00:57Coming off a giant upset of Latvia, the Philippines finishes second in Group A of the tournament.
01:03The team remains on track to cinch the coveted spot in the Paris Games.
01:07The three teams in Group A figured in a tie with identical 1-1 records, but only Latvia
01:12and the Philippines advanced due to a superior point differential.

01:31Senator Nancy Binay says she's considering an ethics complaint against her political
01:35rival, Senator and incumbent Committee on Accounts chief Alan Peter Cayetano.
01:40This after he called her crazy and marites or a gossip monger during a Senate hearing.
01:45Binay, the former Accounts Committee chief, says she is consulting her staff.
02:04The hearing on the new Senate building on Wednesday, July 3, got too personal between
02:08the two senators.
02:10Cayetano accuses Binay of influencing media interviews to favor her narrative.
02:15At the hearing, Binay refuted Cayetano's claim, saying the construction only costs
02:19P21.7 billion and not P23 billion.
02:22Cayetano insists the cost is at P23 billion due to land acquisition.
02:29Healthcare workers will finally receive their remaining Health Emergency Allowance, or HEA,
02:34claims.
02:35The Department of Budget and Management says it will release P27 billion by Friday, July
02:395.
02:40This means some 5 million HEA claims and over 4,000 COVID-19 sickness and death compensation
02:46claims will finally be paid to workers who've been waiting since the pandemic.
02:50In April 2022, former President Rodrigo Duterte signed a law granting benefits and allowances
02:56to health workers during public health emergencies.
02:59The allowance ranges from P3,000 to P9,000 every month, depending on the risk classification
03:04of where health workers are deployed.
03:07They're entitled to a separate compensation package if they got COVID-19.
03:11Health spokesperson Albert Domingo reminds hospital managers to sort out requirements
03:16to avoid further delays in payouts.
03:18Iloilo 1st District Rep. Janet Garin says the release of the allowances was, quote,
03:23"...long overdue."
03:24Taiwan says China's seizure of a Taiwanese trawler that was operating close to the Chinese
03:30coast might be an act of psychological warfare by Beijing.
03:35Chinese officials boarded and took the boat back to a port in China on Tuesday, July 2.
03:40They say it violated a summer ban on fishing and carried out illegal trawling.
03:44Critics, however, say the move is meant to further pressure Taipei.
03:48The boat was fishing in Chinese waters but near Taiwan-controlled islands.
03:52The Taiwanese Coast Guard says three of the five fishermen on board were Indonesians.
03:58Taiwan National Security Bureau Director-General Tai Ming-yen says it was unusual for Chinese
04:02officials to board and take control of a Taiwanese trawler.
04:06China views democratically governed Taiwan as its territory.
04:10It has ramped up pressure on Taipei since May, when President Lai Ching-teh took office.
04:15Beijing accuses him of being a, quote, "...separatist."
04:20U.S. President Joe Biden vows to stay in the 2024 presidential race as he seeks to shake
04:24off calls for him to drop out after his debate performance.
04:28Sources say Biden was on a call with worried campaign members, telling them he wasn't going
04:33anywhere.
04:34Biden met with 24 Democratic governors and the mayor of Washington, D.C. to reassure
04:39them he is still capable of leading the party.
04:42Concerns about Biden's age and mental acuity rose after the debate where Biden mumbled
04:46and at times lost his train of thought.
04:49Biden says he was tired after consecutive foreign trips.
04:52The White House says he had a cold.
04:55Following the debate, a Wall Street Journal survey found Trump beating Biden by a margin
04:59of 48 to 42 percent.
05:01A New York Times poll finds Trump's lead over Biden has widened by three points, from 49
05:06to 43 percent.
