00:00Claire Throssell's sons Jack and Paul aged 12 and 9 were murdered in a house fire caused
00:08by their father after he lured them into an attic following a series of domestic abuse.
00:15Now Claire organises a charitable fun run every year to remember her boys along with
00:21their friends.
00:22It's a bit of mixed weather this morning but that's not affecting the mood here, what's
00:27today's plan for Jack and Paul's meet this year?
00:32It means everything, when we're at the centre of the community created a circle of love
00:40and that circle is still going down, I mean everybody's turning up to remember the boys
00:46as they lived not as they died and that is so important, especially this year, the 10th
00:54anniversary and to see Jack and Paul's friends come through and to see everybody that comes
01:04with me together to remember them is just incredible, it's a bittersweet but it's incredible.
01:13You also are quite close now to reaching 100,000 signatures on your petition to get
01:20a debate in Parliament about the change of custody laws to make them more vigorous and
01:25more in favour of what the children want, that must mean a great deal to you to be so
01:31near.
01:32It does because this is what we've fought for, we've had to fight 8 years to get to
01:38this point, I never thought it would take this long and it shouldn't have had to take
01:44this long when it comes to children, look around and we're surrounded by children,
01:50I want to give them a better future, I want to give not just my community, we've got the
01:56whole country, future generations, a childhood that they will grow up safe, protected and
02:04loved.
02:05We took up the petition for the first time at 42,000 signatures but the government didn't
02:11do what they promised and I promised my boys I'd do more and not one Lord at the moment
02:20can say that they're doing enough to keep every child going through the court system
02:25safe, so I'm going to do what I can to change these laws and make sure that all children
02:33are safe.
02:34Well well done Clare, we'll watch this space because I think we're getting very near to
02:38that, we're also getting very near to starting this race, so let's go and do it and I hope
02:44you can enjoy the day, thank you Clare.
02:47Thank you.
