Tourism sector employed 6.21-M Filipinos last year;

BOI reports P2.32-T green lane-certified investments;

BIR to allow use of remaining official receipts until fully consumed

00:15The tourism industry recorded 6.21 million employment for Filipinos in 2023,
00:21an increase nearing its 6.3 million target employment in tourism for 2028.
00:26Particularly, employment in industries related to tourism increased by 6.4 percent
00:31from 5.84 million in 2022 to 6.21 million in 2023.
00:36Meanwhile, it also posted its highest growth based on the report
00:39with an 8.6 percent share of the country's gross domestic product or GDP.
00:44Furthermore, tourism secretary Cristina Garcia-Frasco said that new initiatives as well
00:49as the continuing yet innovative approaches done by the DOT are effective not only in terms of
00:55enticing tourists by promotion, but more importantly,
00:59making the overall tourism experience worthy of an investment.
01:03The Board of Investments' One Stop Action Center for Strategic Investments has issued
01:08Greenlane certificates to 74 projects with total capital amounting to around 2.321 trillion pesos.
01:1565 projects are in the renewable energy sector with investments worth 1.95 trillion pesos,
01:22while five projects with Greenlane certification are in digital infrastructure
01:26with investments of 338.23 billion pesos.
01:30Moreover, the OSAC-SI certified two projects each in food security and manufacturing sectors
01:36with investments amounting to 3.40 billion pesos and 29.61 billion pesos, respectively.
01:44The Bureau of Internal Revenue, or BIR, Commissioner Romeo Lumagi Jr. has ordered
01:48the Bureau to allow the use of the remaining official receipts until they are fully consumed
01:53instead of only until December 31, 2024.
01:56He also allowed the submission of inventory reports and notice through email.
02:01After the passing of the Ease of Paying Taxes Act into law,
02:05the BIR said it has been working towards harmonizing the different regulations,
02:09systems and processes under its mandate with the EOPT.
