00:00Welcome to WatchMojo, and today we're counting down our picks for the best Pokémon of all
00:09time, judging them based on their popularity, cool factor, and importance to the franchise.
00:23Number 100, Jirachi.
00:25Don't let appearances fool you, this runt is actually a full-on mythical Pokémon, and
00:31quite a rare one at that.
00:35Despite being introduced all the way back in the third generation, Jirachi is infamously
00:41hard to get your hands on, having only been distributed in a handful of online events.
00:46But it has to be exclusive, considering it's known for granting wishes.
00:56Well that, and blowing away opponents with its signature move, Doom Desire.
01:01The catch is that Jirachi needs to sleep for about a thousand years, give or take, in between
01:07each wish.
01:08No wonder it's hard to obtain.
01:14Number 99, Staraptor.
01:17It may be part normal type, but there's nothing ordinary about this regional bird.
01:22Staraptor single-handedly bucked the trend of forgettable early-root flyers by flapping
01:27onto the scene with a design that's just plain cool.
01:37It radiates confidence at every turn, which makes sense considering it's quite the formidable
01:42foe in battle, both in-game and in the anime.
01:46No matter the medium, you do not want to be on the wrong side of Staraptor's close combat.
01:55If you're in need of a strong flying type to traverse the Sinnoh region, the question
02:00isn't why you'd pick up Staraptor, it's why not.
02:06Number 98, Beware.
02:09You know the saying, don't poke a bear?
02:11Well, that applies to this Pokémon, too.
02:14While it may look nice enough with its pink, fluffy fur, it has the attack stat to brick-break
02:19you into Pokéblocks.
02:29It's not called Beware for nothing, after all.
02:32To give credit where it's due, the anime did a lot of the heavy lifting for Beware,
02:37making it a hilarious part of Team Rocket's journey through Alola.
02:46At least when it wasn't busy thrashing poor Ultra Beasts into paste.
02:50If there's one thing to take away from Beware, it's that cute and threatening aren't
02:54mutually exclusive.
03:02Number 97, Crocodile.
03:05To hide your valuables, Crocodile's here, and it's not playing around.
03:09As a dark type, its thief-inspired design is to be expected.
03:17But combine that with a sand Crocodile, and you have a Pokémon that oozes style.
03:23Plus, in the anime, Ash's Crocodile wears freaking sunglasses.
03:27What's not to love?
03:33Its fresh-type combination and conniving personality makes it an instant standout for
03:38trainers going through Unova, or really for anyone who wants to demolish the competition
03:43with a few earthquakes.
03:45Much like its ability, Moxie, increases its attack with each KO, Crocodile is a Pokémon
03:52that just gets better with age.
03:59Number 96, Bayleef.
04:02Middle-stage evolutions tend to get a bad rap, especially for starter Pokémon.
04:07But that's where Bayleef comes in.
04:09Standing up for awkward team forms everywhere, this Johto grass type is just the right blend
04:15of adorable and aggressive.
04:25The best part of its simplistic design is that Bayleef doesn't look like it needs
04:29to evolve again, it already feels complete.
04:37Throw in an inspired move pool, emphasizing defense, and you have a Pokémon that blooms
04:43both in and out of its Poké Ball.
04:46But of course, it doesn't hurt that Ash's Bayleef in the show is a charming scene-stealer
04:52Number 95, Kingler.
05:01You won't be crabby leveling up this pincer Pokémon.
05:05Kingler is basically the same as its prior evolution, just edgier, more intimidating,
05:10and with a much, much larger claw.
05:17It's not just for show, either.
05:20Most of its Pokédex entries mention that Kingler can crush almost anything unlucky
05:24enough to get stuck in its pincers.
05:27As if to prove it, Ash's Kingler absolutely wrecked most fights it took part in, including
05:33one in the Indigo League.
05:40From its slick look to its crushing power, Kingler is one crabhammer that totally hits
05:46the nail on the head.
05:55Number 94, Mismagius.
05:58It took a few generations for Mistrovus to finally get an evolution, but it was definitely
06:03worth the wait.
06:09Taking some obvious cues from Wichitaia, Mismagius is one of the best-looking ghost types around
06:16hands-down.
