00:00A world away from Gaza, Canberra musicians came together for a purpose.
00:07It's the only way to express the horror and the love.
00:11Really, it's the only way I can truly communicate how it makes me feel.
00:16If anyone wants to hear it, thanks.
00:19Not a protest, but an opportunity to fundraise for a charity
00:22which supports Australian doctors working in Gaza.
00:25$7,000 was raised before the event even began.
00:29It's meant to be a way for a community to gather and to raise some money
00:33and to feel a little bit less powerless.
00:35It seemed like a good way to bring people together
00:37and raise a bit of money for the cause
00:39and feel like we're doing something rather than nothing.
00:42The gig for Gaza was organised by two Jewish mates
00:45who say they couldn't sit quietly and do nothing.
00:48Standing up for Palestine, holding events like this,
00:51going to protests, is all quite holy work.
00:55It's holy acts for me.
00:56It's not just as a Jewish person, but as a person.
00:58It's really hard to watch the immense loss of civilian life
01:03and horrific famine and awful conditions people are being actively put under
01:08over there and not feel like you want to do something.
01:11The event was a sell-out, with Canberrans keen to hear a diverse range of musicians perform.
01:16My dad's Jewish, so I've got kind of a close connection to the Jewish community
01:22and so it feels particularly important for me to show my support for Palestine at the moment.
01:27Sending practical support and keeping hopes high at home.
