00:00Hey guys, Paul here from the Game Boy PS, and we're going to be doing a Reacts to Nintendo
00:19Treehouse Live August 2022, I guess.
00:23Okay.
00:24Um, in here there's Splatoon and Harvestella.
00:28There's Splatoon single player, and they can show the multiplayer stages, and then Harvestella
00:32is something I haven't heard of, have you?
00:34I have heard of it, uh, Square Enix is doing, it's going to be a Rune Factory-like game.
00:39So you'll be planting, harvesting, and then you also go out and do dungeon crawling.
00:44So you want to start with Splatoon, and then I skip over to Harvestella at some point,
00:47because I don't think watching the entire thing is going to be...
00:50Yeah, and we will be probably skipping parts of this.
01:09Hey everybody, welcome to a very special edition of Nintendo Treehouse Live for Splatoon 3.
01:16I am Dimitris, and I'm here joined by Taryn, and our own Treehouse Squid research labber.

01:31All right, so what do we have for you today?
01:32Well, we got some really cool stuff.
01:35We wanted to show you today was a little bit of what Splatoon 3 is about, including the
01:40actual single player story.
01:42So we're going to start off with a single player deep dive, and then kind of show you
01:46some come back, and show you some new weapons, stages, and strategies.
01:51For those who have never actually heard of Splatoon 3 before, it's a team-based action
01:55game, well, multiplayer game, with also single player story mode, which you're seeing today.
02:00So what you're seeing right in front of you actually is the world of Alterna.
02:05I'm sorry, we were supposed to ooh, weren't we?
02:09In unison.
02:10Ooh.
02:12So listening to them laugh is something.
02:15Sorry, we're silly.
02:16We're having a good time here.
02:18So I am in control of AZ-3, and I have a weapon that can use ink.
02:25So for those who have never seen Splatoon before, for Splatoon 3 and other games in
02:30the series, you can actually swim in your own ink, and refill, and do many other great
02:35things with it.
02:36It's really, really.
02:37It's really, really dumb.
02:39Splatoon 3, do I have to worry about, you know, playing the other two games?
02:43You don't have to, it's okay.
02:44It's okay.

02:46This game has a great story, though, and it'll have the same kind of feel between those who
02:50have played Splatoon 2 before, or even the Octo Expansion, which was the NSO expansion
02:56pack you can get right now.
02:58Alright, so, one thing I want to point out for this story is, you see right here, this
03:04is Fuzzy Ooze.
03:05You actually want to be careful.
03:06Oh my gosh, what are you doing?
03:07You did that on purpose, right?
03:08I did it on purpose.
03:09I was like, whoa!
03:11So, Fuzzy Ooze, bad.
03:14Something's going on here.
03:15Something's not right.
03:16So, there's a big mystery going on with the Fuzzy Ooze.
03:19We want to kind of, like, you know, see what's going on with Alterna, and how is this happening?
03:23We really want to, you know, really find out.
03:25Okay, so with that in mind, there's some other additional things we'll kind of go over as
03:30we play through these stages, such as, like, you know, the little hidden secrets, this
03:35little guy here called Small Fry, and some other little things.
03:39But first, what I'm going to do is I'm actually going to pass this controller over to Tan.
03:43To me.
03:44Okay.

03:47There you go.
03:48And we're going to actually go to a stage called Twirling, Swirling, and Whirling.
03:53And just allow us to get that set up.
03:55One moment there.
03:57Here we go.
03:58And to be clear, you're playing as Agent 3, but this is not the Agent 3 you know.
04:03This is a new Agent 3.
04:05So don't worry.
04:06The other one is still around.
04:10But this is a new one.

04:19So what you'll see right here is Tan actually has three different choices.
04:23We're going to have her start with the hero gear to begin with.
04:26Yeah.
04:27So you have recommendations, too.
04:28You can see it says try this.
04:29So again, we're going to do this mostly because I love Smallfry,
04:32and I want to show you Smallfry very badly.
04:34And you can see other information on the screen like on the top right.
04:37It shows you how many tries you have.
04:39So we have just three.
04:40That should be fine.
04:42I'm new to Splatoon, but I should be able to handle it.
04:45I've got Smallfry.
04:46Speaking of which, too, like I said before, this is a great entry point as well.
04:50Story mode in particular.
04:51So this is perfect for you.
04:52Yeah.
04:53So if I didn't want to jump into multiplayer right away, I can do story mode first,
04:57and it's a great place to practice.
04:59Or just play with Smallfry.
05:00I also like that.
05:01So I'm showing off here what you can do with it.
05:04You can throw it.
05:06Don't feel bad.
05:07It can handle itself.
05:09And then you can call it back with the.
05:14And here you want to kind of, like it says, navigate to the rotating area.
05:18Oh, look at that perfect throw.
05:20Nice.
05:21You sound so surprised, and I'm a little offended.
05:25Not at all.
05:26Look at this trick.

