00:00Hey guys, over here for our Crime and Emergency Services in Japan playlist and it's yet another
00:05house fire.
00:08We've lost count of how many house fires we've showed you over the years, probably five or
00:12six at least, and we've seen a lot more than what we've showed you.
00:16It's really, really common in Japan.
00:19Quite often we'll see really black smoke off in the distance and we'll hear fire engines
00:23and usually if it's black smoke, usually it's a house or some sort of building.
00:28In that case it's steam you can see there because they've just about put it out, so
00:32that's steam, but when it was burning it was black.
00:36And usually if the farmers are out burning in the fields, usually it's white, white smoke.
00:40So when you see black smoke, usually you know that's what it is.
00:43So someone walked to the ambulance, probably a bit of shock and probably some smoke inhalation,
00:50but nobody was actually hurt, so that's a good thing.
00:54But it's just really common, you know, it's probably a combination of those old houses
00:58The tatami, when the tatami is really old, it becomes really dry and flammable.
01:03The walls are usually mud, but the ceilings and the floors and everything else is all
01:09wood, so the mud walls don't usually burn very well, but everything else does.
01:14So everything's sort of old and dry and flammable.
01:17And then you combine that with people using kerosene heaters and all sorts of things like
01:24that, and old electrical wiring, things like that, so it's just really common.
01:30We see it all the time, it's terrible isn't it?
01:33So again, fortunately no one was hurt, and it looks like the fire brigade were fast enough
01:37that they managed to put it out while it was still on the top floor.
01:41So it'll be interesting to see if they've salvaged it.
01:43It's hard to imagine it'll be worth repairing.
01:48It's more likely they'll demolish it, but we shall see, because imagine the water damage
01:53in there, and it's old, I mean that house wouldn't be valued at anything anymore because
01:57it's too old.
01:59So there's a pretty good chance the insurance company will just pay them out, whatever they
02:03think that's worth, and they'll just build a new house there probably.
02:08We shall see.
02:09So yeah, house fires, it's a thing, these old houses.
02:13That's why we've got the old farmhouse, there's fire extinguishers and smoke detectors and
02:17fire blankets and all sorts of stuff.
02:19Anyway, there was that.
02:22More videos coming soon.
