00:00There has to be space in the relationship, otherwise it's like we're the same person."
00:06Welcome to Ms. Mojo, and today we're counting down our picks for the overlooked rom-coms
00:11we think deserve more kudos.
00:12Besides, you don't have to show off for Jamie, just be yourself.
00:20Number 30. Wedding Season
00:22Enter the world of Indian weddings with this thoughtful and funny Netflix movie.
00:26Asha's a high-flyer who wants to make a difference in the world, and hasn't got
00:30time for romance.
00:31Do you both understand that I may not want a husband or a partner in my life?"
00:40Ravi wants to follow his passions and get his parents off his back.
00:43Together, they hatch a plan to see out wedding season as each other's pretend date.
00:48As rom-coms go, it's pretty standard fare, but we love to see some South Asian representation,
01:04and the leads have great chemistry.
01:06Check it out for a feel-good, fake dating tale about family expectations and finding
01:10true love where you least expect it.
01:13Number 29. Roxanne
01:18Edmond Rostand's play Cyrano de Bergerac has had its share of adaptations, including
01:27musical versions and loose modern updates such as The Ugly Truth and Sierra Burgess
01:32is a Loser.
01:33However, Roxanne still holds a special place in our hearts.
01:37Here, the story has been transferred to the 1980s, but as in the original play, the Cyrano
01:42character is cursed with an unnaturally large nose.
01:45Steve Martin plays C.D., who agrees to help his friend win the heart of Daryl Hannah's
01:49Roxanne.
01:50Although you could easily be put off by the cartoonish appearance of Martin's lead character,
01:55the central romance is sweet and the movie has a lot of charm.
01:59I love your nose, Charlie.
02:02I love you, Charlie.
02:04Number 28. The Sure Thing
02:07This little-known teen comedy was an early outing for When Harry Met Sally director Rob
02:11Reiner.
02:11It also stars a young John Cusack in the lead role.
02:15The film follows two college students who find themselves crossing the country together
02:18over Christmas break.
02:19It's Gibb.
02:20And Gibb, this is Allison.
02:22I know I should have taken the bus.
02:24What, and wind up sitting next to some sleazebag?
02:27Some sleazebag you don't know?
02:29Cusack's Walter is traveling to meet a blind date in California, a girl who his best friend
02:33assures him is a sure thing.
02:35Daphne Zuniga's Allison is a fellow student from Walter's English class, going to visit
02:40her boyfriend.
02:41In short, it's an enemies-to-lovers road movie.
02:44Think It Happened One Night meets The 80s.
02:46It's a little bit dated in places, but it's got heart and the leads have real charisma,
02:51especially Cusack in what many consider his breakout role.
02:54A rose for the lady?
02:56The lady care for a rose?
02:58The lady care to advance the gentleman the cost of the rose?
03:02Put it on the bill.
03:04Be great.
03:05Number 27. Return to Me
03:07When his wife dies in a car accident, Bob Ruland believes he will never love again.
03:12But then he meets the woman who was given a second chance at life when she received
03:15a transplant of his late wife's heart.
03:17Do we know each other?
03:20Uh, I think so.
03:23You've been in here before?
03:24Unaware of the cosmic connection between them, the pair begin to fall for each other.
03:29Okay, so it might be a terrible idea for a rom-com.
03:32But if you can get past the questionable premise, you could find a lot to like.
03:36Old-fashioned romance, gentle comedy, and likable leads make Return to Me an unexpected winner.
03:42It's sweet, uncynical, and a real feel-good watch.
03:53Number 26. The Matchmaker
03:55However corny and however fake the accents, we love a good rom-com set in Ireland.
04:00Oh, come on. We're not all patties.
04:02You're right. I'm sorry, I was very insensitive of me.
04:05What is your name?
04:06Sean's my name.
04:07For fans of Leap Year or Irish Wish, The Matchmaker is definitely worth a watch.
04:12Marcy Tizard is an assistant sent to the Emerald Isle to track down the long-lost
04:16relatives of a Boston politician in order to win Irish-American votes.
04:20But of course this being a rom-com,
04:22she arrives slap-bang in the middle of a fictional town's famed matchmaking festival.
04:27Here she is now. Isn't she lovely?
04:29And I'm sure we all wish her the best of luck in finding a husband.
04:32Hooray!
04:34Cue boorish bachelors, sexy barmen, and old men in flap caps.
04:38It's a lot of fun, the music is great,
04:41and lead actress Janine Garofalo makes an engaging heroine.
