00:00If you could go back in time and relive a single moment of your life, what would that
00:15moment be?
00:19I grew up with an older brother until I was 23 years old.
00:25He was my hero.
00:27He was charming, charismatic, the life of the party.
00:30He was everything I wanted to be like.
00:33He's everything I still want to be like.
00:36He was everything an older brother should be.
00:39His name was Bruce.
00:44You guys would have loved him.
00:46You could classify our sense of humor as immature.
00:51We used to do this thing where we'd be walking around town, he'd reach down, he'd grab my
00:55hand and we'd literally walk around town holding hands.
00:59We did this well into our 20s.
01:02We told each other it was just a joke, but I know deep down to both of us it meant so
01:07much more than that.
01:10They say a picture's worth a thousand words.
01:13If that's the case, then this one is worth a million to me.
01:26On March 28th, 2011, at 7 a.m., I got a phone call from my mom and it's one that replays
01:32in my head daily.
01:34She didn't have to say a word.
01:36I picked up the phone and I already knew, Bruce was gone.
01:52Loving someone you love is like living with a brick in your pocket.
01:55The weight never goes away, you just get used to carrying it around.
02:01In the eight years since he's passed, I've learned that it's not whether the glass is
02:05half full or half empty, it's being thankful that there's even water in it at all.
02:13If I could turn back time, and go back to when we were kids...
02:43If I could relive one moment, and go back to when we were kids...
03:12If I could relive one moment, it would be that one.
03:19Thank you.
03:42That was amazing.
03:51There are so many reasons why we love magic.
03:53It can be intriguing, amazing, it can be surreal, and it fills us with a sense of wonder.
03:59But I think the most powerful thing about magic is that we know deep down in our souls
04:04that it's really a metaphor for life.
04:08I've been obsessed with that for so long.
04:11For me, real magic has been an impossible lifelong dream.
04:16I can fly close to it, but I can never quite touch it.
04:18I'm like a moth flying at a light.
04:21Now the piece I prepared for this evening is an entire life cycle that unfolds in just
04:26a couple of minutes.
04:28And it uses something so ordinary that you would never believe we could breathe life
04:32into it.
04:33It's a £20 note.
04:34Amanda, I'd like you to sign that note for me so that you recognise it when you see it
04:39again.
04:40I've got a pen there.
04:41Perhaps go across that bit there would be good.
04:42Nice and visible.
04:48Thank you.
04:50I'm now going to attempt to breathe life into this £20 note.
05:11That's so good of you.
05:37That's so good of you.
05:40♪
05:50♪

06:10Please don't take your eyes off this note.
06:12I will attempt to make it completely disappear.
06:15Please don't take your eyes off this note.
06:17I will attempt to make it completely disappear.

06:50Right.
06:54That bulb's gone out.
07:00I don't know if you can see, but...
07:04It looks to me like they're in... It's still hot.
07:11There is something inside this light bulb.
07:16It's the money. It's the money.
07:18It's a piece of paper.
07:20Better be. I lent him that.
07:22And it looks to me an awful lot like a £20 note.
07:26How does he do it?
07:28The light bulb is completely sealed.
07:30Completely sealed inside the vacuum of the bulb.
07:33£20 note.
07:35I suppose the challenge now is, how do I get it out?
07:38Well, that bit's easy. We don't need magic for that.
07:44The question is, is this really the note that you signed?
07:50And I think you'll find that it is.
07:54CHEERING AND APPLAUSE
08:25Two years ago, I was lucky enough to be on Europe
08:29and Britain's Got Talent.
08:31I was just eight years old.
08:33At the time, I thought that magic was all about shocking and fooling people.
08:37But since then, I've realised it's about so much more.
08:41It's about inspiring kids like me to be more confident
08:45and to make adults feel like children once again.
08:48Aw!
08:50Tonight, I want to do something that hopefully will show you
08:53that magic can be inspirational as well as amazing.
08:58Over the past two years, I've been lucky enough to travel the world
09:02thanks to Britain's Got Talent.
09:04And during that time, I've taken photos with my family
09:08to remind me of the fun times that I've had.
09:10Some truly amazing memories.
09:13Fun times with my mum.
09:15First time getting on an aeroplane.
09:18Sneaking backstage into Simon's dressing room without him knowing.
09:22Sorry, Simon. No worries.
09:25Walking our dog, Hoover.
09:27Sometimes the simplest things can be the best.
09:31You get the idea.
09:33Simon, please touch the back of any one of my photos.
09:36Any one at all? Any one at all.
09:38Er... I'm going to choose that one.
09:40That one? Yeah. Hang on.
09:42That one there. That one?
09:44That one. OK. Yeah.
09:47I'd like you to look at it and hold it close to your heart.
09:50But not show you? No, don't show anyone.
09:54And hold it close to your heart.
09:56We'll come back to that in a minute. OK.
09:59I've been so lucky to experience these incredible things.
10:02So tonight, out of nothing,
10:05I'd like to try to create a positive message for everyone.
10:09If I can do that, then there really would be magic.
10:12Look how tiny she looks on that big table. Tiny!

