00:00We all enjoy the sandy beaches along our coast,
00:03but that sand is also a tricky problem for us currently in our rock pools.
00:07As Taraji locals would know, their rock pool has been affected
00:11over the past 12 months by high levels of sand.
00:14During this time, councillors cleaned out the rock pool four times
00:18to remove the sand, and the sand has returned.
00:21Our rock pool crew want to bring larger machinery onto the beach
00:25and try different locations to place the sand
00:28so that we can increase the time between our cleans.
00:31We now have a new environmental approval in place to complete these works.
00:35Environmental approvals are site-specific actions
00:38so that we can make sure that we're looking after the environment
00:41to reduce the impact to the water quality, our waterways,
00:45plants and animals, and cultural and historic heritage.
00:48We are planning to clean the rock pool once we have the right combination
00:52of low tides, seas and swells, and we have the right machinery available.
00:57We understand our city's rock pools have a special place in our community's heart,
01:01and that's why we're trying to get here and do the works as soon as we can.