06:17To say nothing of its versatility, whether you're looking to stun opponents, knock
06:22them out, or target a weakness, you can't go wrong with Mismagius' wide movepool.
06:32Full disclosure, the Pokédex also warns that this ghost type has a nasty habit of casting
06:38spells and curses on those around it.
06:41But from a Pokémon that looks like Mismagius, that's just part of the experience.
06:51Number 93, Magmar.
06:54Over the years, this Kanto native has gotten both a baby form and a fiery evolution.
07:00But there's just no topping the original.
07:02Actually, original is a good way to describe it.
07:05Magmar is about as classic as you can get.
07:14It's not over-designed, it's not redundant to any other Pokémon, and it doesn't rely
07:19on any sort of gimmick to stay viable in combat.
07:22No, Magmar is just a good, well-rounded Pokémon in every sense of the word.
07:33Magmar's fiery flamethrower has kept its legacy burning for years now, with no signs
07:39of it going out any time soon.
07:50Number 92, Gliscor.
07:53With a Razorfang item and some ingenuity, the Pokémon company turned Gligar from a
07:59forgotten has-been into one of its heaviest hitters.
08:02And its name was Gliscor.
08:10This long-awaited evolution did everything a good power-up should.
08:14It kept the scorpion-adjacent look and the novel ground-flying combination, but cranked
08:20it all up to eleven.
08:27Just like that, the new and heavily-improved Gliscor became a hot commodity for anyone
08:32trying to fill out their party.
08:34Whether you're looking for something strong, something popular, or something that just
08:38looks awesome, Gliscor is up for the challenge.
08:47Number 91, Zacian.
08:49It's no exaggeration to say that Zacian is a thing of legends.
09:01The entire Galar region is built upon the folklore of it and Zamazenta stopping the
09:07darkest day, and wouldn't you know it, that's exactly what happens in Sword and Shield.
09:12Then again, that's not too surprising considering Zacian literally carries a sword around in
09:17its mouth, and boy does it know how to use it.
09:20Zacian's signature move, Behemoth Blade, is powerful enough on its own.
09:31Even if the target is Dynamaxed, its damage is doubled.
09:36With that kind of firepower, Zacian doesn't just live up to his reputation, he exceeds
09:41it.
09:51Number 90, Houndoom.
09:52At a time when dark types were a bit harder to come by, Houndoom entered the fray and
09:58ensured his species wasn't lacking.
10:00Within power and design flair, pair all that with an always-appreciated fire-typing, and
10:12Houndoom successfully burned up the competition on its way to becoming one of the most beloved
10:17Pokémon from the second generation.
10:20Leave it to a hellhound to bring the heat, right?
10:27It's a shame Houndoom's usually relegated to late-game encounters, because it's sick
10:32enough to earn a spot on almost anyone's team, and that's without even mentioning
10:38its mega evolution.
10:45Number 89, Ampharos.
10:55Number 88, Fwekoko.
11:02Number 87, Hydreigon.
11:09Number 86, Lopunny.
11:19Number 85, Golub.
11:21While Geodude and Graveler are abundant in regional caves, this walking boulder is a
11:27rare breed to this day.
11:29But an evolution this heavy is worth a little extra effort.
11:36Golub's clean aesthetic doesn't try to reinvent the wheel, but it doesn't have
11:45to.
11:46This revolutionary line is one of the first you'll find in the Kanto games.
11:53It's to the point that Golub has effectively become the Rock-type of all Rock-types.
12:08It wears its title well, too, boasting an indestructible shell that nothing can pierce.
12:13Ash has tried.
12:15Just like in battle, Golub's popularity is sturdy.
12:24Number 84, Togepi.
12:36Number 83, Cinderace.
12:48Number 82, Electivire.
12:57Number 81, Weavile.
13:04Number 80, Luxray.
13:06You can catch a Shinx on one of the very first routes in the Sinnoh region, but don't think
13:11that means it's a pushover.
13:13Raise that up a bit and you'll end up with Luxray, a Pokémon who probably needs no introduction.
13:24The Electric-type is the definition of a star player.
13:27It's original, cool as hell, and has the stats to back it up.
13:35It's oddly shocking to hear that Luxray is one of the most popular Pokémon to come out
13:40of the Sinnoh region, and given the stiff competition, that's saying something.
13:50Number 79, Froslass.
