00:00Okay, folks, we are back and we are back from the brand new Tom Dove Pinehurst No. 10 golf
00:05course which opened just a few months ago. We're on the eighth hole and we're on the
00:08eighth hole because, well, we got to talk about the eighth hole at Pinehurst No. 10.
00:13Whenever a new course at a place like Pinehurst opens up, the number one question that you get,
00:17what course is it like? Is it like No. 2, No. 4, No. 8? Undoubtedly, when people play the eighth
00:22hole at Pinehurst No. 10, they are going to say, this reminds me of Tobacco Road,
00:27from the Matterhorn mound off the tee, the blind shot, the entire aesthetic of the hole.
00:32This puppy reminds people of the golf course, Mike Strance, 30 minutes down the road,
00:36Tobacco Road. That gets talked about a ton. This hole, too, gets talked about.
00:40That Matterhorn and the history of this place, the Pinehurst Sand Mines, which closed in the 1970s,
00:46all that mining that went on left these giant mounds and dunes and all kinds of topography
00:51there that Pinehurst turned into the logo of the sand mines. This Matterhorn is used for the logo
00:56and here we are. You got to hit a blind shot. If you can favor the right side of this fairway,
01:00you're going to have a much better look into the green, which is also guarded by a giant mound.
01:04If you're on the left side, you might be a little bit blind. Let's get to the tee shot. Let's see
01:08how we do. As you can tell, we're working on a little feel versus real. We're trying not to
01:12bring the club way back inside and give ourselves a little bit more of a window, a little bit of a
01:16slot to swing this bad boy. Pretty good swing here, just down the left side. Again, it was close.
01:21You're going to see in the mounting of the fairway, if you can get it just right at where I hit it,
01:25it'll catch a mound, it'll carry them, it'll bounce, it'll trundle and end up in a great spot.
01:29When you're trundling around the golf course, folks, I cannot recommend enough G4. G4 is the
01:34best shoemaker in the history of golf and they've got a new shoe out. It's called the G18. They
01:40backed this puppy with research for optimal performance, unbeatable comfort. The new G18
01:45keeps your game and style on point. You can check out the G18 golf shoe, plenty of others now at G4.
01:51Do not forget about G4.com slash four. That is G-F-O-R-E.com slash four for 10% off your first
01:59order. As you can see, we're in the fairway here. It's a short hole. We did a good job getting it
02:03in the fairway, but we cannot even see the pin. So I had to run way over to the right, which I
02:08get exhausted. Luckily I have the G4s on, got a 56 degree wedge in here. Can't even get the perfect
02:13laser yardage because you got to run way right. Then you're thinking about what is my geometry
02:17skills? Is this the same distance? But I had it at around a 90, 95 yard shot. I got a 56 degree
02:22wedge. Again, we're working on the feel versus real. Hit well. Can't see a thing. This is why
02:26you'd rather be on the right side of the fairway. You can hear from my brother, good shot. Can't see
02:30a thing. Pretty happy with that. I know we're doing a lot of the three hole things, but this
02:34hole is so cool, so talked about, so unique. I absolutely love it. Look at this view back down
02:39when you're putting. Look how unique that looks, how different that looks from country club golf,
02:42from a U.S. Open type course, from Pioneers number four, number eight even. This is unique.
02:47It's cool. It's awesome. You're almost in your own little funnel, your own little half pipe here
02:52on this hole, if you can keep it in play. We got about 15 feet down the hill for Birdie.
02:57Just a horrific read. Didn't break. Wasn't even close to the proper speed. A little bit
03:01mesmerized by my surroundings, which as you can tell, I love this hole, so that shouldn't surprise
03:05you too much. What should surprise you is it didn't break the first time. So let's play a bunch
03:10and break the second time, miss again. That's an extremely disappointing three putt. But at the end
03:14of the day, we're here to show you this hole, show you this new golf course, Pioneers number 10,
03:18show you a bunch of the interesting features that if you're booking a trip, you're trying to think,
03:22should I play number 10 or not? This eighth hole is fantastic. It's going to be talked about. It's
03:26going to lead you to wonder how you could have played it differently, where you're trying to
03:29hit it off the tee. It's a little bit disorienting. I love it. I think it's great. I love the G18s.
03:34I think they're great. Reminder, G4.com slash four gets you 10% off. And if you're lucky enough to
03:39book a trip to Pioneers, throw a number 10 on there and let me know how you do on this eighth hole.