04:44Number 25. Deliver Us From Eva
04:47Eva, I'm not afraid of you.
04:50And I want to go on record as saying I totally respect your mind and your spirit.
04:56What about my body?
04:57It's beautiful.
04:58Back in 1999, the writers of 10 Things I Hate About You
05:01found success with their updated version of Shakespeare's The Taming of the Shrew.
05:05Four years on, Deliver Us From Eva arguably takes the same play,
05:09and one of the same actors, and gives us a different spin.
05:12Gabrielle Union stars as Eva Dandridge, the eldest of four sisters,
05:16dubbed as bossy and difficult by her siblings' partners.
05:19To get the interfering sister out of the picture,
05:22the men set Eva up with a master player.
05:24It's fairly predictable, but Union and LL Cool J make a great pair.
05:29Oh, sweet thing, don't you know you're my everything?
05:37It's also fun to see a different reworking of the famous play.
05:40Number 24. Fever Pitch
05:42Fever Pitch began as a memoir by the English writer Nick Hornby,
05:46exploring his lifetime obsession with English football
05:48and the way it impacted his relationships.
05:50It was then adapted into a British rom-com,
05:53starring Colin Firth as the football-mad protagonist.
05:56I thought it was only a game.
05:57Don't say that!
05:58Please!
05:59That is the worst, most stupid thing anyone could say.
06:03But it quite clearly isn't only a game.
06:06The original is worth checking out,
06:08but our favorite is The American Reimagining,
06:10starring Jimmy Fallon and Drew Barrymore.
06:12Fallon plays Ben Reitman, a schoolteacher and lifelong Boston Red Sox fan.
06:17He falls for Barrymore's Lindsay Meeks,
06:19who questions the shelf life of the relationship
06:21when she realizes she will always be competing with his beloved baseball team.
06:26We're two games out of first with three weeks left.
06:28Seattle's coming in this weekend.
06:30I mean, this is when they need me.
06:33They need you.
06:34It's a likable and feel-good story.
06:37Fallon makes a charming lead,
06:38and he and Barrymore have a sweet, genuine chemistry.
06:41Number 23. The Truth About Cats and Dogs
06:44The familiar tale of Cyrano strikes again
06:47in this enjoyable 90s comedy starring Janine Garofalo and Uma Thurman.
06:51Garofalo plays Abby, a self-conscious vet and radio host
06:54who convinces her neighbor to pretend to be her
06:56in an attempt to win over a guy she likes.
06:59If we're honest, the plot makes very little sense.
07:02What?
07:03Nothing, sorry, it's just you sound completely different on the air.
07:06Oh! You should hear me in the shower.
07:10In the wrong hands, it just wouldn't work.
07:13However, the strong central cast bring credibility and charm to their characters,
07:17and the script has just enough wit to carry us through to the end.
07:20The Truth About Cats and Dogs is an obscure rom-com
07:23that rarely makes the lists,
07:24but it's engaging and fun just the same.
07:27I heard on the air today she was brilliant.
07:30Brilliant?
07:31Yes!
07:31Oh, that's a bit much, don't you think?
07:33Are we getting jealous?
07:35No, trust me, that's not even possible.
07:37Number 22. Music and Lyrics
07:40Drew Barrymore and Hugh Grant make a surprisingly winning duo
07:43in this enjoyable music fable.
07:45Figuring out you and me is like doing a love autopsy.
07:53The story follows Alex Fletcher, an 80s pop sensation turned has-been.
07:57His career now relies solely on nostalgia bookings,
08:00but he's offered the chance to restart it by writing a song for a star.
08:04Barrymore plays Sophie, a woman who comes to water his plants and ends up as his lyricist.
08:09It's a sweet film, and although it's lighthearted, it doesn't feel like fluff.
08:13There's a great supporting cast, some genuine laughs,
08:16and a few instantly iconic songs.
08:26Just prepare for them to get stuck in your head.
08:28Number 21. French Kiss
08:39Meg Ryan was the queen of rom-coms for a while,
08:42but not all of her movies have entered the zeitgeist quite like
08:44When Harry Met Sally and You've Got Mail.
08:46In French Kiss, Ryan acts opposite Kevin Kline,
08:49who adopts a questionable French accent to play our leading man.
08:53Ryan's Kate is headed to Paris to win back her wayward fiancé
08:56when she meets Luke on the plane.
08:58Did you ever think that maybe it is not the airplane?
09:01What's not the airplane?
