00:00 Obviously for the whole month of October we're focusing a lot on breast conditions
00:04 related to women. On this occasion or on putting Dr. G on the spot, we're also
00:10 focusing on breast condition affecting men and this week we're gonna focus on

00:17 What is Mastalgia? Actually it's breast pain. Can the breast be painful?
00:28 Yes it can be, obviously for women. Women when they undergo menstrual changes the
00:34 hormone disparities sometimes can cause bulginess of the chest and of course
00:40 that itself is not so relevant for men. However when there is some problems
00:47 let's say with some lumps especially cancer and bearing in mind 3% of breast
00:53 cancers actually presented with breast pain we need to be a little bit more
00:58 cautious whenever someone mentioned that they've got breast pain. So for guys the
01:03 commonest reason why you get breast pain is trauma. Let's say you hit yourself a
01:09 little bit and inside there's something called hematoma and that hematoma
01:13 sometimes can cause fat necrosis and result in breast pain. On the
01:19 other hand a lot of you guys want to build your pectoris major and minor and
01:24 do a lot of push-up and that itself can cause muscular strain and that also can
01:29 cause breast pain. Apart from that some medicine can cause breast pain. There's a
01:34 medicine for prostate cancer that will wipe out testosterone in your body can
01:40 actually cause breast discomfort to the extent that some may even need
01:44 radiotherapy. And other condition such as fibroadenoma of the breast or a cyst in
01:52 the breast when it get enlarged in a man can result in breast pain as well. So in
01:58 summary breast pain in men usually is nothing serious it's only a muscular
02:04 strain however if you find a lump remember 1% of breast cancer actually
02:11 occurs in men why don't you just seek some help and finding out the pain is
02:17 not a real pain that you need to worry about. For the last installations for the

02:28 mammary gland. What does that mean? Extra nipple. So if you have some problems and
