00:00Thank you Mr. Speaker, thank you to the gentleman from Georgia for yielding the time.
00:06The measures under the rule before us today are about securing our nation, securing our
00:09borders and standing up to our adversaries who would love nothing more than to do us
00:15harm.
00:16This week, House Republicans will address the ongoing national security crisis by considering
00:21three critical appropriations bills.
00:23The Fiscal Year 2025 Homeland Security Appropriations Act, the Fiscal Year 2025 Defense Appropriations
00:29Act and the Fiscal Year 2025 State Foreign Operations and Related Programs Appropriations
00:34Act.
00:35These bills aim to secure our borders, bolster our national defense and strengthen our global
00:40standing amongst our adversaries.
00:42Under the Department of Homeland Security Appropriations Act, we are funding for actual
00:47border security, something my colleagues on the other side of the aisle have time and
00:52again refused to support.
00:54This bill includes funding for 22,000 additional Border Patrol agents and $600 million for
01:01the construction of the southern border wall.
01:04My own district has had a front row seat to this administration's disastrous border policies.
01:10Not only has the Biden border policy coupled with New York State's sanctuary policies allowed
01:16for a flood of illegal immigrants into our cities, towns and communities, but our northern
01:21border has seen a surge of illegal crossings like never before.
01:25I've talked to the Buffalo sector of the Border Patrol and I know firsthand that these
01:30agents need Congress to have their backs and to give them the tools they need to do their
01:35jobs safely and effectively.
01:38Mr. Speaker, 143 individuals from the FBI's terror watch list have been apprehended at
01:45our northern border.
01:46That is twice as many that have been apprehended at the southern border.
01:50And that's just the ones that have been caught.
01:53This administration's open border policies have turned every state into a border state,
01:57in every town into a border town, jeopardizing the safety and the security of every American.
02:03The Homeland Security bill also provides $822 million for transportation and removal operations
02:11and $300 million for border security technology, all essential to removing dangerous criminals
02:18from our country and securing our borders.
02:20Mr. Speaker, it is time for action.
02:23It is time to secure our borders, support our allies, put American interests and safety
02:27first.
02:28I urge my colleagues to support this rule and the critical legislation that it brings
02:33forward.
02:34Thank you and I yield back, Mr. Speaker.