13:59Number 78, Deoxys.
14:08Number 77, Absol.
14:16Number 76, Fisharp.
14:27Number 75, Marowak.
14:30Most players probably recognize Marowak from its stint as a ghost in the Pokémon Tower
14:35during the events of the Kanto games.
14:41Beyond that, though, it's a Pokémon with a surprisingly in-depth backstory surrounding
14:47its skull mask and bone club.
14:49All that lore and story significance adds up to a Pokémon that's hard to forget, especially
15:01because it comes in two forms.
15:04If ground types aren't your thing, Pokémon Sun and Moon brilliantly reconceptualized
15:09Marowak as something of a fire dancer, blazing pole and all.
15:14It doesn't matter which version you catch, all Marowak are worthwhile as far as we're
15:25concerned.
15:27Number 74, Giratina.
15:35Number 73, Machamp.
15:47Number 72, Groudon.
15:56Number 71, Meowskirata.
16:04Number 70, Rhydon.
16:06Whether you catch one or not, Rhydon is an integral part of every trainer's journey
16:11through Kanto.
16:12No, it's not the strongest or easiest to catch, or even the most interesting, but it
16:23takes the crown based solely on the fact that it was allegedly the first Pokémon ever designed.
16:29Because of that, it's everywhere in the early games.
16:40All those monster statues in gyms, they're actually Rhydon sprites.
16:45It's such a timeless design, it works as both a Pokémon and gym decoration at the
16:50same time.
16:51Even if you aim for the horn, there's nothing that can take down a lineage like that.
17:04Number 69, Tapu Koko.
17:15Number 68, Annihilate.
17:20Number 67, Grimmsnarl.
17:30Number 66, Quagsire.
17:39Number 65, Zeraora.
17:42They say lightning never strikes the same place twice, and all things considered, neither
17:46does Zeraora, mainly because it doesn't have to.
17:50There's not many Pokémon out there who can take a Plasma Fist from a Zeraora and
17:55keep on trucking.
18:04Zeraora's a lot more than hype and static, though.
18:07If its Pokedex entries are anything to go by, the Electric-type Mythical is fast as
18:13lightning, strong as a thunderclap, and bound to leave you paralysed with fear.
18:25Whenever you run into a Zeraora, sparks are bound to fly, and not in a good way.
18:42Number 64, Crobat.
18:52Number 63, Darkrai.
19:01Number 62, Totodile.
19:09Number 61, Dragapult.
19:17Number 60, Psyduck.
19:19As Misty will tell you first-hand, it takes a lot of love and attention to get all your
19:24Psyduck in a row, but it pays off in spades.
19:33With a few headache remedies, Misty's sidekick went from incompetent dope to a lean, mean,
19:39KO-ing machine.
19:40Psyduck doesn't pop off often, but when it does, its psychic attacks will send you
19:46to Pokemon Tower and beyond.
19:56Then as if to rub it in, it will immediately go back to nursing its headache right after.
20:01It's a psychic prodigy and a dim-witted darling at the same time.
20:06Psyduck truly is the best of both worlds.
20:15Number 59, Skarmory.
20:23Number 58, Tinkerton.
20:30Number 57, Ditto.
20:39Number 56, Ho-Oh.
20:49Number 55, Jigglypuff.
20:51Pink, round, and fluffy is a hard combo to beat when you're talking about cuteness.
20:57And that's just scratching the surface.
21:03Jigglypuff's also got big eyes and an even bigger personality to go with it.
21:08It's highlighted extraordinarily well in the anime, where the adorable balloon Pokemon
21:13showed off its angry side with downright heart-melting results.
21:17But that's not the only reason its anime debut earned a stunning ovation.
21:22As it turns out, Jigglypuff has a great singing voice too.
21:33Its lullabies have a near-perfect track record.
21:36A word of advice though, don't let it around any permanent markers, okay?
21:50Number 54, Kyurem.
22:00Number 53, Torterra.
22:11Number 52, Haxorus.
22:20Number 51, Lycanroc.
22:30Number 50, Chandelure.
22:32No other Pokemon personifies the best parts of ghost types quite like Chandelure.
22:37From a purely conceptual level, a spirit possessing a chandelier is an incredibly inventive spin
22:43on ghost Pokemon, especially because it gave us the very first dual ghost and fire type.