11:33Simon, for the first time,
11:35can you hold up the photo that you chose and let everyone see?
11:38Well, of course.
11:43Ah! That's our dog, Hoover,
11:45who, as a family, we all loved very much.
11:48He's a constant reminder to appreciate what you have today,
11:51because tomorrow, it may be gone forever.
11:54This one's for you, Hoover.
12:06Wow. Did you see that?

13:17When I was a kid, I saw a magician perform a routine
13:20where he got locked inside of a box,
13:23and in front of everyone, he picked the locks to the box and escaped.
13:27Now, it wasn't the most exciting thing,
13:29but as a kid, I was absolutely fascinated.
13:32My dad saw exactly how fascinated I was,
13:35and without me knowing, he built me a box to escape from.
13:40There it is right there.
13:42So tonight, as an homage to my dad,
13:45I'd like to perform for you a version that he built for me.
13:48However, I've never done it this way before,
13:51and I'll never do it this way again.
13:55The concept is very simple.
13:58In a moment, I'll be locked inside of that box,
14:02my hands handcuffed on the outside.
14:07The box will be raised 20 feet into the air.
14:11There are four fuses connected to the bottom of the box.
14:15They'll be set on fire.
14:18The fire takes approximately 56 seconds
14:21to travel up the fuse and reach the box.
14:24When it does, the box is set to explode.
14:30My job is to free myself from the handcuffs,
14:33open up the box, and grab the safety rope hanging beside it.
14:39We also have a camera,
14:42so you can keep track of my progress inside the box
14:46the entire time.
14:54At this point, I'd like to invite Ant and Dec out on stage
14:57to examine everything we are about to use.
15:02Thank you, gentlemen. I appreciate it. Thank you.
15:05I have a pair of handcuffs. These are police regulation handcuffs.
15:09I want you to make sure there's no little button that opens them up.
15:12They're not trick cuffs in any way, shape, or form.
15:15I have the key. If you could please hold on to that.
15:17Make sure only the key opens the lock as well.
15:19You just put it in the hole, turn it around,
15:23and they open.
15:25Your job is to hold on to the key.
15:27If you could join me over here.
15:29Stand here and the other on that side over there.
15:34I'll take the cuffs. Thank you.
15:36We will go ahead and lock my right hand in.
15:39Thank you very much.
15:43And if you can do my left hand, please.
15:46Thank you very much.
15:49And if you can also hand me the pick right there.
15:52It's attached to that chain.
15:54Right there.
15:55Now you'll notice there is one more lock on top.
15:58The lid will be closed and that will be locked.
16:00Just verify it is in fact secure.
16:02And when it's locked, please exit stage as quickly as you can
16:05for your own safety.
16:07Thank you very much. Let's begin.
16:28Yeah.
16:30Let's go.
16:31Okay.
16:59I hope this isn't stressful.
17:04It is going to be very stressful.
17:28Let's go.
17:58Oh, my God.
18:13Oh, my God.
18:28Oh, my God.
18:58Oh, my God.
19:05What the hell?
19:29Three years ago, I was lucky that I got to stand on stage
19:33next to one of my heroes.
19:36Fergus Ancorn was a fellow soldier and magician.
19:39And despite being a prisoner of war in World War II,
19:42he always remained one of the most positive
19:44and inspirational people that you could ever meet.
