02:26I would like to be the first to welcome my congratulations to Abtisam and encourage him to give his short speech.
02:45I want to begin by thanking the Attorney Officers, the Electoral Services and all the staff for the hard work you are making today most humbly.
02:54Thank you to the people of Sheffield Central for having the trust and confidence in me to represent you.
02:59It is an honour and a privilege to serve.
03:02I want to begin by paying tribute to my friend and dear mentor, Bob Humphrey.
03:08An excellent MP, humble, honest, hard-working, everything you should look for in the character of our representatives.
03:16He maintained a strong focus on the constituency and ran a very strong and efficient office.
03:22Thank you for all you have done for the people of Sheffield Central and thank you for the support you have given me.
03:28I want to give you my personal assurance that I will continue your hard work and ensure the people of Sheffield Central are well represented.
03:36I want to thank my family for their unwavering support, my dear friends for keeping me going and a heartfelt thank you to my remarkable agent, Mark Wilson.
03:49I want to say thank you to all the wonderful volunteers who have helped in the campaign.
03:53Your efforts are the reason that we have this success and it belongs to each and every one of you.
03:59For everyone in Sheffield Central, those who voted for me, those who voted differently and those who stayed at home,
04:05I promise to represent you all and to be your voice in Parliament and I will always be on your side.
04:12I cannot believe that I am on this platform today, the daughter of a Yemeni working class migrant.
04:18Despite the journey of many struggles in life, I qualified as a teacher and as a lawyer and I have used all my experiences to make sure I bettered the lives of others.
04:31I am driven by the belief that in fairness and inequality must always be challenged.
04:36That we all have an obligation to fight for the justice and the kind of world that we want to live in.
04:42We have 14 years of a hostile environment.
04:46Increased inequality, dehumanising language, divisive rhetoric, populist debates that have drowned out any reasonable discussion.
04:56This is not who we are and this is not how we should allow our politics to be defined.
05:01Labour's policies are based on action, not just ideology.
05:05An action that makes real change to all of our communities.
05:09Action that doesn't just talk about inequality but works to reduce it.
05:13Action that will tackle the very real issues of climate change, the cost of living and our public services.
05:19Action that allows us to use our platform not to talk at people but to listen to all people.
05:26Action that requires unity, professionalism, recognising that we may have different priorities but not less pressing.
05:34Our voice is the most powerful instrument we have.
05:39It can be used to divide people or indeed bring people together.
05:44And yet many people feel that they are not listened to or heard.
05:48Throughout this campaign I have spoken to many people and many have felt that their voice in relation to the issues going on in the Middle East and Gaza has not been heard.
05:58To those people, let me reassure you that I am here, you loud and clear.
06:04I will use my voice to advocate for peace, co-existence in the region, for an immediate ceasefire,
06:12for the re-use of hostages and hostiles, for the recognition of Palestine and for all lives to be treated equally.
06:20I promise, those who are angry, I will listen and I will use your voice to ensure that my voice will be heard.
06:30I once didn't have a voice, I know how that feels.
06:36But now that I do, I will listen to the issues that everyone raises in Sheffield Central, no matter how big or small.
06:43And from the bottom of my heart, sincerely I say thank you.
