00:00I would like to take this opportunity in front of all of you
00:03to thank the people who became the backbone
00:08for us to be able to build
00:10first and foremost,
00:13the one and only cancer center owned and operated by the city,
00:18by a city government.
00:20So, first of all, I would like to thank our very kind,
00:24very hardworking, very good
00:27speaker of the people,
00:29House Speaker Ferdinand Martin G. Romualdez.
00:33Boss, to be honest,
00:36you didn't hesitate when I approached you.
00:39You just told me, yes.
00:41So here it is, it's been built.
00:44Thank you very much.
00:46And may District 5 love you for the rest of your lives.
00:51Thank you very much.
00:55To our beloved Mayor,
00:58Hani La Cuna Pangal.
01:01Boss, thank you very much
01:04for passing by 2,000 square meters of prime property.
01:09I just want to tell you
01:11that the land that our beloved Mayor gave us
01:16is the most expensive area in our district.
01:20That's my Ross Boulevard Corner.
01:23So thank you very much.
01:25And we are so blessed to have Speaker Romualdez today
01:30for the ceremonial groundbreaking
01:33for the building of our cancer specialty center
01:38for the City of Manila
01:40that will serve as a one-stop shop
01:43for those suffering from cancer.
01:46Thank you, Mr. Speaker,
01:49for extending your concern,
01:51your love, and generosity
01:54to our cancer-stricken constituents
01:57in the country's capital.
01:59We all know that cancer
02:03is one of the main causes of death.
02:08According to the data,
02:10there are 189 out of every 100,000 Filipinos
02:15who have cancer.
02:17And there are 96 cancer patients
02:20who die every day.
02:23But the most difficult thing
02:26is the lack of public facilities
02:30that focus on the treatment and care
02:33of patients with cancer.
02:36It was also mentioned
02:38that the cost of cancer treatment
02:41ranges from P120,000
02:44to a million pesos or more.
02:47Obviously, such a large expense
02:50is beyond the reach of ordinary people.
02:53On our People's Day,
02:56which we hold almost every Sunday,
02:59the number of patients with cancer
03:03that I serve is the highest.
03:07Likewise,
03:09the number of patients
03:11with cancer that I visit
03:14under my door-to-door doctorate program
03:18is higher than the number
03:21of patients with cancer
03:24that I don't even know
03:27that I am a doctor in real life.
03:30And all of them are striving
03:33for the opportunity
03:35to be treated
03:37at the two National Government Hospitals
03:40that I serve in Manila,
03:43Mocerelles and PGH,
03:46where patients from different parts of the country
03:49gather together.
03:52That is why it is a great thing
03:55that we now have
03:58our own Cancer Specialty Center
04:01in Luzon, Manila.
04:04We were also informed
04:07by our beloved speaker
04:09that you have a heart
04:11for patients with cancer.
04:14This is especially experienced
04:16by your beloved father,
04:19the former ambassador
04:21and former late Governor
04:23Benjamin Cocoy Romualdez.
04:25That is why we are now
04:27reaching out
04:29our heartfelt thanks
04:32to you for funding
04:34to build
04:36the Cancer Center
04:38here in the compound
04:40of the Hospital of Manila
04:42Medical Center.
