2nd Canadian Scientist Says, an Investigation Into a Mysterious Brain Illness , Was Shut Down.
The latest senior federal scientist to step forward claims this unknown illness may have impacted 350 people
in New Brunswick, 'The Guardian' reports.
In 2021, health officials in the province said
that 40 people were found to be suffering
from an unknown neurological condition.
One year later, a special committee determined
that the patients had been misdiagnosed and
were actually suffering from other illnesses.
A leaked email by Professor Samuel Weiss, a neuroscientist
with the Canadian federal agency that funds medical research,
suggests the government curtailed further investigation. .
In short order, the scientific
effort was shut down at the
request of the [federal and
provincial] governments, Professor Samuel Weiss, scientific director of the Institute of Neuroscience, Mental Health and Addiction, via 'The Guardian'.

Weiss is the scientific director of the Institute of

He's also a member of the Canadian Medical Hall of Fame
for his neurogenesis research which has pioneered new
treatments for a number of degenerative brain diseases.
Earlier this month, another prominent federal scientist,
Michael Coulthart, also alleged that he had been barred
from further investigation into the unexplained illness
