00:00It's election time in the UK, time to make sure the country's on track, and the politicians
00:10don't go off the rails.
00:17I'm in London, criss-crossing the city as the big day approaches.
00:23My first stop is in the east, a place called Barking.
00:27The Labour Party is top dog here, getting 61% of votes in the last election, more than
00:34double the tally for the ruling Conservatives.
00:37People here are talking about crime and unemployment.
00:40They say they feel neglected.
00:43So many people are so desperate for work here, it's really sad, yeah.
00:48We've had a shooting here the other week, on the same day we had a stabbing, we had
00:52open drug dealing of a day, you know, and there's a lot of crime.
00:57Next up, Richmond.
00:58The Liberal Democrats run these streets, winning 53% of the vote in 2019.
01:06This may be a leafy part of town, but it's hard to lay any roots.
01:11House prices are sky high, and for many, buying a home is out of the question.
01:17To be able to buy in London, it's just becoming impossible, so I'm having to move away from
01:21my friends and family just in order to buy my first home.
01:25Speaking of expenses, some are pointing to immigration, saying it's costing the country
01:30too much.
01:31Everything is breaking down, we've got too many people unfortunately, I mean, I don't
01:35know what you do with them, but...
01:38I have places to be and people to meet, so it's back on the tube.
01:43My destination, West London.
01:46We're in Fulham, home to the famous Chelsea FC.
01:50How do people here want the government to tackle their problems?
01:55Don't just say you're going to do something, yeah we're going to do it, we actually need
01:58to see these things happening.
02:01But some voters say the major parties have no real strategy.
02:05Both the same line of government, more or less the same policies, and no real ideas.
02:12Fulham is home turf for the Conservatives.
02:15The party won 50% of the vote in 2019.
02:19There's no shortage of cash here, but young people are feeling the squeeze.
02:25I'm only able to live here because I'm with my parents, it's not, you know, it's not a
02:29normal healthy situation to be in.
02:33It's been quite a journey.
02:34I've spoken to all sorts of different people.
02:37They want all sorts of different things.
02:40But they all think there's a divide between the people and the politicians.
02:46Mind the gap between the train and the platform.
02:49As they say on the Tube, mind the gap.
02:52Good advice for travellers like me.
02:55Good advice also for those in power.