22:55It takes full advantage of its brilliant theming with an eclectic movepool and some
23:00genuinely interesting lore in its Pokedex entries.
23:06Oh, and those purple flames?
23:15They aren't just for show.
23:17They'll burn up anything in their path, friends, enemies, and even actual spirits.
23:23Yeah, you're gonna wanna keep this Pokemon lit and happy.
23:36Number 49, Nidoking.
23:45Number 48, Slowpoke.
23:53Number 47, Suicune.
24:02Number 46, Yamper.
24:11Number 45, Vulpix.
24:13You can go ahead and throw your Fire Stones away.
24:16Vulpix is so captivating, you won't ever want to evolve it.
24:24The subdued colour palette highlights what is, otherwise, a pretty plain design.
24:29But with its fluffy tail, tuft of hair, and stubby legs, Vulpix's uncomplicated look
24:35specialises in all things adorable.
24:38In fact, its design is so iconic, Vulpix's Alolan form didn't even try to improve it,
24:45instead opting for a mere palette swap.
24:52No need to mess with perfection, right?
24:55Maybe that's why the Kanto region doesn't have many fire types.
24:59They realise that Vulpix is all they need.
25:09Number 44, Incineroar.
25:20Number 43, Sirfetch'd.
25:29Number 42, Articuno.
25:36Number 41, Salamence.
25:46Number 40, Meowth.
25:48Whether they talk or not, every Meowth is on the money.
25:51And not just because of the coin on its head.
25:54No, it's the anime that really went the extra mile.
26:00The show turned this feline from a below-average in-game encounter into a smart-mouthed fan
26:06favourite.
26:07Meowth's time with Team Rocket gave it one of the most fully-fleshed-out personalities
26:12of any Pokémon, and that's reflected in its multiple game appearances.
26:24Even if anime isn't your cup of tea, Meowth's bevy of regional forms and exclusive evolutions
26:30still earn him a spot on any good trainer's roster.
26:34There's no forgetting who's the top cat around here.
26:43Number 39, Wobbuffet.
26:50Number 38, Aegislash.
27:04Number 37, Alakazam.
27:15Number 36, Piplup.
27:24Number 35, Lapras.
27:26There's a lot of water types in the sea.
27:29As such, Lapras isn't the first Pokémon who can learn Surf, and it's far from the
27:33last.
27:39But Lapras does use it the best, and it's not even close, thanks to the convenient shell
27:45on its back, this dual-type Pokémon is perfect for crossing bodies of water, both in-game
27:51and out.
27:56Since Lapras' slick design is like a cross between a seal and a dragon, you'll always
28:02be riding it in style, too.
28:04Suffice it to say, if you're ever looking to surf across the world, there's only one
28:08Pokémon up for the job.
28:15Number 34, Zoroark.
28:26Number 33, Goodra.
28:39Number 32, Flygon.
28:47Number 31, Lugia.
28:58Number 30, Mudkip.
29:00Famously, the Hoenn region has a whole lot of oceans, but you can get the only water
29:06type you need in the first five minutes of the game.
29:15Mudkip puts all its competition to shame on aesthetics alone.
29:20Everything from its wagging tail, to its orange cheeks, down to the fin on its head, is simply
29:25precious.
29:30Mudkip also has a habit of playing in the mud, which makes sense considering it evolves
29:35into a dual ground type, and a very strong one at that.
29:39Then again, Mudkip doesn't even need Marsh Stomp or Swamp It to stand out.
29:44It's popular enough all on its own.
29:50Number 29, Gyarados.
30:01Number 28, Scizor.
30:08Number 27, Typhlosion.
30:15Number 26, Heracross.
30:25Number 25, Metagross.
30:28Strong as steel, and just as hard to obtain, Metagross is one of the primary pseudo-legendaries
30:34from Pokémon's third generation.
30:36However, that title is really just a formality.
30:40Based on its stats, appearance, and usage, this Mon is simply legendary, full stop.
30:52The sharp and angular look gives Metagross a certain edge that few other Pokémon possess,
30:58and that's before it starts meteor-mashing opponents into dust.
31:03The verdict is in.
31:04Metagross is just something else.
31:13Then again, what else would you expect from Steven Stone's ace?
