00:00Pranam Acharyaji. I want to ask question regarding suffering of the students. Tomorrow I was
00:11about to give my NEET PG exam at 9 a.m. but today one hour back at 10 p.m. NMC announced
00:19that exam is postponed and no new date is yet announced. Reason may be ongoing NEET
00:26PG scam. So my question is why always the students are to suffer? This is very harsh
00:35for us. I am thankful to Acharyaji that I don't both panic so much but still we are
00:43suffering so I want some... I don't know what to do next. Yes, you must not suffer.
00:55See first of all it's not as if life is specifically targeting you or the student community.
01:06There's an entrance exam
01:07and that implies there are places worth gaining entrance to. So the nation has raised a lot of
01:22good institutions for you students. That does not mean that the society or the country wants
01:35its students to suffer. India has some of the best medical institutions in Asia. We need many
01:49many more of them but still we can be proud of the ones that we already have. So there are things
01:57that you can feel satisfied about and proud of. It's just that what is already available to us
02:09is taken for granted and things that don't go our way they disturb us. That's natural
02:21prakritic human tendency. Right? Now what to do in this situation? You had an important exam the
02:28next day and then suddenly you have probably been told that the exam has been postponed.
02:36It's been postponed. See that's the way of life.
02:43If I were to talk to the authorities I would question them. I would ask them why are you
02:50putting these youngsters through needless trouble? But since right now I'm not talking to them
02:58so no point just blaming them. Obviously the system has failed and that failure is showing
03:11up in all the turbulence that's been going on. It's been I suppose three weeks now or something.
03:20Fourth year. Just a little less than three weeks. Fourth of this month your results were announced
03:27and that's when the whole cycle of agitation and outrage began.
03:42So obviously the the system has to be questioned
03:46and were I in front of those who run the system I would probably question them quite harshly
03:55but they're not here. Right? And maybe I'll find another way to make my voice reach to them
04:05something. For the purpose of the discussion between you and me the system then becomes irrelevant.
04:14Why? Because as you will move through life you will find that all kinds of systems keep doing
04:22all kinds of mischievous things. Today this system has done its bit. Tomorrow some other
04:32system, some institution or some random event can come and play spoilsport.
04:39Will you keep allowing them to disturb you?
04:44Obviously they are not entitled to disturb you. Obviously they must be taken to task.
04:51You have a testing agency and we do not have testing agency in a nation of 150 crore people
04:59so that it disturbs lakhs and crores of participants and their families and the entire
05:05society. Right? So first of all you have to be assured that we do not want the responsible ones
05:15to go scot-free. They must be taken to task. They must be held accountable and the system
05:22must be improved to ensure that such things never again happen in the future.
05:26But I'll still tell you these things will again happen if not in this way. If not in this way
05:35then in some other way. Life will never move according to your plans and expectations.
05:43Today this system has failed. Tomorrow some other system will fail
05:47and that's not just something specific to India. That's happening even in the
05:55that's happening even in the most developed and advanced nations.
06:00That's the very nature of life. Unpredictability.
06:06So what will you do when all these bad things again happen to you?
06:10Will you allow them to get to you? Own you? Rule your mind? Make you go mad? Will you allow them?
06:20So that's what we have to learn. Even if we make the best of systems, still they will go awry.
06:32Though that does not mean that we should not try to improve our systems and such things. I'm
06:36repeating that for the fourth time probably. We should try to improve whatever we can.
06:43But in spite of all the improvement things will go wrong at times.
06:50So internally we have to develop ourselves in a way that when things do not go our way
06:57we still remain steadfast.
07:02Nothing on the outside should be allowed to become so powerful that it starts ruling our insides.
07:14Are you getting it?
07:15Life can be ruthless.
07:22Life is ruthlessly impartial. It cares for nobody. Because to life you know you and I don't exist.
07:32To life only the totality of life exists.
07:36Are you getting it? You and I are nobodies.
