A rescue operation saved 10 crew members from a sinking boat 2.1 nautical west of Tanjung Rhu, says the Selangor Malaysian Maritime Enforcement Agency.

00:00The Selangor Coast Guard saved 10 crew members from a sinking boat 2.1 nautical west of Tanjung Ruh in the wee hours of Monday.
00:11Selangor Malaysian Maritime Enforcement Agency Director Captain Abdul Mohamad Saleh said they launched a rescue operation at 3.35am after the boat crew reported a leak in the left ballast tank of the boat.
00:26He said despite the bad weather, they deployed a vessel to the scene, rescuing all on board before bringing them to Pulau Indah for medical checks.
00:35He said the captain of the boat is a 53-year-old Indonesian and the rest of the crew are aged between 19 and 50 from Indonesia and Myanmar.
00:45Earlier on Sunday, the agency stopped a boat carrying 30 more passengers than permitted.
00:51Abdul Mohamad said the boat was stopped approximately 0.3 nautical miles south of Tanjung Harapan while en route to Pulau Ketam.
01:00He said their inspection revealed that the vessel was carrying 45 passengers, exceeding the allowed capacity of 11 passengers and none of them were wearing life jackets.
01:11The boat was operated by two crew members aged 19 and 40 years old respectively and they have been detained to help with investigation.