31:17Clearly you don't become a champion's trump card unless you're the real deal.
31:27Number 24, Infernape.
31:35Number 23, Excadrill.
31:42Number 22, Dragonite.
31:51Number 21, Arcanine.
31:59Number 20, Mew.
32:01Back when people thought there were only 150 Pokémon to catch, Mew turned up and added
32:06an extra one to that count.
32:10Just like that, trainers went into a frenzy.
32:13Mew's prominent use in the movie and secretive release had fans around the world trying to
32:18glitch their games to get their hands on one.
32:27Maybe it's the appealing design, maybe it's because it can learn almost every move in
32:31the game, or maybe it's just plain nostalgia.
32:35Either way, Mew's popularity hasn't budged once over the years.
32:39By now, there's no arguing that it's an iconic part of Pokémon history.
32:49Number 19, Sceptile.
32:52This grassy gecko is the epitome of cool, calm, and collected, especially the cool part.
32:58Sceptile just looks suave, and after seeing its leaf-blade in action, we understand why.
33:06There's not many grass types who can match its prowess in battle.
33:13Actually, there's not many Pokémon, period, who can live up to Sceptile's nonchalant
33:18personality.
33:19Really, it's everything you'd ever want from the final stage of a starter.
33:27It's powerful, it exudes attitude, and it feels like the natural endpoint of Trico's
33:32line.
33:33Even if it wasn't a starter, though, Sceptile is just too cool to pass up.
33:43Number 18, Arceus.
33:45Legendaries and mythicals step aside, Arceus is the only Pokémon that truly rules above
33:51them all.
33:58Its legacy speaks for itself.
34:00Arceus is often referred to as the original one, implying it's the first ever Pokémon.
34:06Since it also created the Sinnoh region, and possibly the entire Pokémon world as we know
34:12it, Arceus' power leaves little to the imagination.
34:24But if you're still unconvinced, its signature move literally casts judgments on anyone silly
34:30enough to challenge it to a fight.
34:33Clearly this is Arceus' world, and everyone else is just living in it.
34:48Number 17, Tyranitar.
34:50Based on its stat pool and menacing design, you'd be forgiven for assuming Tyranitar
34:56is legendary.
34:57It's not, but it comes about as close as any normal Pokémon can.
35:08For one, it looks like it should be stomping through skyscrapers, not fighting in battles.
35:14But that's also why, in the whole Pokédex, Tyranitar feels one of a kind.
35:24And that's no hyperbole.
35:25To date, it's the only Pokémon to share the Rock and Dark typing.
35:30While it's no easy feat raising such a titan, anyone who commits to training Tyranitar is
35:35bound to get an edgy behemoth like no other.
35:43Number 16, Growlithe.
35:45The Alola region has a lot going for it.
35:47Sandy beaches, blue waves, island kahunas, and also what is probably the most charming
35:54starter Pokémon there's ever been.
36:01We know that's high praise, but just look at Growlithe and try to tell us otherwise.
36:06It's even got a little leaf as a bowtie and everything.
36:09Still, Growlithe isn't all cuddles and puffins.
36:13Its dual flying type gives it plenty of utility in a fight, at least when it's not dozing
36:18off.
36:23Maybe that's just ashes, though.
36:25Either way, if you're starting your journey through Alola, there's really only one starter
36:29to choose from.
36:35Number 15, Garchomp.
36:37Just when you thought it was safe to fight Dragon-types, this one came along and gave
36:42everyone a new reason to be afraid.
36:54Part land shark, part scaly monster, and part pseudo-legendary, Garchomp is all the best
36:58part of Dragon-types and Pokémon rolled into one.
37:02Given its name, it's no surprise it has the bite to back it up, too.
37:15Cynthia's earthquaking Garchomp still scares trainers to this day.
37:19The only real way to compete is to bring your own Garchomp.
37:23It's extremely telling when the best answer to defeating a Pokémon is to go out and catch
37:28your own.
37:35Number 14, Snorlax.
37:37Compared to other normal types, and most Pokémon overall, this one is lazy, overweight, and
37:44would rather spend its day napping than battling.
37:47It takes a Pokéflute and some serious perseverance just to wake it up at all, but that's the
37:59charm that makes Snorlax Snorlax.
