00:00Can you introduce yourself, what's your name, where are you from?
00:14Yeah, my name is Davey O'Hearn, I'm a producer with Canada, based in Barcelona.
00:19And what are you here for?
00:20I'm here for the Skipping Like a Stone best concept music video.
00:25Nice.
00:26Was it your concept?
00:27At what point were you on?
00:29So basically, it's actually the director, Pensacola, he's one of our directors that
00:34we work with all the time in Canada, and the production company Canada, and yeah, no, it's
00:40his concept.
00:41He got the music video brief, he came up with the idea based on the track.
00:45The song is called Skipping Like a Stone, so he had the idea of like a guy skimming
00:51a stone, but then the stone kind of becoming an entity or a personality, and then like
00:57solving crime essentially.
00:59Is that how he pitched it to you?
01:01That's exactly how he pitched it, yeah, and it's like, yeah, and they were like, yeah,
01:04we love it.
01:05Yeah, yeah.
01:06So we had like a little bit, I don't think there was any real back and forth or anything
01:09really.
01:10It was like the idea was pretty solid, everybody loved it.
01:12So it was just how to make it a reality, because it is quite a crazy concept.
01:29How did it become a reality?
01:31So yeah, so basically they came up with the idea, Pau from Pensacola was working with
01:36a lot, and then there's another team of Callum and like other producers in Canada, and we
01:42were working with Pau from Pensacola, and like he had his idea, his vision, and then
01:48we just tried to figure out how we could do it, where we could do it.
01:53So like obviously budget was always a constraint with music videos, so it was like looking
01:58for a good partner in Europe that is cheaper, and like we found a great partnership with
02:05like Radioactive 24-7 in Lithuania, actually.
02:10So we shot it in Lithuania, and yeah, it was amazing, and like they had like the best crew,
02:16the best everything, really helpful, put everything into it, and like yeah, it was a really, really
02:22good production.
02:23Were you able to be on set?
02:25Me personally, I was actually not able to, I was involved in all the pre-production and
02:28a lot of the posts, but like diaries clashed for the actual shoot, so I was really gutted,
02:34because like it was such a cool video and a cool concept that I really wanted to be
02:38involved all the way through, but unfortunately I missed out the actual shoot.
02:41Yeah, yeah.
02:42The fun stuff.
02:43Yeah, I missed the fun stuff.
02:44Yeah.
02:45But you're here, taking your win.
02:46I'm here, I'm stepping in now in the important bit.
02:49How does it feel to win?
02:50Today's been great, yeah, yeah, it's been really good vibes, everybody's super nice,
02:55seeing some excellent work, and yeah, just really happy to be awarded with this one,
03:00it's a really special one, yeah.
03:09Have you had a favorite from the works you've seen so far?
03:11I was watching a couple of Vikkawas, I really liked the Danny Brown that was in the same
03:16category as us.
03:17The animated one?
03:18Yeah, yeah, that was really, really cool, and yeah, I'm just looking forward to seeing
03:21some more as well.
03:22Yeah, nice.
03:23Can you maybe describe the event to people who haven't been, so they don't know what
03:26to expect?
03:27Yeah, so the event, for me, it's quite personal, low-key, like very good vibes, it's not a
03:35huge event, which is really nice actually, because sometimes you've got to get lost in
03:39these bigger events, the Music Awards, especially, like the UK Music Awards are amazing, but
03:44they're bigger, so you get less of a chance to meet people and chat to people, so I've
03:49just been walking around talking to everybody, so really good atmosphere, really good vibes,
03:53so yeah, happy to be here.
03:55Can you maybe describe the energy of the event in like three words?
03:58Positive energy, bubbling, and happy.
04:13Any advice you would give to young people who are trying to get into production?
04:17Yeah, sure, I think just do it, it's just like, it doesn't matter what level you're
04:22at, the more work you do, the more you will advance, the more people you'll meet, the
04:28more contacts you'll make, and like, try and build a gang or a crew that you stick with,
04:34and like, always work together, like if you can find your crew, stick with them, and then
04:38just develop together, I think that's the best advice, you know, and then like, budget
04:43doesn't matter when you're starting, just like, just make stuff.
04:46Well, thank you very much.
04:48Alright, cheers.
