00:00We were just chatting with your friend Brian Darcy James, how exciting was it to, you know,
00:06have that interaction and be able to see your friends tonight?
00:09That is the best part about this night.
00:11I used to, this is shameless name dropping, but the most fun for me for the past like
00:16three times that I've done this is, this is the only time I'd run into my friend Sam Jackson
00:20and we did a movie together like 18 years ago, but he said to me a couple years ago,
00:24he goes, you know the only time I ever see you is the Tonys, so he's sort of my representative,
00:28although I don't, I didn't see him here tonight, but there are plenty of other friends that
00:31I, that I, you know, we never get to see and when you're doing theater, you're on that
00:34schedule so you really never get to see anybody, but obviously somebody, seeing somebody like
00:38Brian who's been nominated, I don't know, four or five times, he's got to be, he's won
00:42a ton, just one of the best guys on Broadway too, I, I, forever, forever, known him for
00:4825 years, that's what makes it special.
00:52These are, you got lifelong friends here that, that, that we've known and you come up together
00:56and now we find ourselves in our 50s, still being here, it's exciting.
01:01And you're obviously such a Broadway veteran, is there any play or revival that you would
01:07be itching to do next?
01:08Yeah, there's a lot, I'm trying to find a bunch, yeah, I don't know if I want to do
01:13a play, I really want to do an original musical, so I'm looking at that, looking at a few of
01:18those, I workshopped one of those for a long time, it's going to run in London, maybe it'll
01:21come here and maybe we can talk about that, that's on the back burner, but then there's
01:27other stuff that I'm trying to, you know, yes, the answer is yes.
01:32Looking forward to that and finally I, I wanted to ask, I know you made your directorial debut
01:36with Insidious, what was that experience like and what did you learn as a director that
01:42you've taken with you as an actor now moving forward?
01:44Sure, well there's an understanding of just the process, especially making a film, but
01:48I actually think, and I've been in producing, I'm producing a show that hopefully will be
01:52on Broadway next year, a musical adaptation of The Lost Boys, and I think being on the
01:57other side as a director, producer, and understanding just how it all works and how it just takes
02:02an absolute village, I mean, luckily I was never one of those actors that was very me,
02:06me, me, I'm the most important person in the room, like some actors are, so that was never
02:11my thing anyway, but certainly it gives you an understanding of the process, and certainly
02:15in film where you can shoot your stuff out in one day and then the director's living
02:18with it for another year, trying to make it work.
