00:00Well there's not yet an agreement but these parties need an agreement and there's a lot of actions
00:04but behind closed doors and little information are coming out. What we do know is that
00:10negotiations are extremely complicated. The talks have been paused, suspended, then they resumed.
00:17It seems they have resumed now. So what's the problem? Well it's very simple. Who gets what
00:23constituency? There are 577 constituencies in France and these parties are trying to
00:30come to an agreement regarding who which party stands where because they're trying to present
00:35one party for one candidate per constituency and it needs to be a united left-wing front in order
00:43to stand a chance of winning. What we are being told is that France En Barde which was the main
00:51left-wing party in the last presidential election, the last legislative election, they were the main
00:59party and they're trying to retain that leadership even though the socialists came first for the left
01:06in the last European ballot. So tensions, who's standing where and it's all about
01:12winnable constituencies because say you can give a hundred constituencies to the socialists but
01:18if only 20 are likely to be won by the socialists, well it doesn't make much sense for the socialists
01:24to agree on that. So a lot of tensions in the party headquarters behind me, the Green Party
01:31headquarters. Bear in mind this left-wing alliance is between the Green Party, the socialists, France
01:38En Barde. So a lot of talks here and they wanted to announce an agreement and hold a press conference
01:45later on today. We'll have to wait and see if that actually happens.
