00:00Matthew Perry's death is not yet a closed case. Federal authorities are still investigating who
00:06supplied the Friends actor with the ketamine he took that contributed to him drowning in
00:11his hot tub last October. While no suspects are currently being named, several people could end
00:17up charged in connection with his passing. A law enforcement source familiar with the probe tells
00:22NBC News June 26th. E-News reached out to the Los Angeles Police Department to request further
00:28comment on the matter. However, they declined, adding that they still have an open and ongoing
00:34investigation into Matthew's death. The LAPD had said in May they were working with the Drug
00:39Enforcement Administration on the inquiry. An autopsy report obtained by E-News December 15th
00:46had determined the cause of the actor's death to be from, quote, acute effects of ketamine,
00:51and his passing was ruled as a drug and drowning related accident. The medical examiner's report
00:57also noted that while the 54-year-old had taken ketamine infusion therapy to treat depression
01:02and anxiety over a week before he died, the trace amounts of the medication detected in his stomach,
01:08quote, could not be from that infusion therapy since ketamine's half-life is three to four hours
01:14or less. Matthew, who had battled addiction to prescription painkillers and alcohol for years,
01:20wrote about his sobriety journey in his 2022 memoir, Friends, Lovers, and the Big Terrible
01:26Thing. Amid the investigation, the late actor's loved ones, including his friend's co-stars,
01:31have shared fond memories of him, with Courtney Cox, who played his on-screen love interest Monica
01:37on the sitcom, telling CBS Mornings in May the impact Matthew had on her life. He is genuinely
01:46a huge heart, obviously struggled. I'm so thankful I got to work so closely with him for so many
01:53years. He visits me a lot, if we believe in that. You know, I talk to my mom, my dad, Matthew. I
02:00feel like there are a lot of people that are, I think, that guide us. I do sense, yeah, I sense
02:08Matthew's around, for sure.