09:04That maybe it is something else you are afraid of.
09:06The chemistry crackles, but unfortunately,
09:08he's a petty criminal who's hidden a diamond necklace in her luggage.
09:12When the jewelry is stolen, the real chaos begins.
09:15In essence, French Kiss is a fun romp full of both stereotypes and gorgeous scenery,
09:20but the leads have the star power to carry it off.
09:23Number 20. What If, also known as The F Word
09:33Known as both The F Word and What If depending on the country of release,
09:37this rom-com gave us Daniel Radcliffe in one of his first post-Potter roles.
09:42Radcliffe plays Wallace, a guy who drops out of med school
09:45after finding out his girlfriend is cheating on him.
09:48He befriends Chantry, who is dating someone else at the time,
09:52but the boundaries of their relationship become more and more blurry as the story goes on.
09:56It's a great portrayal of the modern dating scene
09:59that will inevitably feel relatable to most viewers.
10:03I don't want it to be over.
10:10I don't want it to be over either.
10:12Number 19. Obvious Child
10:15Does having an abortion hurt?
10:17No, except for some cramps afterwards, but they feel just like period cramps.
10:21You wouldn't think that an unintended pregnancy and subsequent abortion
10:25would be the fodder for a romantic comedy,
10:27but somehow Obvious Child manages to make it work.
10:31This nice shirt's name is Max.
10:32Oh, hey, this lady's name is Donna.
10:35Donna is a stand-up comedian who gets dumped by her boyfriend
10:38and ends up having a one-night stand with a stranger and getting pregnant.
10:42As she awaits her scheduled abortion,
10:44she starts to form a bond with the man responsible for her pregnancy,
10:47despite the fact that she's trying to keep him at arm's length.
10:50We won't tell you how this one ends,
10:52but it's a sweet, if very unconventional love story
10:56that we can see becoming considered a classic.
10:59Hey.
10:59Hi.
11:01Uh, these are for you.
11:03That's so nice.
11:05Number 18. Celeste and Jesse Forever
11:08It's not normal, okay?
11:10You guys have been separated for six months.
11:14You're getting divorced, all right?
11:16And you spend every day together, hanging out, as if like it's no big deal.
11:20Most romantic comedies show us the beginnings of relationships,
11:24but this one kicks off as a marriage is coming to a close.
11:28Celeste and Jesse got married when they were young,
11:30but as the years have gone by, their differences have become more and more pronounced,
11:34with her being more ambitious and him being something of a slacker.
11:38The chemistry between the two characters, though,
11:40makes it obvious that there's still something special there.
11:43And I'm really sorry to bug you, but I just, I really need you to sign those papers.
11:49Uh-huh.
11:51Okay, Jesse, well, I've been busy with work,
11:55because some of us work for a living,
11:57so I'm sorry I haven't had time to focus on helping you get on with your new life.
12:01They try to stay close friends,
12:03which, of course, presents a whole new set of challenges.
12:06This story is a poignant one that will definitely ring true to anyone
12:10who has ended a relationship with someone they still love.
12:13I did it.
12:14Number 17. The Big Sick
12:17Hey.
12:20What are you doing here?
12:22Jesse called me and wanted me to make sure you were okay.
12:27This charming movie was an award-season darling,
12:29despite the fact that it wasn't a particularly high-grossing film at the time.
12:33Based on the true story of its writers,
12:36the film follows Kumail, a Pakistani-American Uber driver who falls for a white girl
12:40despite his parents wanting to set him up with someone with the same background as him.
12:45He starts dating Emily anyway,
12:47but the two break up when she finds out that he's not sure how long it can last.
12:51I can't be the reason that you don't have a family.
12:57It just feels totally different now, and I can't do that again.
13:03Things really ramp up, though, when a health crisis finds Emily in a coma
13:07and Kumail bonding with her family as she recovers.
13:11Number 16. Letters to Juliet
13:14I'm sorry, I didn't know true love had an expiration date.
13:17Inspired by the trend of visitors to Verona leaving Letters to Juliet Capulet,
13:21William Shakespeare's famed fictional romantic heroine,
13:24this movie features a lush Italian setting and a sweet and memorable love story.
13:29Amanda Seyfried plays Sophie, a woman on her pre-honeymoon in Italy
13:33who becomes enamored with those letters that people write to Juliet.
13:36She tracks down one of the letter writers to help her find her lost love,
13:40and in the process unexpectedly finds a new romance of her own.