05:28Wait.

05:31Wait.
05:32That was a trick that I learned just for you guys.
05:35I didn't even know that.
05:36That's actually really cool.
05:37That's the pacifist approach.
05:38The pacifists just allow themselves to destroy themselves.
05:41So you saw that I threw Smallfry in the beginning.
05:43I'm going to throw it again, but for a different purpose this time,
05:47because this is an armored enemy, and I'm scared of it,
05:50and it can definitely splat me.
05:52So I'm using Smallfry to distract it,
05:54and then I turn around and splat it from behind.
05:56Also, like a rat, I just let stuff fall off the edges.
06:00Get splatted and distracted.
06:02That's how I play, I guess.
06:04One thing to note, too, is that Taryn is swimming in her own ink.
06:07If there's enemy ink, which is purple, it's not too good for you.

06:13We're going to pretend that didn't happen.

06:19My name is Kay, and I'm here with Andrew and Amber,
06:22and we're going to be taking a look at Harvestella.
06:25Andrew, what have we got for people today?
06:27Today we're going to be taking a look at Chapter 2 of Harvestella,
06:30coming to Nintendo Switch as a Nintendo Switch console exclusive on November 4th.
06:34Before we jump into Chapter 2, we're actually going to show a quick video
06:37highlighting some of the story elements from Chapter 1 to get us on our way.
06:41Let's take a look at that.
06:44Here we see our main character is waking up.
06:46We actually find out that they have amnesia.
06:48I'm not sure where they are.
06:50They're welcomed by one of the residents of the town.
06:52It kind of explains the situation to them.
06:54And then we're introduced to a sea light for the first time.
06:57And all of a sudden, the people in the town are gathering because,
07:00oh, no, a giant crystal element is falling towards the earth.
07:03Oh, no. It's pretty dangerous.
07:05Oh, and it crashed. Oh, boy.
07:07But what do we do when there's a crashed crystal?
07:09We investigate it. Of course.
07:11And then while we're investigating it,
07:13we actually find someone that we bring back to our home,
07:16a mysterious person, and, you know,
07:19start talking about where they could be from.
07:22And then eventually, they run off.
07:28Which leads us to the person who greeted us with our amnesia
07:32are actually showing us the importance of harvesting and farming
07:35and how that actually plays into the story,
07:37which we'll talk a little bit more as we're going through Chapter 2.
07:40It's very kind of them to give you a farm
07:42so you could have some goals to work toward
07:44and remember who you are. Right? Yeah.
07:48So then we're introduced to the canyon,
07:50which is just north of our home, and we meet Dianthus.
07:55After speaking with Dianthus, we find out
07:57that we actually have kind of similar goals,
07:59and they join our party.
08:01So we'll be able to play alongside Dianthus in Chapter 2.
08:07Great. That brings us up to speed. Yeah.
08:10We're going to actually jump into some gameplay.
08:13Yeah, and I'm here. I just started in my house.
08:16I just woke up, and I'm about to go farm some crops
08:20that I planted the previous day.
08:24So let's go check those out and see how they're doing.
08:27Oh, your farm is so cute, Amber.
08:29Thank you so much.
08:30So I planted some of these dress lettuce,
08:32and it looks like they're ready to harvest,
08:34so I'm going to pick all of these.
08:37Let's go. Yeah.
08:39Oh, yummy. There we go.
08:40And then I also have some carob seeds,
08:42so I'm going to plant some more seeds, too,
08:45so they're going to be ready for the next day.
08:47It's rusty.
08:48Once I harvest all of these crops and...
08:52Not harvest. Sorry.
08:53Once I've planted all these, I'm going to water them.
08:55Oh, my gosh.
08:56Oh, my gosh.
08:57Can we take a look at this, though?
08:59Look at how cute this watering wand is.
09:01Oh, it's so cute and very convenient.
09:05Very fast.
09:06Very fast, too.
09:08Yeah, yeah, yeah.
09:09Very efficient.
09:10I'm loving it.
09:11I also love the name of the crops.
09:13We had carobs.
09:14I had some carobs, yep,
09:16and I have some stellar wheat seeds over here, as well.
09:19All these crops take a little bit of different time.
09:22I believe my carobs will only take one day,
09:24so I should be able to pick them tomorrow
09:27and put them in this chest here or my shipping box,
09:31and at the end of the day,
09:33I'll actually make money from the things I put in this chest.
09:37Great perks of farming,
09:38but it's also important to note that, obviously,
09:41making money off of your crops is important
