00:00The more you know who you are, and what you want, the less you let things upset you.
00:11Yeah.
00:12Welcome to Ms Mojo, and today we're counting down our picks for the film couples that shouldn't have called it off.
00:18Spoilers ahead.
00:22Sorry.
00:23No.
00:26Number 10. James and Madeline, No Time to Die
00:29Are we going to have a round about this?
00:32James Bond and Madeline Swan start off this film on a high note.
00:36They're enjoying their relationship until a bomb goes off.
00:44Followed by a tense car chase, Bond appears suspicious of Swan and breaks things off on the spot.
00:50How did they know I was here?
00:51What are you talking about?
00:52Madeline, how did they know I was here?
00:55He doesn't stop to consider other solutions, or that one of his many enemies could be behind the attack.
01:01The two then spend five years apart before rekindling their partnership.
01:05The agent could have called somebody to find out the truth, but he quickly broke up with Swan instead.
01:10So, this is it.
01:16This is it.
01:17It's unfortunate that the spy wasted so much time alone when he could have been happy.
01:22The tragic ending might be unavoidable, but this early mistake is almost unforgivable.
01:28We all have our secrets. We just didn't get to yours yet.
01:32Number 9. Colm and Porrick, The Banshees of Innishiren
01:37I just don't like you no more.
01:38Colm and Porrick are pals on an island off the coast of Ireland.
01:42One day, Colm chooses to totally cut ties with his friend.
01:46You do like me.
01:48I don't.
01:49It's a drastic choice that could have been solved by other means.
01:53He could just hang out with Porrick less, rather than hacking off some fingers.
01:57But Colm refuses to budge from his original plan.
02:00I have a set of shears at home, and each time you bother me from this day on,
02:05I'll take those shears, and I'll take one of my fingers off with them.
02:09They could also stay friends without having to meet at the pub.
02:12They could start writing letters to each other, or maybe meet up once a month instead.
02:17There are many solutions to this problem that would allow for both men to be happy.
02:21It's a tragedy Colm wouldn't even consider them.
02:24Some things there's no moving on from.
02:30And I think that's a good thing.
02:34Number 8. Luke and Romina, The Place Beyond the Pines
02:38Anything you want to tell me?
02:43Anything you think I might want to know before I leave here?
02:47Upon returning to Schenectady, stunt driver Luke Glanton learns that he has a child with former flame, Romina.
02:54He chooses to stick around even though she's moved on to another guy.
02:57If he took a normal job and settled down, Luke could easily hang around town and find a way to convince Romina to take him back.
03:04He instead chooses to rob banks in order to provide for his family, and that doesn't work out well.
03:11Police!
03:14It's clear that Luke and Romina have something special, with the anti-hero showing a genuine interest in both her and their child.
03:21He's not exactly perfect, but he could have made a few lifestyle changes in order to save his life and their relationship.
03:28I'm still his father. I can give him stuff. I got this for him, just give it to him. Tell him it's for me.
03:35Number 7. Jenny and Nate, Someone Great
03:38At the start of this romance, Nate Davis breaks up with his longtime girlfriend, Jenny Young.
03:43The latter spends the rest of the movie trying to make sense of her new life, but to do that requires getting closure on this unexpected breakup.
03:52Granted, Young is preparing to leave New York and move to San Francisco for a job.
03:56However, she is open to making any accommodation necessary for the relationship to continue.
04:01You're gonna tell me I don't love you when you're the one moving across country.
04:04If you can't make that work, what does that say about us?
04:06And rather than breaking up, such a move could have been the impetus for a marriage proposal or some other way of taking the relationship to the next level.
04:14I don't want to end us. I love you.
04:17I love you. I'm sorry about San Francisco. I can't turn down this opportunity, but we can try long distance.
04:26A dream sequence shows what could happen if her former partner returns, taunting viewers with an alternate ending.
04:33Maybe this whole thing implodes. Nothing works, but at least we try.
04:42Hey, Jenny. Jenny, baby.
04:45Number 6. Will and Skyler. Good Will Hunting
04:49You're an idiot. I've been sitting over there for 45 minutes waiting for you to come and talk to me, but I'm tired now and I have to go home.
04:55Will Hunting has his share of problems and struggles, but his budding relationship with Skyler is very promising.
05:02The janitor has great chemistry with the Harvard student, but it all comes undone after the hero breaks things off.
05:08Dealing with his trauma, Hunting builds a wall around himself and pushes people away.
05:13What aren't you scared of? You live in this safe little world where no one challenges you and you're scared shitless to do anything else.