13:44This movie may not have been a financial success,
13:47but despite the poor box office showing, it's definitely worth a watch.
13:52I don't know what a love like Juliet's feels like.
13:56A love to leave loved ones for.
13:58A love to cross oceans for.
14:00But I'd like to believe, if I ever were to feel it,
14:05that I'd have the courage to seize it.
14:08Number 15. Kate and Leopold
14:10I jumped off the Brooklyn Bridge and took a walk in 1876 today.
14:17I followed my great-great-grandpa around old New York.
14:22We love a good time travel love story, and Kate and Leopold definitely fits the bill.
14:28Physicist Stuart Besser mistakenly brings one of his ancestors,
14:32His Grace Leopold Alexis Elijah Walker Thomas Gareth Mountbatten,
14:373rd Duke of Albany, from the 19th century to modern-day New York.
14:41Sparks fly, however, when Leopold meets Stuart's ex,
14:44the hard-driving, high-achieving Kate.
14:47I don't know the story of Prince Charles and Lady Di.
14:50Oh, you don't want to. It's a cautionary tale, further proof.
14:54Of what?
14:54You can't live a fairy tale.
14:56Of course, because of their different backgrounds,
14:58there are some cultural differences to overcome.
15:02Sure, the plot isn't the most logical,
15:04but we can suspend our disbelief when it comes to enjoying this time-hopping romance.
15:08This is madness. This is madness. Who was that?
15:12Number 14. Chasing Liberty
15:14I am 18 years old, and I want to go out on a date without a posse of guys in bad suits.
15:19Sorry, Harper, hiding behind every tree. Nothing is private.
15:22There are some worlds that we all want to see inside of,
15:25and Chasing Liberty capitalized on that concept.
15:28Mandy Moore plays Anna Foster,
15:30the teenage daughter of the President of the United States.
15:33She's stifled by all of the restrictions put on her,
15:36and the security team constantly trailing her,
15:39so she runs off with a stranger who she just meets.
15:42It turns out, however, that Ben is actually part of her father's security team,
15:47but leads her to believe that he's just a regular guy.
15:50I thought I was alone because I never had any opportunities,
15:53because I never had any privacy.
15:54But thank you, thank you so much for proving me wrong. I needed that.
15:57Anna, believe me, this is not about you.
15:59Conflict inevitably ensues,
16:01but this romp around Europe is tons of fun.
16:05So if you're scared, why do it?
16:08Because the things you're scared of are usually the most worthwhile.
16:11Number 13.
16:13Lars and the Real Girl.
16:14Where did you meet this person?
16:17On the internet.
16:18A film revolving around a young man who develops a relationship with a sex doll
16:22sounds like your typical teenage sex comedy.
16:25Except this film doesn't go that route.
16:28Instead, what could have been a one-joke movie
16:30is actually a sincere look at the struggles of a character dealing with social anxiety.
16:35Those are nice, huh?
16:36They're not real, so they last forever, isn't that neat?
16:39Ryan Gosling is superb as the titular Lars,
16:42cementing his place as one of the best young actors in Hollywood.
16:46Although the film actually lost money,
16:48it was a critical success
16:50and was even nominated for an Academy Award for Best Original Screenplay.
16:54Hey, what are you doing on Friday night?
16:58Um, I have a school board meeting.
17:04Bianca got elected, so...
17:06Number 12.
17:07Think Like a Man.
17:09Just don't want a relationship based on lies.
17:11That's called marriage.
17:12Movies with a large cast and multiple interweaving storylines
17:15tend to be pretty by the numbers in regards to the romantic comedy genre.
17:19And it's true, Think Like a Man doesn't reinvent the wheel.
17:23Based on a book by Steve Harvey,
17:25the film revolves around four different women and their relationships.
17:29What makes this film stand out, however,
17:31is its terrific cast and the performances they give.
17:34I want to be your husband.
17:37And I want you to be my wife.
17:38Critics particularly praise the performances of Megan Good and Kevin Hart,
17:42and the acting alone makes this film worth the watch.
17:45What do you call the three rings of marriage?
17:47No clue.
17:48The engagement ring, the wedding ring, and the suffering.
17:51Number 11.
17:52The Holiday.
17:53I'm very normal.
17:56Neat freak.
17:57Healthy.
17:58Non-smoker.
18:02Single.
18:05Hate my horrible life.
18:07This, well, holiday movie has indeed become a modern classic to some,
18:11though it still seems to fly under the radar.
