00:00Um, I mean, Jeffrey Dahmer's pretty fascinating, I think I would have loved to have met him.
00:07That's Ariana Grande on a podcast recalling the time she said she'd have dinner with serial
00:11killer Jeffrey Dahmer, an admission that hasn't exactly gone over swimmingly.
00:16This did not sit right with the family of Tony Hughes, who was one of the 17 people
00:20that Jeffrey Dahmer killed, and they are super upset about this.
00:25They say that Ariana doesn't get a pass for saying that she just has a fascination for
00:29true crime, that this just means she's sick in the head, basically glamorizing who Jeffrey
00:34Dahmer is.
00:35But does the fact that Dahmer was a monster mean we shouldn't want to understand what
00:39makes him tick?
00:40I feel terrible for any of the victims of Jeffrey Dahmer.
00:44I feel awful for them, and I mean that.
00:48At the same time, if I could choose who I would want to talk to, he would be on my list.
00:54There are lots of people who kill people, who are fascinating subjects for interviews
00:57because people want to know what makes somebody that way.
01:01But while it's okay for people to be fascinated with Dahmer...
01:04It's also okay for the families to say, your fascination disgusts us.
01:07The family's also got a right to be offended.
01:09So I think both things can be true.
01:11100%.
01:12100%.
01:13Bottom line, the families of the victims deserve respect, but you can't really blame Ariana
01:18for wanting to understand the mind of Jeffrey Dahmer.
01:21I think it's really useful to know what was in his head because you want to know who else
01:25is out there and what the signs are.
01:28Absolutely.
