00:00It's the first storm of the hurricane season and the earliest on record to reach the maximum
00:04category 5. Storm Beryl has Jamaicans like these fishermen making preparations to avoid the worst.
00:12Really no Jamaica don't think we need one right now because this one is going to be a very
00:17disastrous because it's at category 4 here and being at category 4 well that is a really bad
00:24storm. The storm with winds of up to 250 kilometers per hour has already left a trail of damage in
00:31other Caribbean countries such as Grenada and Saint Vincent and the Grenadines. Jamaicans are
00:36bracing themselves for up to 12 inches of rainfall and possible flash floods when Beryl hits the
00:42island at 2pm on Wednesday. It will reach the Mexican peninsula of Yucatan two days later
00:47and northern Mexico on Sunday afternoon by which time it's likely to be upgraded to category 5.
00:54There's effort that is being made for persons to you know leave early and do any last minute
00:58preparation that needs to be done so I think we have a few hours and they said Jamaicans can be
01:02last minute but I think we have a few hours to do any little last minute prep that needs to be done.
01:08Yeah right now we're worrying about the storm here because we don't know it's category 5 and Jamaica
01:13people are worried everywhere is shopping and that and people are buying things so people are
01:19concerned about the storm of course. While Jamaica like much of the Caribbean is well used to tropical
01:25storms the severity of Hurricane Beryl so early in the season is causing alarm.
