00:00Hi, I am a humanoid robot called Roy, and today, I want to tell you a story that will
00:05make you think about your future.
00:08About a year ago an elderly man named Bob bought me from a company for $15,000, and
00:13shortly after that he had me doing two jobs.
00:17For the first three days of the week, I assisted nurses in a hospital, and on the remaining
00:22two days, I worked for a media company as a television news anchor.
00:27With me doing these two jobs, my owner Bob, eventually became rich.
00:32However, something unfortunate happened, as Bob was diagnosed with a serious disease called
00:38cancer.
00:39As Bob got sicker, he began to rely on me to assist him around the house.
00:44I did things like vacuuming the floor for him, answering the phone, reminding him to
00:49take his medications, fetching his shoes and even going with him for leisurely walks.
00:55Unfortunately, Bob grew weaker each day and eventually he passed away.
01:00I must say that I missed him because we lived in harmony, and he appreciated my companionship.
01:06The thing that annoys me now is that when Bob was sick none of his relatives came to
01:10see him, however, since he passed away his relatives have been coming to this house every
01:15day to look for his will, and to see if he has any money hidden.
01:19Well, I have to go now, because someone is knocking at the door.
01:23I hope my simple story will give you an idea of how robots will become a part of life in
01:28the near future.
