Marcos: PH needs to 'do more' in sea row with China
President Ferdinand Marcos Jr. says China's recent aggression in Ayungin Shoal was not an armed attack but a deliberate and illegal act to block a resupply mission to Filipino troops marooned at the BRP Sierra Madre. The President said the Philippines has to 'do more' than the usual protest.

00:00Na patawag niyo na po ba si Ambassador Juan Silvian, regarding puliin sa akin? A unique incident, sir?
00:09Well, we have called him many, many times.
00:14Well, the DFA will have to decide to formalize a discussion with the ambassador, but we are actually constantly in touch with him.
00:26I think we have already made our position very clear. We have made our objections to some of the actions that were undertaken by the maritime forces of the PLA.
00:41Also, our objection that we have also made it very clear, not only to the ambassador, but also to Beijing.
00:51So, it will really depend on how formal we want to make this complaint.
01:00But, you know, we have, how many? We have over a hundred protests. We have already made a similar number of remarks.
01:11So, we have to do more than just that. Kasi mapatawag natin ang ambassador, sasabihin natin itong posisyon namin, hindi namin gusto itong nangyari, and that's it.
01:24But we have to do more than that. So, we are doing more than just that.
01:28Sir, just a quick follow-up. Do you think, sir, it was an armed attack?
01:31It was, eh?
01:33Was it an armed attack, sir?
01:35It's not armed.
01:40But, it was a deliberate, it was a deliberate action to stop our people.
01:48But in the process of that, kinuhanan tayo, they boarded a Philippine vessel and took the equipment from the Philippine vessel.
02:00So, although there were no arms involved, nonetheless, it is still a deliberate action and it is essentially an illegal action that was taken by the Chinese forces.
02:50Thank you for watching!