18:14Cameron Diaz and Kate Winslet play two women
18:17who are each at a crossroads in their lives
18:19and decide to switch houses for the holiday season,
18:22with one going to sunny Los Angeles
18:24and the other heading to the picturesque English countryside.
18:27I think you should get dressed.
18:29We should take a drive, get some lunch, and get to know each other.
18:34Really? Why?
18:36Because I'm running out of reasons why we shouldn't.
18:38They both manage to find new love along the way,
18:41and shed some of the things that had been holding them back in their previous lives.
18:46This, this, this twisted toxic thing between us is finally finished.
18:53Definitely put this one on your to-watch list this Christmas.
18:57Number 10.
18:58Leap Year.
18:59They're earrings.
19:01Yeah.
19:03For my ears.
19:04The concept that men have to be the ones to propose to women is clearly now old-fashioned.
19:10In Leap Year, Amy Adams' character decides to take the opportunity
19:13to propose to her boyfriend on Leap Day,
19:16which is supposedly the day on which women can propose to men without them refusing.
19:21You know nothing about me or Jeremy.
19:26You know what you are?
19:27You're a cynic.
19:28You're a lonely, bitter cynic.
19:30Better that than an idiot.
19:31Leap Year, Deadly Eye.
19:32Will you marry me, Deadly Eye?
19:33I've got a suitcase called Louis, Deadly Eye.
19:36She gets waylaid on the way to meet him in Ireland, however,
19:39and ends up realizing that what she thought she wanted wasn't quite right.
19:43She kicks off a whole new romance with an Irish innkeeper,
19:47and then has to decide between the two men in her life.
19:50Kiss the girl.
19:59Number 9.
20:00Love Rosie.
20:01First, you have to be cool.
20:03Ignore her.
20:03Act like you could take it or leave it.
20:05I see that often.
20:05I practice that.
20:07Second, you have to make her feel like you've seen something in her
20:10no one else has, like, her soul.
20:13Based on Cecilia Ahern's book Where Rainbows End,
20:17the movie Love Rosie gives us a charming love story between two childhood friends.
20:21Alex and Rosie have known each other for ages,
20:24but on Rosie's 18th birthday, they kiss,
20:27which inevitably changes their dynamic for good.
20:30Because of a lack of communication, they end up drifting apart,
20:33with each of them facing other relationships and challenges in their lives.
20:47This is a love story that focuses on what happens when you fall for your best friend,
20:51and has to be ultimately one of the most romantic picks on our list.
20:56Number 8.
20:57Friends with kids.
21:00We just don't want to subject that kid to our tragic marriage.
21:04Similar to our last entry,
21:06on-screen chemistry is what makes this film better than your standard rom-com.
21:10Director Jennifer Westphelt stars as the female lead alongside Adam Scott,
21:14both of whom are terrific.
21:17Add in the sex-obsessed Jon Hamm and Kristen Wiig,
21:20and the placid Maya Rudolph and Chris O'Dowd,
21:22and you get three clever, unique relationships all on screen at the same time.
21:27I will be 100% committed to this half the time, maybe even more.
21:32Plus, while our two main characters try to figure out their feelings for each other,
21:36we also get to watch their adorable child grow up.
21:38Oh, look at this.
21:40That was you.
21:41Number 7.
21:42Just Like Heaven.
21:44You're not dead, you're alive.
21:45I know, David, but I'm in a coma.
21:47This is not good.
21:48Well, it's way better than dead.
21:50Okay, granted, a girl in a coma storyline sounds like the plot of a bad daytime soap,
21:55but this film moves past the cliché and does a great job looking at two characters
21:59that are desperately seeking a connection.
22:01Mark Ruffalo stars as David Abbott,
22:04a grieving widower who has recently moved into a new apartment.
22:07The apartment is also inhabited by the spirit of its former owner,
22:11Reese Witherspoon's Elizabeth, who is currently in the hospital in a coma.
22:15This is more serious than I thought.
22:16Go away, you don't exist.
22:18Together, they work to overcome the difficulties they have both faced in their lives.
22:22Critics praised the strong character development and clever dialogue,
22:26making for a heavenly combination.
22:30Rest in peace.
22:32I'm not leaving.
22:35Number 6.
22:36Definitely Maybe.
22:38Um, I feel horrible about taking the...
22:45Before he was the foul-mouthed Deadpool,
22:48Ryan Reynolds appeared in many romantic comedies,
22:51some better than others.
22:52One of his best is this film,
22:54which revolves around Reynolds telling the history of his dating life to his young daughter,
22:59as both she and the audience attempt to guess the true identity of her mother.