05:19Don't tell me about my world. Don't tell me about my world.
05:22It's only at the end that he finally realizes that he's made a mistake.
05:27If the main character had accepted Skyler's love, he could have planned to move out to California with her.
05:33This simple fix would have guaranteed a much happier and satisfying conclusion for the two.
05:38The intelligent hero isn't done with therapy, but he could have been helped even more with his girlfriend's support.
05:44If the professor calls about that job, just tell him I'm sorry. I had to go see about a girl. Will.
05:52Number 5. Guy and Girl. Once
05:55Take this sinking boat and port it home.
06:03This sweet story of musicians in Dublin includes great songs and an unfulfilled romance.
06:09While playing music, the unnamed Guy and Girl also seem to be falling for each other.
06:14Each of them has their own lives and relationships to contemplate, but there's an undeniable connection between them.
06:20Guy fails to convince Girl to be with him despite the latter showing some interest in the possibility.
06:26Come on, don't wait too long. Look at me.
06:29Come on, we can write loads of songs and live in a nice flat. You can bring Havana over. It'd be brilliant. Come on.
06:34It's sad to see them go off on different paths, but it really stings knowing that they could have at least stayed together to record more music.
06:42And maybe let something more develop. As collaborators or lovers, both heroes seem destined to reunite.
06:49How you going?
06:50Home.
06:53Number 4. Chow and Su. In the Mood for Love.
07:02After learning that their spouses are having an affair with each other, Chow Mo Wan and Su Li Zhen develop an unlikely bond.
07:09This slowly blossoms into a platonic romance.
07:14I really can't put it into words.
07:20I understand.
07:24It's already happened. Who said it didn't matter?
07:29Chow even wants Su to follow him to Singapore, but sadly she misses her chance and their chance at happiness evaporates.
07:36Everything that happens afterward only serves to show how much they really blew it.
07:41Even though the film is a masterpiece, we wish we could have seen the two back together.
07:46The ambiguous ending features a mysterious secret, leaving audiences wondering what could have been.
08:12Number 3. Mia and Sebastian. La La Land.
08:23Of all the interrupted romances of the 2010s, we're still heartbroken over this one.
08:29Mia and Sebastian seem like the perfect couple. They're both driven artists that pursue their dreams.
08:34Things don't work out, though, with the partners bending and then breaking.
08:38Maybe you just liked me when I was on my ass because it made you feel better about yourself.
08:47Are you kidding?
08:48No.
08:51The two end up seeing each other one last time in a poignant finale.
08:55They imagine how their lives could have been in an extended dream sequence, proving that there's potential for them to reunite.
09:02It might just be wish fulfillment, but the exes do still seem to love each other.
09:07Had they just waited a little longer, they could have made their lives together.
09:18Number 2. Cecilia and Robbie. Atonement.
09:22Are you enjoying your book?
09:23No, not really.
09:24It gets better.
09:25Fair fielding any day.
09:27Through a series of misunderstandings, the younger Brian E. Tallis influences the separation of her sister Cecilia and a servant, Robbie Turner.
09:35This mistake dooms the couple for the rest of their lives.
09:38With World War II breaking out, the two heroes both die in separate incidents.
09:42I love you.
09:44Come back.
09:46Come back to me.
09:50It's a shocking and sad end for people that just wanted to be together.
09:54If Cecilia's siblings hadn't gotten involved, the relationship could have at least continued until the global conflict began.
10:01And Brian E. lives to realize what she has done and regret her actions.
10:06While there are no guarantees in life, these characters deserved and clearly wanted much better for themselves.
10:12I gave them their happiness.
10:32If you're on your phone, make sure you go into your settings and switch on notifications.
10:37Number 1. Rose and Jack. Titanic.
10:40I'm Jack Dawson.
10:42Rose, do we pick it?
10:45I have to get you to write that one down.
10:48Meeting on the tragic voyage, Rose and Jack aren't exactly the luckiest couple.
10:53They both come from different worlds, but their love overcomes this and they try to stick together after the ship strikes the iceberg.
11:01Unfortunately, Jack has a controversial exit from the film that could have been prevented.
11:06With arguments lingering for decades, many audience members feel that something could have been done to save him.
11:12Never let go.
11:16I will never let go, Jack.
11:19On the other hand, it's also clear that any jostling of their makeshift raft would be dangerous.
11:24Some people might say that the story only works if they can't be together, but that doesn't mean they couldn't have tried a little harder.
11:39Did we forget another breakup that shouldn't have happened?
11:43Bye.
11:44Bye.
11:45Bye.
