes than into the dynamics of the plot, but it is still fascinating anyway.
05:47The shocking movie by Ari Aster, Midsommar, follows Dani, a young woman who suffers the tragic loss of her family in the first minutes.
05:56Later she joins her boyfriend and friends on a trip to Sweden, where they study and congratulate each other with a pagan cult.
06:04Of course, things don't go well, as Dani's friends are murdered before she is crowned the Queen of May.
06:23Many of the first viewers compared the scenes with the dynamics of the fairy tales of the old school,
06:29and it wasn't long before Aster shared the same feeling.
06:34Now that it's a fairy tale, there's only one thing left to do.
06:38Wait for the Disney version.
06:40Number 15. Clover is a creature of the sea depths.
06:45Cloverfield. The Cloverfield franchise has been characterized by mystery,
06:50even using it in the marketing campaign for the first movie.
06:54Naturally, making a first-person movie with a found footage,
06:59Cloverfield focuses more on the experiences of the characters, who suffer the monster's attack,
07:05and less on the background story of the creatures.
07:08This led the fans to look for their own explanations,
07:12like Clover was from outer space, but the producer J.J. Abrams denied it.
07:18Rather, the alternative theory that the monster came from the Atlantic Ocean,
07:23after being awakened by humans, was confirmed in complementary material.
07:41The producer also confirmed that this Clover was a baby,
07:46which explains why the one seen in the Cloverfield Paradox is much bigger.
07:57Number 14. Scream 6.
08:01This wasn't Scream's first installment, and it won't be the last either.
08:05Although it wasn't a constant, it seemed that the franchise started to be characterized
08:10by having two killers per movie.
08:14But the fan theory said that in reality, the killers are three per movie,
08:20and they ended up being right.
08:22Although Scream 2 originally had this idea before a script leak forced them to take a turn,
08:29in the end it happened that in Scream 6, it was revealed that Bailey's family
08:33is behind the murders in New York City.
08:43I don't know what you believe, but I didn't commit those murders in Woodsboro, it wasn't me.
08:48How do we know that? Of course you didn't.
08:49What, do you think this is based on some f***ing conspiracy theory?
08:53However, technically speaking, you could count four killers if you include Jason
08:59from the beginning of the movie.
09:01Now I see something red.
09:05Number 13. Jason is dead.
09:07Jason Goes to Hell, The Final Friday.
09:10Again, this is only the interpretation of the director of a sequel, but it counts for this list.
09:31In the ninth Friday the 13th movie, Jason Goes to Hell, you can see the Necromicon,
09:36also known as the Book of the Dead,
09:39along with the Daga Candaria of the Evil Dead franchise.
09:42It's just a reference, but according to the director Adam Marcus, it's a complete explanation.
09:48His reasoning about the evil and zombie nature of Jason
09:52comes from the reading of the book by Mrs. Borges to give his son back his life.
09:58Believe it or not, it is reported that he had the approval of the creator of Evil Dead, Sam Raimi.
10:04And of course, the closest to a real crossover we will have is the miniseries of comics Freddy vs. Jason vs. Ash.
10:14Number 12. Predators meet aliens.
10:18Alien vs. Predator.
10:20Of course, the movie of Alien vs. Predator exists in its own branch of the universe
10:26and without a doubt answers some questions about the two species.
10:31In Predator 2, the fans noticed a xenomorph skull as a trophy aboard the ship Yauha.
10:37Given the animal nature of the first and the hunter nature of the second,
10:42this essentially confirmed that one species fed on the other.
10:46But some fans speculated that everything went much further than that.
10:51Since the reproduction of xenomorphs can be a controlled process,
10:55some thought that the predators could have done it with the express purpose of hunting them.
11:01And indeed, the first crossover reveals that they have been doing this for thousands of years,
11:07no less than with human incubators.
11:26That if the predators created the xenomorphs directly, it is a completely different theory.
11:32Number 11. Time Travels.
11:34Blair's Witch Project.
11:36Blair's Witch Project is a movie that is better to leave in the ambiguity.
11:41But what about the sequels?
11:44With the few details given about the real plot of the first movie,
11:48some fans have come to the conclusion that the three characters were transported
11:53to the 1940s by the witch before meeting the cabin of Rustin Parr.
12:05It is a bit complicated to explain here, but the manipulation of time
12:09is at least confirmed in the sequel of 2016, simply titled Blair Witch.
12:15In it, the main characters separate in the forest before meeting,
12:20only there is a significant disagreement about how long it has been.
12:34Since the existence of the witch is apparently confirmed,
12:37so is its ability to manipulate the perception of time.