38:01If you put in the work, you're treated to one of the friendliest mons around.
38:06It's got a smile that can melt an Avalugg and a Hyper Beam that can get rid of anything
38:10else.
38:18As Ash knows, Snorlax makes a great dinner date, too.
38:22And for lunch.
38:23No, and for breakfast.
38:25On second thought, just write it down for every meal.
38:32Number 13, Blaziken.
38:34As if Hoenn didn't have enough iconic starter Pokémon, Torchic blazed onto the scene with
38:40a final evolution that took fans by storm.
38:43It's got style, it's got power, it's even got Blaze Kicks.
38:51There's no question about it, Blaziken is simply undefeatable.
38:55And not just because it's part fighting type, though that definitely helps.
39:00In reality, Blaziken could stand out on its own kicking prowess alone, let alone the fiery
39:06design that ties it all together.
39:12Add in some worthwhile appearances in the anime, and Blaziken successfully turned an
39:17already amazing batch of starters into a truly unforgettable lineup.
39:27Number 12, Mimikyu.
39:30Pikachu?
39:31This can be deceiving, and despite how it seems, this is no cheap Pikachu knock-off.
39:36Although, you can't say Mimikyu didn't try.
39:39It's actually a lonely Pokémon who dresses as the electric type to lure in unsuspecting
39:45strangers.
39:53And maybe even make a friend.
39:55Alongside breaking our hearts, Mimikyu's backstory gives it just enough character to
40:00stand out amongst the many other Pokémon out there.
40:09To sweeten the deal, it comes with an unusual typing and an exclusive ability too.
40:15Altogether, there's no need for Mimikyu to dress up as Pikachu anymore.
40:20It's good enough as is.
40:27Number 11, Squirtle.
40:29There's nothing to be shell-shocked about here.
40:32After all, Squirtle was the very first water type most trainers ever met, and nothing has
40:38ever quite matched its reputation.
40:48While Pokémon has a slew of iconic starters, including friendly fire from other water types,
40:53it'll take more than a few generations to knock Squirtle off its perch.
40:58It's simply too cute to overshadow.
41:01That begs the question then, what's better than a Squirtle?
41:04A whole squad of them, that's what.
41:09And best of all, they always roll out in style.
41:12As long as the Squirtle squad's got something to say about it, this Kanto starter's legacy
41:18is well-protected.
41:19It's fitting that the so-called Embrace Pokémon got just that reaction from Poké
41:37fans.
41:38Ever since its debut in the Hoenn region, Gardevoir's striking look and powerful abilities
41:44have kept it topping popularity charts left and right.
41:52Trainers just can't get enough of it, to the point these psychic type earned major
41:56roles in several Pokémon spin-offs and other ancillary material.
42:01That's not all.
42:03Gardevoir's profile remained so high that, years after its debut, it got a mega evolution
42:09and served as a champion's ace.
42:12Even if it's occasionally for less than pure reasons, Gardevoir's ridiculous acclaim
42:17is impossible to ignore.
42:27From the very beginning, one Grass-type has reigned supreme, and it doesn't even need
42:32to evolve to do it.
42:37Ironically, Bulbasaur is the quickest to reach its final stage of all the Kanto starters,
42:44but it's kind of a moot point anyway.
42:47Sporting a timeless design and lots of personality, Bulbasaur planted roots as an iconic Pokémon
42:53all of its own.
43:05To many Trainers, it's the de facto Grass-type, and can you blame them?
43:10Whether you watched the anime or played the games, Bulbasaur proved itself a steadfast
43:14companion that all other Grass-types are still trying to live up to.
43:28On the tallest floor of the mysterious Sky Pillar, there's a legendary Pokémon that
43:33puts almost every other one to shame.
43:41Just ask Groudon and Kyogre.
43:43Rayquaza is probably the only Pokémon capable of not just quelling a war between land and
43:49sea, but restoring the entire Hoenn region back to peace.
43:54And that's when it's still groggy from a power nap.
44:06With a bit more preparation, Rayquaza can match just about any Pokémon in battle.
44:12It's almost funny that its signature move is called Dragon Ascent, considering Rayquaza
44:17has quickly ascended the ranks into All-Timer status and beyond.
