02:09Right, good morning everybody.
02:24Today, the voters of Bury St Edmunds and Stowmarket have chosen change.
02:34And I thank them all from the bottom of my heart.
02:38I promise to work tirelessly with our fantastic new government
02:43to bring that change right here into the heart of Bury St Edmunds and Stowmarket.
02:49That is a solemn promise.

03:10including the brilliant post office workers, for this election.
03:14And I thank all of my opponents for the friendly and respectful way
03:19in which our election has taken place.
03:22And I wish all of them well in their future political endeavours.
03:26So Bury St Edmunds and Stowmarket is now in a Labour seat for the first time ever.
03:33We have a strong Labour Party.
03:35And I thank my campaign team for the amazing work we've done together in the last six weeks,
03:41all of whom have now become friends.
03:44I thank Cliff, leader of the West Suffolk Council,
03:48who so graciously welcomed me to the constituency six weeks ago.
03:52My agent, Marilyn Sayre, and the small team of Diane, Cheryl, Annabel, Tom and Will.
04:01And there were many canvassers who took to the streets to get our message out.
04:05But I must call out especially Roger, who's waited into his 80s to see this day.
04:12And to Lucy, who was our youngest campaigner, but easily our best informed campaigner.
04:18I thank all of my many friends and colleagues who have come to help with this great campaign.
04:24And I thank too many members of my family to name.
04:28But for my son Simon, my daughter Alice and her husband Nate,
04:34and my granddaughter Ada, aged one and a half, who just today learned to say Vote Labour.
04:42But I must make a special mention of my daughter Jane, who handled our social media.
04:48Finally, this adventure began when my wife Marion was elected as Sheriff of Norwich,
04:55the greatest honour our home city can bestow.
04:58And I began to meet politicians for the first time.
05:02Marion is my greatest supporter and best friend.
05:06And we will do this together and serve the citizens of Bury St Edmunds and Stowmore.
