00:00In the whole month of June, we've been focusing on various conditions
00:03affecting pediatric urological conditions
00:06On this occasion, we're going to talk about something quite peculiar
00:10which is cancer
00:17You might be wondering why am I talking about cancer in young children
00:21In fact, surprise surprise, testicular cancer only happen in younger group of adult men
00:29In fact, we know testicular cancer commonly affect men between 18 to 38
00:36And in this age group, sometimes it even affect men in adolescence between 18 to 21
00:44Testicular cancer itself is quite peculiar and it's on the rise
00:48We don't know why
00:49Some people blame it on chemicals we're exposed to
00:52Some people blame it on the hormones that men are exposed to
00:56One thing for sure, if somebody has an undescended testicle
01:01your testicle is closer to your core body temperature
01:05then your risk of getting testicular cancer is 50 times higher
01:11So there are effectively two types of testicular cancer
01:15Seminoma and non-seminomatous germ cell tumors
01:20As far as the readers and also viewers are concerned
01:23there's not much difference between these two
01:25However, after we remove the testicle because of the cancer
01:30we will analyze it and see whether they are susceptible to chemotherapy or not
01:37The interesting fact about testicular cancer is
01:40Number one, it happens in younger group of men
01:44Number two, it's painless
01:48So the testicle itself feels hard like a nodular area that is not smooth
01:53which testicle should be
01:55and it is completely painless
01:58And therefore, painless lumps in the testicle is cancer until proven otherwise
02:04The third thing that is very peculiar about testicular cancer
02:08is that it is almost completely curable despite the stages
02:14Testicular cancer are very receptive to chemotherapy
02:19In fact, platinum-based chemotherapy can almost eradicate this cancer
02:24even in fourth stage
02:26Therefore, the cure rate is nearly 97% if the patient receives chemotherapy
02:34So therefore, despite men or adolescents being young
02:39we always teach them to do self-examination
02:42because that self-examination, if they find a painless nodule
02:46that can save their life because testicular cancer is almost curable
02:51For the month of July, we're going to start fresh
02:54We're going to talk about various conditions that affect erectile dysfunction
02:58And you might have heard that recently there was a study published to show
03:02that men who has got erectile dysfunction
03:05whenever they remove their foreskin or they do an operation for erectile dysfunction
03:11they realize that there's a lot of microplastics inside the actual penis itself
03:17So what is this all about?
03:19If you want to find out, stay tuned for next week's Putting Dr. G on the Spot
