00:04Ahead of the release of Season 2 of Unprisoned on July 17, Washington opened up about the ways
00:10that felons may be seen differently now that Trump has been convicted of 34 counts of falsifying
00:14business records, but is still able to run for president. She told the publication Bustle,
00:19Everything has changed in terms of how I feel about the so-called justice system.
00:23We're in such an interesting moment when it comes to the question of,
00:26what is a felon? I love what people have been sharing on social media,
00:29saying that if a person who is a convicted felon can still run for president,
00:32then we should be removing that box from job applications. The actress and producer also
00:36said that if a felon can run for president, she thinks they should be able to vote.
00:40She continued, That's huge. Huge. The irony is that Governor Ron DeSantis has been trying to
00:46make it impossible in Trump's home state. A bill was passed in Florida to allow formerly
00:50incarcerated folks to vote, and DeSantis has been trying to do everything he can to undercut that.
00:55Donald Trump may not be able to vote in his home state.
