Intense PGA Tour Showdown: Top Four Contenders Clash

00:00This is the first time in any number of weeks, and we have just come off of five elite events
00:07in seven weeks with two majors, and of course three signature events.
00:12But for the first time in as long as I can remember on a Sunday, we have four guys with
00:17single digit odds as the outright winner.
00:19Now usually when Scott is involved, he's down there and he's the favorite and then everyone
00:23else is at least double digits.
00:25But we got four guys and Cam Young is one of them.
00:28Now he's one of those guys up at the top that doesn't have a win yet.
00:31He's got seven runner ups in his young PGA Tour career.
00:36Whereas you've got somebody that's leading like Akshay Bhatia, who's got two wins in
00:39the last 11 months.
00:40I mean, the guy skipped college.
00:43He came right out on the tour.
00:44He's been winning.
00:45And ever since he fixed the putter last summer, I mean, the guy has been electric.
00:49You would think that's a guy you want to lean towards.
00:52But you know, Joe, I travel with the tour most of the weeks that there's a signature
00:56event or a major.
00:57And last week I walked with Bhatia, Tom Kim and Scotty Scheffler in the final group.
01:02And Bhatia on that back nine did not show me anything.
01:05So I have concerns today going into his final nine, whereas there's some guys around them
01:10that definitely have shown that on a Sunday they could step up.
01:14One of the names, if you want me to give you a name today that I love with some value is
01:17EVR, Eric Van Royen.
01:19And I know you're probably saying, who is this guy?
01:21But guess what?
01:22Plus 1400.
01:24He won back in November on the PGA Tour at the Worldwide Technology Championship by shooting
01:2863 on a Sunday with a total of 27 under par.
01:32This thing's a total birdie fest.
01:34And what I love most about EVR is that the wind, which I mentioned just earlier, all
01:39the par fives are playing into the wind today.
01:41So those easy birdies these guys were getting the first couple of days.
01:44Now they're going to have to score in some other places.
01:47EVR leads the tour, leads the top 10 guys here in the field in par three scoring.
01:53So you got to love the fact that he's going to play well on the threes, which are very
01:56difficult there at Detroit Golf Club.
01:58And he's a lead at par four scoring as well.
02:01I think he can step up there today and he can challenge the two guys at the top.