12:42Number 10. A Different Death.
12:44Pet Sematary.
12:46When you are remaking a well-known horror movie,
12:49you often want to stay within the general limits of the original,
12:54but modify some small details to keep things interesting.
12:59With this in mind, the fans foresaw a way in which Pet Sematary of 2019
13:05could make the classic story very unique.
13:14In Stephen King's novel and its 1989 adaptation,
13:19the boy Gage Creed dies tragically run over by a truck at full speed,
13:25and his father Louis revives him in the mystical grounds beyond the cemetery.
13:30The problem is that nothing is the same again,
13:33since Gage has an older sister, Ellie, in each version,
13:37the fans thought it could be interesting if she were who she became.
13:42This was confirmed when the second trailer of the remake was released.
13:58Number 9. Michael Myers is cursed.
14:01Halloween franchise.
14:04No!
14:07The 80s were flooded with slasher villains,
14:11apparently impossible to kill, most of them silent and heavy.
14:16Although the fans found a series of explanations,
14:20this 1995 sequel can be proof that it is better to leave some things to the imagination.
14:34In the curse of Michael Myers, at least the producer's version revealed
14:40that the villain was actually included in Thorne's cult,
14:44which is imbued with supernatural abilities and the impulse to kill his family
14:50to ensure the prosperity of the community.
15:03Honestly, it's a bad narrative in any way you look at it,
15:07but luckily this is just one of the many continuities of Halloween,
15:12so you don't have to watch it if you still want to enjoy the franchise.
15:25Number 8. Kirby's survival.
15:33Are you okay?
15:37Perfect.
15:38The Scream franchise has so many favorite characters from the fans
15:42that it became known for revealing at least one survivor sometime after the climax.
15:48However, the fate of a character that remained in the air for several years
15:52was that of Kirby Reed from Scream 4.
15:55Shh, shh, shh. I know, I know.
15:58It's okay, you take your time.
16:00It doesn't happen as fast as it does in the movies, I know.
16:02After being stabbed twice and given for dead by Charlie,
16:06it seemed likely that he had bled out before the authorities arrived.
16:11Later, Dewey only informs Jill about Sidney's survival,
16:15but the fans theorized that the family confidentiality laws
16:20could have prevented her from mentioning Kirby.
16:23What? I didn't, but I saw Trevor kill her.
16:27Look, we don't know yet, but she's hanging on.
16:32It seemed that we would never know when the initial plans for the sequels were archived,
16:37but finally Scream, from 2022, confirmed that he would have survived with a subtle reference.
16:43Then Hayden Panettiere resumed the role in Scream 6,
16:47only this time the confirmation that he survived is much more evident.
16:52I saw that in a scary movie once.
16:54Number 7, Get Out, is a sequel to Dean Hjelmankovic.
16:59I know, I know, I know, I know.
17:01I'm trying to work towards this.
17:03Look, what I'm about to tell you is going to sound crazy.
17:06Are you ready?
17:07Try.
17:08Try me.
17:09Okay, this is almost too ridiculous to be true,
17:13but when the creator confirms it, can we really discuss?
17:17Can I be anybody that I want to be?
17:20Well, you...
17:23Actually...
17:24You can be John Malkovich.
17:26It's perfect!
17:28It's my second choice, but it's wonderful.
17:31This theory arises from the inclusion in the films of the actress Catherine Keener.
17:36Supposedly Keener plays the same character,
17:40who after having experience in managing a business through which people can enter
17:45and control the mind of John Malkovich,
17:48assumes a new identity and associates with the elders to change things.
17:53He marries a member of the Armitage family,
17:56who has experience in neurosurgery,
17:59and together they can perfect the process
18:01and start importing people to large-scale black bodies.
18:06Now, sink into the floor.
18:10Wait, wait, wait.
18:11Sink.
18:19It's ridiculous, yes,
18:21but the creator of Get Out, Jordan Peele, has said,
18:24in my opinion, it's true.
18:27There you have it.
18:38Number 6. Richie is gay, it.
18:41Actually, this theory goes back to Stephen King's original novel.
18:51The readers deduced that Richie's funny jokes about Eddie were more than friendly.
18:57Although King didn't write it intentionally that way,
19:01the theory resurfaced in 2017 with the arrival of the first movie adaptation.
19:13With the release of It, chapter 2, of 2019,
19:17Richie's sexuality was confirmed.
19:20Not only that, but the idea was solidified that Richie really felt something for Eddie
19:26before the death of the latter.
