As people in South Padre Island enjoy a pleasant beach day, Beryl is making its way to Texas while continuing to strengthen in the Gulf of Mexico.

00:05beach plenty of people out here enjoying the weather it's just another beautiful
00:09weekend on South Padre Island but we have a storm looming over the Gulf of
00:12Mexico now it may look like it's business as usual and it's just another
00:15sunny summer day here on the beach but people are talking about the storm and
00:19people are making plans Texas Department of Transportation has their big LED
00:22highway signs lit up with a message warning people about tropical storm
00:26Barrel entering the Gulf of Mexico AccuWeather forecast iPad does currently
00:30bring Barrel back up to hurricane strength and the center of that track is
00:34actually pushed east all the way up east of Corpus Christi into the Port Lavaca
00:37area now this system is going to bring in a lot of rain we are seeing
00:41exceptional drought conditions in these coastal areas and further inland up
00:44towards San Antonio all the way up into Austin some areas in these exceptional
00:48drought conditions are going to see over eight inches of rain in localized areas
00:52we have sandbag stations open here in South Padre Island there are a couple
00:56here in town further inland Port Isabel also has a couple of sandbag stations
