00:00Now, this is wise money spent on Tyrese Maxey, because of course, Maxey was fantastic for
00:11Philadelphia last year.
00:12In fact, when Joel Embiid went out, they didn't win a ton, but they continued to play well
00:17because Maxey played so well.
00:18So he gets a five-year, $204 million maximum contract extension.
00:23And look, this is one that makes sense to me, Matt, when I look at it, because I saw
00:26how well Philadelphia played with him leading the show.
00:31So this is really good news for them.
00:33It seems like they just wanted to build this, like, three-player core, you know, similar
00:36like the Heat did several years ago.
00:39It's been very hard to match a lot of these teams trying to do that.
00:42But I give the credit to Philly for that one.
00:45Yeah.
00:46And the other thing, too, when you look at sort of that big three era, that seems to
00:51be a little bit bygone.
00:54It seems like now, especially with the new salary cap rules, it's going to be much tougher
00:58to do that.
00:59And even if you do it, do you have enough depth to really get through in the playoffs?
01:04Well, I think a little bit of the difference with a team like Philly is one of your players
01:10is one of the best players in the NBA.
01:12And that sort of elevates your game.
01:15And Maxey, even though that contract is huge and it seems ridiculous, it's still not quite
01:21as much as, and this is going to sound insane, it might not be as much as he really deserves
01:27when he plays out the length of this contract.
01:29And I'm saying that based on the ridiculousness of NBA contracts.
01:33I mean, if he continues to play at a really high All-NBA level, you're going to look back
01:38at that contract and say, you know, that's not a terrible deal.
01:42And so they're kind of getting him.
01:44Yes, it's a Max and they're still paying him a ton, but they're kind of still getting him
01:49at the lower end of his career while getting the other guys at sort of the tail ends of
01:53this, their career.
01:54So, like I said, I don't think the window's open for very long, but if the things come
01:59together right in the right year, they're going to be a tough out.
