A heat wave, along with thunderstorms, has the northeastern U.S. firmly within its grasp through the end of this week.
Transcript
00:00Meanwhile here to the northeast boy, we've got a lot of heat to contend with and a couple of storms out there as well
00:05Some of these coming toward a Springfield of Massachusetts as I speak
00:08These have had a history of producing us some wind damage
00:10In fact a quite a few reports are coming out again of again down trees and power lines
00:16Again, this was right around six o'clock this off to the west of Worcester
00:19And we'll take you out right now to a Saranac Lake and a beautiful view here this evening
00:24Wow, look at that, but it's a warm view here to temperatures into the the mid the upper 80s and that's warm
00:29Again for this time of the year around the Saranac Lake we were warm than this a couple of hours ago
00:33But a beautiful view nonetheless not a cool night though in a Saranac Lake as temperatures are surrounding the area dropping down into the
00:4170s in fact
00:42I don't even spot a 60 degree mark here on the map
00:45They only a spot would be down into a central, West Virginia as we head our way into Thursday
00:50we're gonna be climbing back up in the 90s and that'll put us anywhere from a
00:5410 to even 12 to 18 degrees above the historical average depending on where you are and
01:00We'll be looking at to some a daily record high temperatures being challenged one of those in a Concord, New Hampshire
01:05Look at that 99 degrees the same in Hartford and both of those will be records
01:10Dating back again into the 1950s in the case of a Concord now there will be some cooling thunderstorms here
01:16We'd like to see relief
01:18We could use a little bit of rain
01:19But not at the cost of a damaging winds or hail or flooding downpours
01:23And we'll have to watch out for those as well at least in parts of the area
01:26As we go throughout the afternoon and the evening and then we turn the clock ahead here into Friday notice again to the north
01:32We're starting to cool things off now Burlington back into the 70s Boston down to the 80s, but look at New York City
01:38Central Park 89 today
01:40But so we're going to be chasing after those 90s here as we work our way down the road a little bit further
01:44And then we'll start to see the storm sag a little further off toward the south here on to Friday
01:49More wind that can be damaging as well as hail and flooding downpour is going to be a possibility
01:54So another day to be weather aware and have that AccuWeather app handy
01:58not only for again the severe thunderstorm warnings that could crop and pop up and
02:03Have the push notifications on for the warnings the incident warning is issued
02:08You'll be notified
02:09But also for the AccuWeather real field temperatures that in tandem here Friday afternoon for some will be north of 100 degrees
02:17Temperatures themselves on back into the mid 90s here as we head our way into the start of the weekend from West, Virginia
02:22into Pennsylvania and into Ohio
