00:00We're always concerned about people visiting Death Valley safely in the summer heat.
00:07And honestly, 128, 130 versus 120, it's all deadly.
00:13So we're not particularly more concerned because it's going to be extremely hot in the next
00:19few days.
00:21Some tips for visiting Death Valley safely in the summer are to limit your exposure out
00:26in the heat.
00:27You can't tough it out.
00:29Heat does kill.
00:31And so stay on paved roads, stay within five minute walk of your car so that you always
00:36have that air conditioning as a nice cool refuge to come back to.
00:40Do any hiking at low elevation before 10 o'clock in the morning, or go up into the higher elevation
00:45part of the park to hike.
00:47We don't recommend that people stay away from the park because it's going to be hot.
00:51There's still so many amazing things you can see here in the middle of the summer.
00:55And it'll give you a real, real appreciation for what the plants and animals and people
01:00that live their entire lives here deal with.
01:03But do it safely.
01:05Do it in little bites.
01:07Don't go on a marathon.
01:09Don't do a long hike at low elevation.
01:12And when I say do it safely, I mean stay in or close to your air conditioned car with
01:16only maybe five minute walks away from that.
01:19Much longer than that.
01:21And you are really putting yourself in danger.
