00:00Hey everyone, in this video, I'll walk you through the step-by-step process of transferring
00:04a domain name from Namecheap to Cloudflare.
00:07Whether you're looking to take advantage of Cloudflare's powerful security and performance
00:10features, or simply want to consolidate your domains under one registrar, this video will
00:14guide you through the entire process.
00:23Step 1.
00:24Check Domain Transfer Eligibility Before we begin, let's ensure that your domain
00:29is eligible for transfer.
00:30According to ICANN rules, a domain cannot be transferred if it has been registered or
00:35previously transferred within the last 60 days.
00:37The WHOIS registrant contact information was modified in the last 60 days.
00:42The domain is currently locked or has a status that prevents transfers.
00:46To check if your domain meets these requirements, log in to your Namecheap account, go to the
00:50domain list, and click Manage next to the domain you want to transfer.
00:54Step 2.
00:55Unlock your domain and obtain the auth code.
00:58Next, you'll need to unlock your domain for transfer and obtain the authorization code,
01:02also known as the auth code or EPP code.
01:04From the Manage page, go to the Sharing and Transfer tab.
01:13In the Transfer Out section, click the Unlock button to disable the registrar lock.
01:17Then, click the Get Auth Code button, and the code will be sent to the registrant email
01:21address associated with your domain.
01:23Please note that the registrant email address may be different from your Namecheap account
01:27email address.
01:28Step 3.
01:29Remove WHOIS privacy.
01:31If you have enabled WHOIS privacy for your domain, you may need to remove it temporarily.
01:37Some registrars prohibit transfers if WHOIS privacy is enabled.
01:41Step 4.
01:43Initiate the transfer on Cloudflare.
01:44Now, it's time to initiate the transfer on the Cloudflare side.
01:48Log in to your Cloudflare account and navigate to the Account Home page.
01:52Click on Transfer Domains, and Cloudflare will display the zones available for transfer.
01:57Select the domain you want to transfer and proceed with the payment process.
02:00Remember, when transferring a domain, you are required by ICANN to extend its registration
02:04by one year from the expiration date.
02:07Step 5.
02:08Enter the auth code and confirm contact information.
02:11On the next page, enter the auth code you received from Namecheap for each domain you're
02:15transferring.
02:16You'll also need to confirm or input your contact information for the registration.
02:20Cloudflare redacts this information by default, but it's essential to provide accurate WHOIS
02:25contact details.
02:26Failure to provide accurate information may result in suspension or deletion of your domain.
02:32Step 6.
02:33Approve the transfer.
02:35After submitting the transfer request, Cloudflare will send a form of authorization email to
02:40the registrant email address.
02:41Your previous registrar will also email you a confirmation link to approve the transfer.
02:46If you click the confirmation link from Namecheap, the transfer process will be accelerated.
02:50If you don't take any action, Namecheap can wait up to five days to process the transfer
02:54to Cloudflare.
02:56Step 7.
02:57Monitor the transfer status.
02:59You can check the status of your transfer in the domain registration section of your
03:02Cloudflare account.
03:03The possible statuses include, transfer in progress, Cloudflare is waiting for Namecheap
03:08to confirm the request, pending approval, Namecheap has received the request and can
03:13wait up to five days to release the domain, transfer rejected, the transfer has been rejected,
03:18and you may need to retry the process.
03:21That's it.
03:22By following these steps, you've successfully transferred your domain from Namecheap to
03:25Cloudflare.