09:43because it allows you to purchase things in the shops and stores,
09:47but you can also use some of the vegetables
09:50that you harvest and the fruit to cook.
09:53Exactly, exactly,
09:54and so what I'm going to do right now
09:56is I'm going to go back up to the canyon up here
09:58and go explore a little bit more with Deanthus,
10:02try to find my friend,
10:04but I can also go and defeat monsters to get seeds,
10:07so this is going to help me more with my farming,
10:10making sure that I'm still making lots of money, too,
10:13so I can live this fantastic farming lifestyle that I need.
10:17Yeah, so as Amber said,
10:18our main goal right now is to go deep into the canyon
10:20and find our friend who we're looking for with Deanthus,
10:23but as you'll see on the screen,
10:24time is a very important part of this game,
10:26and so when you start in the morning, it's about 6 a.m.,
10:28and every day you have your main goals to go forward to,
10:31but it's a really good idea
10:32to start by harvesting your crops, planting things,
10:34so that at the end of the day you can go back and see it
10:36and then continue to level up and get money
10:40as you progress through the game.
10:42Yeah, it's running into some baddies already.
10:45Whatever.
10:46Whatever his name.
10:47It's all the time.
10:48It's important to keep an eye, too,
10:50on your health and stamina,
10:52which you can see in the bottom left side of the screen.
10:55The little yellow bar on the bottom is your stamina bar,
10:58and as you perform actions like farming and attacking
11:02or even running, that uses up some of your stamina.
11:06Next to that, also, you have your little stomach meter,
11:09and we mentioned earlier cooking.
11:11You can make meals for yourself to restore health and stamina
11:15and to fill up that stomach meter,
11:17and as long as you have food in your stomach,
11:19your stamina will regenerate automatically.
11:22And as Amber continues through this area,
11:24we're seeing that the map on the top right
11:26actually finds the new areas,
11:28so everything starts off as black,
11:30and then as you explore, you see more and more.
11:32Hey, guys, I found this really beautiful waterfall,
11:35and it's pretty refreshing.
11:36I think we should take a break.
11:37Sure.
11:38We've already been adventuring.
11:39We farmed a lot this morning.
11:40Let's take a little bit of a break.
11:42Live your best life.
11:43I know, right?
11:45Oh, and my health and stamina have been replenished.
11:47That's great, but it did take some time.
11:49It did take some time,
11:50but I think it's smart to make sure
11:52that we're taking a break every now and then.
11:55All right.
11:56I'm going to go up this hill area up here.
11:59Can we just appreciate how pretty this place is, too?
12:03It's gorgeous, but I also found a broken ladder up here.
12:08Can you fix that?
12:10Let's go try to find something to fix it.
12:12Not from down here.
12:13Not from down there.
12:15I want to.
12:16I want to get up there.
12:19There was also another broken ladder over here
12:22that I found previously when I found Dianthus
12:24and so I'm hoping to find that one as well
12:27so we can repair it.
12:29Maybe have some fun shortcuts throughout this canyon.
12:33Oh, here we go.
12:36Can we talk about Dianthus for a second?
12:38I love the hair.
12:39Her hair is so long.
12:41And the shoes.
12:42The shoes, though.
12:43Yeah.
12:44She's just fabulous.
12:45Very fabulous.
12:46So we found this broken ladder.
12:50Dianthus is actually going to help me repair this ladder.
12:54So when you are repairing things,
12:57it's actually going to also take time outside of your day
13:02to repair any of these things.
13:05So making sure that you have enough time to repair them
13:09but also get back to your house is really important.
13:11So let's see.
13:13Repairing this ladder is going to take an hour.
13:15It's early.
13:16It's still early.
13:17We still have time.
13:18You do have to keep an eye on the clock, though,
13:20because if you're out too late and you run out of stamina,
13:23you'll actually...
13:25Is that it?
13:26There's nothing else?

13:28Just Harvestella and Platoon.
13:29Okay.
13:30So that's all I had.
13:31All right.
13:32Well, I guess that gave us a good sample of both those games.
13:35Ones we're both going to pick up when they come out.
13:38Hopefully we'll find time to stream them.
13:42But we didn't know what was all in Nintendo.
13:46We knew there was a little bit of Splatoon, a little bit of Harvestella.
13:51So we're going to go ahead and move on from here.