19:48Unfortunately, he passed away last year aged 99,
19:51but he taught me some valuable life lessons.
19:54He taught me it's not how much time that we have here in life
19:57that matters, but instead, it's how we choose to spend that time.
20:00That's what really counts.
20:10He taught me to live in the moment
20:12and create lasting memories every single day.
20:15Now, one way we keep track of our happy memories
20:18are through photographs.
20:20Now, one way we keep track of our happy memories
20:22are through photographs.
20:24And Simon, I have up here my social media page,
20:27which has got photos of happy memories
20:29from over the last few years of my life.
20:31What I'd like you to do, Simon,
20:33as I scroll through the images,
20:35I would just like you to tell me when to stop scrolling, please.
20:40Now, OK, we're going to leave that to settle on a memory.
20:43David, since being on the show, I've been very, very lucky.
20:46I've performed all around the world.
20:48I've been very lucky. Some of the places I've been to are here.
20:50We've got Germany, Italy, America, Afghanistan, Austria.
20:54What I'd like you to do, David, is choose a string
20:56and pull one of the tags all the way out for us.
21:02Please tell us where you've chosen.
21:05Toronto, Canada.
21:06Toronto, Canada. If I take that back,
21:08Toronto, Canada, that is one of my favourite places.
21:14Now watch closely.
21:19TORONTO 2015 PAN AM, PARAPAN AM GAMES
21:27Alicia.
21:28Did you get that off of me?
21:30This here, Alicia, is my lucky pocket watch.
21:35You see, this pocket watch, Alicia,
21:37you'll see as you spin this dial here at the top of the watch,
21:40you will see the time changes.
21:42What I'd like you to do, Alicia,
21:44is to carry on spinning that dial until I ask you to stop, please.
21:47Thank you.
21:48David, a moment ago you chose Toronto, Canada from the selection.
21:51Simon, you've stopped a scrolling on an image.
21:54It's a photo of me and a puppy.
21:57Amanda, can you just tell us, where am I tagged in this photograph?
22:01At the top.
22:02You are in, wow, you're in Toronto, Canada.
22:05Toronto, Canada, the same place.
22:07Now that may be a coincidence,
22:09but watch closely.
22:11There is something hidden in the background of this photograph.
22:15What?
22:17You see, hidden in the background of this photograph,
22:20we have a clock.
22:22Amanda, can you tell us what time is on that clock?
22:24It says two o'clock.
22:25Two o'clock. Alicia, if I take that back from you.
22:28Alicia, can you please tell us what time have you created on the watch?
22:32Ten to two.
22:33Ten minutes to two?
22:35Yes.
22:36OK, you're ten minutes early.
22:37Sorry.
22:38But that's OK.
22:39That's OK, because I didn't tell you why this is my lucky watch.
22:42You see, this watch was a gift
22:44given to me by my friend Fergus before he passed away.
22:47And he's going to be the hero of tonight's story,
22:49because engraved on the back is one of his favourite mottos.
22:52Alicia, can you please read that out for us?
22:54A good soldier is always ten minutes early.
22:58Oh!
23:00It's a pleasure to be back.

30:02Look at the photo.
30:09Amanda, what you don't realise is that Tom has been with you...
30:17No. ..longer than what you think.
30:21Simon, pick up the photo and look at it.
30:27No.
30:29LAUGHTER
30:40Oh, my God.
