02:19In international economic news, the European Union imposed a conservative rate of up to
02:2538% of additional customs rights on imports of Chinese electric vehicles, before a
02:31final decision in November accusing Beijing of having illegally subsidized its manufacturers.
02:38These new so-called compensatory customs rights, which add up to a tax of 10%, already applied
02:43by the European Union, to vehicles manufactured in factories in China, will be in force
02:48from this Friday.
02:50The European executive now has up to four months to decide to impose definitive rights,
02:56which leaves open a window of dialogue with China while these definitive rights would
03:01be valid for five years.
03:02Note that electric vehicles coming from China represent nearly 20% of the European market

03:11According to sector estimates, Chinese brands account for 8% of electric vehicles sold
