00:00There is no need to bring help from the government to other places in the country,
00:04including our fellow countrymen in Eastern Visayas.
00:08Kenneth Pacientes with the details.
00:10Rise and shine, Kenneth.
00:15Eastern Visayas was the target of President Ferdinand R. Marcos Jr.
00:19for the distribution of Presidential Assistance to Farmers, Fisher Folk, and their Families, or PAF Program.
00:25Here, the PAS 756 El Nino Affected Farmers received P10,000 cash assistance
00:32from the indemnity check received by the provincial government of Leyte,
00:36which amounts to P7.5 million.
00:38According to our data,
00:40more than P23 million of land was allocated here in Region 8
00:48which was allocated by more than 500 farmers.
00:52This is not for Region 8,
00:54this is for the Leyte Provinces, Biliran, Southern Leyte, and Leyte.
00:59That is why, at this time,
01:01it is good for your government to visit you
01:05to provide support so that you can recover
01:10for your livelihood.
01:13In total, P40 million of financial aid
01:17was given by the government to the local government of Leyte,
01:21including Southern Leyte and Biliran.
01:23This was added to the P5 million of rice for all those who came.
01:27P10,000 from DSWD for the 1,000 beneficiaries.
01:31P6 million of assistance from the DOLE program.
01:35More than P300,000 of training funds for the farmers
01:40who wanted to be healthcare workers were given by TESDA.
01:43For our fishermen,
01:46BIFAR will provide 30 demotor boats,
01:51materials, and feeds
01:53for the care of fish and tilapia,
01:56and some equipment for growing seaweeds.
02:01The President himself also provided farm machinery and equipment
02:05for the cooperatives of the farmers,
02:07including the tractors that will help them farm.
02:11Many beneficiaries are very grateful for the assistance
02:15from the government,
02:16especially for their livelihood and income
02:20that was affected by the El Niño earthquake.
02:22This is the first step
02:28for us to farm again.
02:30I hope that we will be able to provide
02:36pyramid assistance,
02:39just like the pyramid irrigation for our fishermen.
02:43I lost the financial support that I was given.
02:45Now, it's a big help.
02:48I didn't receive that kind of financial support.
02:51The government recognized the importance of this initiative
02:54by the President.
02:55The President is turning around to face you
02:58and pay for the support that you gave
03:02in the past elections.
03:04His turn is a service.
03:06The President also assured that the government will continue to focus
03:09on strengthening some infrastructure
03:12that will have a big impact on the farmers in the province of Leyte
03:15and on irrigation.
03:16This includes the construction of Tacloban Airport
03:19that is worth Php 2.5 billion.
03:22We hope that by 2026,
03:27by 2026, this will be over
03:30and we will be able to provide a better and faster service
03:34to our fellow countrymen.
03:36The Executive Board also assured
03:38that security will be strengthened in the area
03:40through the addition of police and military forces.