07:43If something wrong happens to you, something wrong happens to me,
07:47life, existence, prakriti, they're not going to remorse over it.
07:55What matters to life is just the totality of everything and the totality of everything remains
08:02totality of everything and the totality of everything remains the same.
08:09So life never loses out on anything.
08:13It's just that something today is manifest tomorrow it becomes unmanifest but the total
08:17of manifest plus unmanifest means the same. Life doesn't lose out on anything. The manifested
08:24part declines. So the manifested crowd might start wailing, oh no we made a loss.
08:34But when it comes to life, life says one form has just changed into another form.
08:41The totality has remained the same. So life never bothers for individuals.
08:47Life is utterly ruthless and it can do really bad things.
08:56But we are not supposed to let things go bad for us. Are we?
09:05No we are. So what will we do? We'll make ourself life proof.
09:10Let life do whatever it wants to do. I'll still remain joyful within.
09:20I'm not talking of some utopian ideal state that is unattainable.
09:25Obviously if things go bad, we feel bad, we get tense, we also get angry, we get sad.
09:32These things happen obviously. But a point of joy, a point of happiness,
09:40should remain within utterly untouched.
09:45Tension should not percolate beyond a limit.
09:52Your essential peace has to be safeguarded. Things went my way, fine, I got excited, I celebrated.
10:01But even the celebration should not reach your core. The core should remain untouched by all
10:09happening, good or bad, positive or negative. Something great happened, yes I got happy,
10:17I danced around, fine, it stops at that. Something really bad happened, I cried for a while,
10:26then I went to sleep.
10:27I allowed myself to hear some melancholy songs, I remained tense and sad for what,
10:38eight hours or two days or something, and then I bounced back, I recovered, I recouped.
10:44That's the maximum I can allow life to disturb me. Eight hours, two days, something. This much
10:51allowance has to be given, you know. We are not supermen and superwomen. If bad things happen,
11:00we must allow ourself to feel a little down. That's all right, that's a part of your humanness.
11:06If something great happens tomorrow, if you top this entrance exam,
11:11it's all right to jump around and hug people and, you know, do a few silly things and maybe party
11:17for a week or something, but then settle down. One week is enough.
11:23Return to your essential peace, where nothing ever happens, nothing good, nothing bad.
11:31Are you getting it? Don't let the world become a huge thing, otherwise the world will eat you up.
11:42The world comes to you with goodies, with offers, with all the beautiful and tempting things possible.
11:54Feel good, but don't get carried away. And the world comes to you with tragedies
12:02and all the bad things. Cry, wail, remain upset for a while, but don't allow yourself to break down.
12:15Do not let happiness carry you away and do not let
12:22sadness break you down.
12:30Participate in the world,
12:35the happiness, the sorrow, the laughter, the marries, the arrivals, the departures,
12:42but do not get possessed by the world.
12:48Maintain a separate identity, an identity that is unavailable to the world. Do not share the password.
13:00The world is a separate identity.
13:03An identity that is unavailable to the world. Do not share the password.
13:11The world should not be allowed to log into your heart.
13:16The heart must remain inaccessible to the world.
13:21The heart is a very special place. The point that I was talking of,
13:25the point that must remain untouched always, the heart is called that point.
13:30The heart is a very special, a very sacred place.
13:34All these profanities, somebody leaked the paper, somebody was
13:42charging some money and black money was changing hands and some government official was involved
13:49and all these are like stupid things and they'll keep happening all your life.
13:55Good things also happen.
13:59Neither good nor bad should become too big on you.
14:06It's all right. Dance around for a while and then say, fine, it's all right.
14:13Or beat your chest for a while and then just say, fine, it's all right.
14:18At some point you should be able to simplify your life.
14:22At some point you should be able to simply say, it's all right.
14:26Enough of disgust or enough of celebration. It's all right.
14:38I haven't said anything of any value, right? This won't help you with your marks but
14:45that's the maximum I can offer.