23:03Well, I think I discovered who my mom is in the story.
23:07Really?
23:08Really.
23:10Well, who is it?
23:12Not telling.
23:12The film didn't quite draw the crowds, however,
23:15ranking just fifth at the box office on its opening weekend,
23:18but it was a critical success,
23:20with reviewers complimenting the original plotline and charismatic lead characters.
23:26It was cowardly, and I'm sorry.
23:28Oh, okay.
23:35Number 5.
23:36About Time.
23:37It's gonna be a complicated year.
23:38It's gonna be a complicated life.
23:40While we almost went with the 2012 time-traveling hit Safety Not Guaranteed,
23:45it's About Time that earns the spot on our list.
23:47This film follows the charming Donal Gleeson as Tim,
23:50who learns that he has the ability to travel through time.
23:54Initially, things go well as he's able to go back in time and get the girl of his dreams,
23:59played by the stunning Rachel McAdams.
24:01But he quickly learns that this gift may be more of a curse as he grows older.
24:05You have to use it for things that you really think
24:08will make your life the way you want it to be.
24:09Come on.
24:10Although there are some plot inconsistencies regarding the rules of time-traveling,
24:14the film's sincere and sentimental storyline is sure to hit home with any viewer.
24:19My mom's called Mary?
24:20I look like her mother?
24:23No, you're much prettier.
24:26Number 4.
24:27Just Friends.
24:28God, I wanna lick your skin off.
24:30I prefer you didn't.
24:31We go back, once again, to Ryan Reynolds and get to see him like never before.
24:37Typically, it's the geeky girl who transforms into the beautiful swan,
24:41but this time it's Reynolds, who returns to his hometown after spending a decade away.
24:46He decides to get revenge on those who treated him poorly in high school,
24:50but he rediscovers his feelings for his former high school crush.
24:54Oh my god, I can put my arms around you.
24:58Reynolds' character learns some valuable lessons in his pursuit,
25:01including what true beauty really is.
25:04Thanks for reminding me I was fat.
25:07Number 3.
25:08Serendipity.
25:09Serendipity.
25:10It's one of my favorite words.
25:11The term serendipity is when events happen by chance in an advantageous way,
25:16and that's what this film is about.
25:18Chance.
25:19Our two lovers meet each other at the film's beginning,
25:22but decide to leave the future of their relationship up to fate.
25:25Whoa, I'm sorry.
25:27Sorry.
25:28Jonathan, played by John Cusack, writes his name and phone number on a $5 bill,
25:32while Sarah, played by Kate Beckinsale, does the same inside the cover of a book,
25:37believing that if their relationship is meant to be,
25:40they will find these items one day.
25:42This film is perfect for those who believe in true love,
25:45and the idea that everything will work out the way it's meant to.
25:48Do you want to date?
25:49I don't care.
25:52All right, go ahead.
25:54Number 2.
25:55It's complicated.
25:56Knowing how to be divorced is next to impossible.
26:01Any film that stars Meryl Streep is worth a watch for her alone.
26:05Add in Steve Martin and Alec Baldwin,
26:07and you get a terrific cast that raises this film above others of the genre.
26:11Streep plays a single mother of three who begins a relationship with her former husband,
26:16while also coming to terms with her feelings for her architect.
26:19You don't think in the future you might want a his?
26:21Oh God, we're talking code about my life.
26:24While this film doesn't necessarily do anything new in regards to its plot or storyline,
26:29the acting is superb, and the film earned several Golden Globe nominations.
26:34Maybe we should be growing old together.
26:37Oh, I hate to tell you, big guy, we already grew old apart.

26:59Number 1.
27:00Ruby Sparks
27:01I'm not writing about you.
27:05I wrote you.
27:06If you could write yourself the perfect partner, what would they be like?
27:10That's exactly what happens to Calvin in this quirky and original film.
27:14A struggling author, Calvin begins writing about a girl named Ruby Sparks,
27:18only to discover that his creation has come to life.
27:21I missed you in bed last night.
27:23While the film could have been an over-the-top love fest,
27:26we get to see the darker side of a relationship in which one person has all the control,
27:31in this case, quite literally.
27:33You don't get to decide what I do.
27:36Wanna bet?
27:38The fact that the film looks at how easy it is to become insecure and controlling in a relationship,
27:43and does so while still remaining funny and heartwarming, is truly impressive.
27:48Just don't tell me how it ends, okay?