44:32With the body of a ghost and the smile of a friend, Gengar's striking look has kept
44:37it in people's nightmares ever since it haunted Trainers in the first generation.
44:46Back then, it was the only fully-evolved Ghost-type at all, but despite holding the
44:51line by itself, Gengar represented its species with pride, strength, and horror, delivering
44:58a ghastly Pokémon that stood the test of time.
45:05Gengar's shadow ball proved so potent, it ended up defining the entire Ghost-type as
45:14a whole.
45:15These days, there isn't a single ghoul Pokémon that doesn't owe something to Gengar and
45:20its mischievous grin.
45:31This legendary is unlike anything else the franchise has ever seen.
45:42Putting aside its sleek design and incredible psychic powers, it's hard to compete with
45:47the star of the very first Pokémon movie ever.
45:51Don't go reaching for your Poké Balls, though – Mewtwo's no mere plot device.
45:55Its musings on genetics and Pokémon autonomy offered an insightful new perspective into
46:01the series.
46:09The lore behind Mewtwo's own creation backs it up.
46:13While there's always a thrill in finding a rare legendary deep in a cave, Mewtwo isn't
46:18just an exclusive Pokémon, it's an important one.
46:30It doesn't get any cuter than this.
46:33Eevee's fetching appearance is all but guaranteed to steal your heart, and never give it back.
46:39But of course, the best part is that Eevee is full of potential, capable of evolving
46:45into any number of different forms.
46:47Like say, the equally iconic Dark-type, Umbreon.
46:51Or maybe you're into Electric-types.
46:53How about Fire?
46:54Water?
46:55What about Grass, Ice, or Psychic?
46:58Well we could go on.
47:00No matter your need, Eevee's got you covered.
47:07That is, if you can part ways with its sweet expression.
47:10And trust us, that's a big if.
47:16There's popular, there's best of the best, and then there's Greninja.
47:28With nothing more than a few Water Shurikens, and a whole lot of style, this Kalos starter
47:33croaked its way to becoming the next big thing.
47:37The Shinobi-inspired design is epic enough on its own, but the anime took it a step further
47:42by giving it a whole new form called Ash Greninja.
47:54Considering it basically carried the entire Kalos arc on its back, it was well-deserved.
47:58Actually, you could say the same about most of Greninja's achievements.
48:03You don't make it into Super Smash Bros for nothing, that's for sure.
48:15You don't need to read auras to figure out why this Pokemon is something special.
48:24One look will do.
48:25From the start, Lucario's blue and black color palette immediately draws the eye.
48:30Then, when it raises its paws, its aura sphere does the rest.
48:41That's all fine and dandy.
48:43But in reality, what makes Lucario stand out is hard to put into words.
48:48Simply put, it exudes a quiet determination that not many other Pokemon have.
48:58Combined with a few standout showings in the anime, Lucario quickly became not just a passing
49:04fad, but an unshakeable pillar of the franchise in its own right.
49:19Some things never get old.
49:21Catching a new partner, overcoming a tough challenge, flaming everyone in your path with
49:26the pinnacle of fire-types, you know, the simple stuff.
49:37By now, Charizard's lengthy legacy has more than cemented itself – in-game, in the anime,
49:43and more.
49:44Look at it this way.
49:45Charizard is one of the elite few to have not just one, but two completely separate
49:51mega-evolutions.
49:52If that doesn't prove its popularity, we don't know what will.
50:01While there's no bad answers when choosing a Kanto starter, years and years of ardent
50:06fan support have made it clear that there is a right one, and it's Charizard.

50:36Not much of a thundershock, is it?
50:38Pikachu is the undisputed mascot of the series.
50:41It's cute, it's cool, it's powerful, and above all, it's the beating heart that
50:46makes Pokemon so beloved.
50:52The entire core of the franchise is built upon Ash and Pikachu, and as a result, even
50:57people who have never touched the games or anime probably know the name of this electric
51:02mouse.
51:05There's just no way to replace something like that.
51:11Pikachu is Pokemon, and nothing can or will ever touch its impact.
51:17You might even say it's the very best, like no one ever was.
51:39We know it's hard to pick, but what's your favorite Pokemon?
51:43Mine is Sentret, and it didn't even make the top 100.
51:46Either way, let us know what yours is in those comments below.
