00:00BERSATU members who intend to contest in the party elections later this year might need
00:06to fork out between RM1,000 and RM100,000 depending on the post they are gunning for.
00:12A source said the proposal for such a fee was mooted by the party's Deputy President
00:17Ahmad Faizal Azumu at the BERSATU Supreme Council meeting last night.
00:22The source said Faizal, better known as Peja, suggested that those who want to contest for
00:27the Presidency and Deputy Presidency pay RM100,000 and those eyeing the Vice President's post
00:33pay RM50,000.
00:36Under the proposal, those gunning for a spot in the Supreme Council would be charged RM5,000
00:41while members who want to contest for a Division Chief's post would need to pay RM1,000.
00:47The source said many of the Supreme Council members, including Party President Muhyiddin
00:51Yassin, were taken aback by the proposal.
00:55The source said, according to Faizal, the fee could be used to fund party elections.
01:01Those who were against the new terms opposed it on grounds that it would only benefit certain
01:06leaders and could create unfair elections.
