00:00Hey, shalom brothers and sisters. Welcome back. I thank you again for joining me today.
00:05Today I want to do an introduction to the book of Numbers in the Old Testament. I just
00:10feel it's always important because, you know, you might have some beginners that are curious
00:15about the books and what better way to introduce it to them and just give a little bit of information
00:21about the book, you know, and I've got a lot of people on here that are advanced in the
00:27scripture lessons and everything, but just in case people are, you know, beginners and
00:32have that thirst for it, you know, I just want to do a little service to them like,
00:35like in my other shows where I, you know, do introductions to certain books in the Old
00:41and New Testament. So anyways, we'll start out here and it says here, you know, the composition
00:48date is in between 1450 BCE to 1400 BCE, somewhere right around there. This book is
00:57attributed to Moses as is documented in Numbers chapter 33 verse 2, when Moses wrote their
01:04goings out according to their journeys by the commandment of Yahweh. And these are their
01:09journeys according to their goings out. A little background here. The book of Numbers
01:16is the fourth book of the Bible and part of the Torah or the first five books of Moses.
01:22Its Hebrew name, of course, is Bemidbar, meaning in the desert. The English title is derived
01:31from the Latin numeri based on the census list of chapters 1 and 26 from which Yahweh
01:41organizes Israel into a military camp. Numbers is a continuation of Exodus and commences
01:49with Israel still encamped at the final arrival at the crossing of the Jordan River at the
01:55border of Canaan. The book deals with two different generations of Israelites, those
02:04who came out of Egypt but rebelled and subsequently shut out of the promised land and left to
02:15die off in the wilderness, wandering and their offspring, the next generation that matured
02:20in the wilderness and entered the land. Now the significance of this, Numbers defines
02:27the age and service of the Israeli priest, a foreshadowing of those who minister in the
02:33New Testament. It also reveals the gravity of the Passover, stating that anyone who neglected
02:39this observance was to be cut off from among the people. Chapter 9 verse 13, it also speaks
02:46of the law of the vow, a concept which has been largely forgotten in the modern world.
02:53Look up chapter 31 through 16, Paul in 1 Corinthians 10 verses 1 through 12 recounts
03:02Israel's advance from Egypt to the promised land and notes that their trials resulting
03:08from their sins are examples and warnings for us today. Many great illustrations of
03:15New Testament doctrine are found in the Old Testament, not just this book but the whole
03:20Old Testament in general. So that just gives you a little, you know, heads up on what the
03:26book's about and everything and how sacred it is and, you know, like these, the first
03:32five books and then, you know, the, you know, the kings and, you know, the prophets and
03:37everything. They're not just old dusty legends or myths or anything or not important today.
03:43They're just as important as they were then and in Yeshua's time because Yeshua and his
03:48apostles in the New Testament, they quote quite a bit from the Old Testament because
03:53the Old Testament was the scriptures of that day. So that's what they did. They, you know,
03:59brought out the old, you know, the old books there and they'd quote whatever from Psalms
04:04or Deuteronomy or, you know, whatever Exodus. And I just feel it's just important that,
04:11you know, should get a heads up and some information on the book and besides what's within it,
04:18you know, the value, the valuable information within it. So that's all I really wanted to
04:23talk about there. I want to, I want to thank you again for dropping by for another lesson
04:28and show and please comment below, watch my other videos and give me big likes, hit that
04:37notification bell and please subscribe. Like I said before, I'll have more content on.
04:43I don't know what it is. I'm just guided by the spirit. You know, the spirit basically
04:47tells me, you know, when I, you know, get overwhelmed, like what am I going to do next?
04:52You know, I'm like, I'm like, what lesson do I do? And I'm just sometimes sitting there
04:56or laying down or whatever. And the idea hits me, the words or the phrase or the verse or
05:01something just pops into my head. So I just, you know, introduce it on these shows. So
05:07I thank you again, you know, like I said, and please pray and, you know, enjoy your
05:14scripture studies and just keep on praying and keep the faith alive. And that's all I've
05:20got to say right now. So I thank you again till we meet again, peace out and Shalom.
