Blackpool North Hustings: Heated confrontation breaks out between candidates

A heated confrontation broke out between two political candidates at the Blackpool North and Fleetwood hustings tonight.

00:00So I don't know what it is about Tory MPs when they come to the Fylde coast, but we've

00:06got Mark Menzies in Fylde, whose private life is incompatible with his public life. We've

00:11got Scott Benton, who's a cash questions guy for the gambling industry and anyone else

00:17who cares to pay him. And even Paul, bless him, has had his own little scandal with over

00:22£1,000 for printing, which is not a matter of public record. As your MP, I will make

00:31sure that I put this constituency first and I will not have my hands in the till like

00:35your average Tory MP in this area.

00:45Thank you. I'll keep it brief. At least part of the year, a member of my local association

00:49made a complaint about me because I wasn't falling out within the association. For long

00:54now, the mud was thrown my way across the front page of the Sunday Times and everything

00:57else. So a six-month investigation took place in Parliament by the Compliance Officer.

01:02They went through everything they could possibly go through and they determined that we shouldn't

01:07be paying £4.50 a month more for one particular item of equipment. They had an agreement with

01:13the Parliamentary authorities over how we paid for different aspects of our office and

01:17they looked down and said we should be paying £4.50 a month more for that, which I was

01:22perfectly happy to pay. There was no criticism of me. The report stated that I, quote, reasonably

01:28believed, unquote, that the agreement we had with it was a copy of this item of equipment.

01:33The Compliance Officer determined otherwise and I was quite happy to pay.

01:36I think that's a long time, thank you. £1,200 and he's printing stuff for elections for

01:45this Conservative Party. I'm sorry, let's have things nice and easy. He's just given

01:50you an advice. He's given me a story. He's given me a story. It's not actually. It's

01:55a story. That's not what I'm talking about. He's giving you the truth. The truth according