19:43Although it is known that King criticizes the important changes in his adaptations,
19:48he actually approved the official inclusion
19:51and described this added detail of the character as something very smart.
19:56It simply shows that stories constantly evolve, often for good.
20:07Number 5. Split happens in the universe of The Protected.
20:11For many, the release of Split, of 2016,
20:15marked the return of writer and director M. Night Shyamalan.
20:19Some suspected beforehand that it was a clandestine sequel to Unbreakable, of the year 2000.
20:38Although Split is basically an independent psychological thriller,
20:42the fact that it focuses on a murderer with dissociative identity disorder
20:47with a personality capable of altering the physical structure and imbuing superhuman abilities
20:53made people wonder if they happened in similar spaces.
20:57This is so cool!
21:03They're gonna believe we exist now, right?
21:08They're gonna have to.
21:10Seeing that conversations about a sequel to the superhero movie of Shyamalan Unbreakable
21:16were happening almost at the same time,
21:18fans wondered if this and Split were almost the same.
21:23Fortunately, the secret was well kept for most viewers,
21:28so the appearance of David Dunn as Bruce Willis ended up being a surprise.
21:34Is this like that crazy guy in the wheelchair that gave me away 15 years ago?
21:39And he gave him a funny name too.
21:42What was it?
21:44Mr. Glass.
21:46Yes.
22:02We all gotta get off.
22:04What are you talking about?
22:05The bridge is gonna collapse.
22:07What?
22:08We're all gonna die.
22:16and that the main characters are actually on flight 180 of the original movie.
22:32What's all that about?
22:34I have no idea.
22:35It's an interesting twist and the movie had the highest ratings of the franchise.
22:40Still, we can't stay away from the deductive fans,
22:44since this point of the plot became a popular theory in advance.
22:49When they saw the movie and noticed subtle clues,
22:53such as the time signatures, they knew that the revelation was imminent.
23:09Lawrence Gordon became an accomplice.
23:13The Saw franchise had 7 movies premiered every October between 2004 and 2010,
23:19but it wasn't until the supposed final chapter that the oldest question was answered.
23:25What happened to Dr. Gordon?
23:33In one of the most shocking endings in the history of cinema in the original Saw,
23:38Gordon amputated his foot and walked away in search of help.
23:42The idea that Gordon would bleed out seemed anticlimactic to the fans,
23:47so his survival made more sense.
23:50However, since he would need immediate medical attention,
23:53and the fact that the bathroom is never discovered,
23:56led the fans to believe that his captors helped him.
24:00And since Jigsaw recruits multiple victims,
24:03it made sense for Gordon to join the team with a new life opportunity.
24:07And yes...
24:12Number 2. Jesus Christ was an engineer.
24:15Prometheus.
24:16This revelation doesn't really happen in the movie itself,
24:20and it would be crazy if it were.
24:22But anyway, it was confirmed by the director Ridley Scott.
24:38In this sci-fi and horror prequel of the Alien franchise,
24:42it is revealed that humanity was planted by an extraterrestrial race
24:46biologically similar, known as the Engineers.
24:50About 2,000 years before the events of the movie,
24:54the Engineers tried to kill humanity,
24:57but they didn't even make the trip to Earth.
25:07As for the timeline, the fans theorized
25:10that this was in conjunction with the days of Jesus Christ.
25:13In fact, Scott later clarified that the attempted genocide
25:17would have been in response to humans crucifying an Engineer emissary.
25:22But Scott later removed this detail for being a bit too direct.
25:37I'm a believer of the Prometheus.
25:39And I'm still searching.
25:42We haven't reached the end yet, but we're almost there.

25:51Very well, let's see our number 1 position.
25:54Number 1. Jack Torrance is the reincarnated caretaker.
25:58The Shining.
26:00Here's Johnny!
26:03The Shining.
26:05The Shining is one of those movies that transcends any interpretation,
26:10perhaps even that of its screenwriter and director.
26:13But for the sake of this list,
26:15we will refer to the statements made by Stanley Kubrick around 1982.
26:25Although it took time to develop the classic status of the movie,
26:29the unconditional cinephiles were already analyzing it.
26:33In this case, some took the appearance of Jack Torrance
26:36in a photograph taken at the Overlook in 1921
26:40as an indication that it was a direct reincarnation of a previous caretaker.
26:59While others infer other things like that Jack was absorbed by the hotel,
27:04Kubrick was actually a defender of the theory of reincarnation.
27:08Although his opinion certainly has more weight than others,
27:12we will always love to reflect on multiple interpretations
27:16with this infinitely disconcerting movie.
27:30And you, do you agree with our selections?
