00:00Victor Davila took a cross to the chest in the Canada penalty box and then played it
00:04down and then tried an acrobatic scissor kick and went just wide to the right, nearly giving
00:08Chile the lead.
00:10Minutes later Davila took another chance on a half-volley that rocketed past the goal,
00:14this time to the left.
00:16Chile went down with 10 men in the 26-foot after Suazo received his second yellow card.
00:22Match recap As the sun set behind Inter and Co Stadium
00:25in Orlando, Florida on Saturday night, Chile and Canada knew this could be their last
00:30match in this year's edition of CONMEBOL COPA AMERICA.
00:33While Canada could likely still qualify for the knockout rounds with a draw, Chile needed
00:38to leave central Florida with all three points to extend their golden generation's run
00:41one more game.
00:43The first half was a scrappy affair, with few clear-cut chances.
00:48Chilean forward Victor Davila looked the most likely to score early on.
00:52On the 21-foot, Davila positioned himself in Canada's penalty box, and was in great
00:57position to receive a cross from Gabriel Suazo.
01:01When the pass came in, he took it on his chest and then attempted an acrobatic half-volley
01:04that narrowly missed the Canadian's goal, going just wide right.
01:09Minutes later, Davila took another half-volley from the top of the box that this time went
01:13wide to the left.
01:15After half-hour of play, Canada would begin to hold on to more of the possession while
01:19Chile switched their strategy to just trying to hit the CONCACAF team on the counter.
01:24After 45 minutes, the match was still locked at 0-0.
01:28In the second half, it was Chile who looked likelier to score as play resumed.
01:33La Roja fought tenaciously while ever with a man advantage following Suazo's dismissal
01:37during the first half, Canada struggled to get control of the ball.
01:42Deep into the second half, Canada began to become more dominant, especially around the
01:4680-foot.
01:49Substitute Tajan Buchanan brought an electric spark to his side and forced a magnificent
01:52save from Gabriel Arias.
01:55His inclusion helped turn the tide back in the Canadian's favor and see out the draw.
02:00Chile at the very end piled on the pressure, but Canada secured the victory, one of the
02:04biggest in their country's history.
02:07It was a historic night for Canada, they became only the third CONMEBOL COPA AMERICA invitee
02:12to qualify for the knockout rounds in their first appearance.
02:16Jesse Marsh's men certainly worked hard for it.
02:19Their eyes will be glued to the TV tomorrow to see who between Venezuela, Ecuador or Mexico
02:24will be the team they face in their first-ever CONMEBOL COPA AMERICA quarter-final.
02:29What's next?
02:31Canada will play either Venezuela, Mexico or Ecuador at AT&T Stadium in Arlington, Texas
02:35in the next round, whoever between the three finishes top of Group B while the Chile bids
