00:00After five years of a race against the clock, the Olympic Village is ready to open its doors and right on time.
00:07While the athletes won't arrive for another two weeks, it's now tour time for journalists from around the world.
00:14We are from Brazil.
00:16We're from Australia, television.
00:18Japan.
00:19China, Phoenix TV.
00:21There's a visit of the rooms. In total, there's 7,000 of them with their cardboard beds.
00:26And the gyms with 1,800 fitness machines.
00:30Nearby, there are the training areas.
00:32The practice basketball courts are inside what's normally a film studio.
00:37I know famous TV shows like The Bureau and Seine du Ménage were shot here.
00:43We rented all of these studios for the games so they could be training sites.
00:47In total, there are nine sports here, including basketball.
00:52It's here that the athletes will work up a sweat.
00:55But the Olympic Village is also a place to hang out, with a café in the central square.
01:00There's also a small supermarket, a salon and a post office to send letters and gifts back home.
01:08It's like a normal post office, with a counter and a scale to weigh packages.
01:14The post office, of course, has stamps and the traditional yellow mailbox.
01:19Already draped in blue, white and red, the French Athletes Complex is located
01:23between the health services and the dining halls.
01:26Which will serve 40,000 meals a day.
01:29With 50 different dishes per day.
01:32Here we're entering into a big space.
01:35Why big? Because it's our largest thematic restaurant.
01:38Here the theme is Asian food.
01:40There are 900 seats for the athletes.
01:43With the goal of being environmentally friendly, transport is electric.
01:47Most of the restaurants in all of the rooms do not have air conditioning.
01:51They do have fans and geothermal cooling floors, though.
01:54But some Olympic teams bought.
01:56So at their own cost, they ordered some 2,500 portable air conditioning units
02:00to make sure that they feel right at home.
