00:01:56 Okay, let's go.
00:01:57 Hey, football guy.
00:01:58 Fatim A.W.M.
00:01:59 More than my tape.
00:02:20 Hey, more than my tape.
00:02:43 The crown is yours.
00:02:44 Today is Wednesday, June 12th.
00:02:47 I'm PFT.
00:02:48 This is why we should never take vacations.
00:02:51 I'm taking a three-day vacation with my family.
00:02:53 We taped the show earlier today.
00:02:56 And then I would say the biggest news that's ever happened in the history of this podcast
00:03:01 taking place happened.
00:03:03 And Joey Chestnut has been banned from the Nathan's Hot Dog eating competition on July
00:03:10 4th, and America is at its knees.
00:03:13 It's the end of a...
00:03:15 It feels like the late stages of an empire.
00:03:17 This is the sign.
00:03:18 When people say that on the news, I was like, "Ah, nah, we're fine.
00:03:22 America's still fine."
00:03:23 Today was the first day where I was like, "We might be in some trouble."
00:03:27 We used to be a country, a proper country, where men could gather around on the 4th of
00:03:32 July and eat 70 hot dogs and have the whole world rejoice.
00:03:36 It was a positive force for America.
00:03:38 I love the 4th of July.
00:03:39 I love the hot dog eating contest.
00:03:40 I haven't missed it going back to the Kobayashi years when it became an event.
00:03:44 And now Major League Eating, I don't know which side to take here.
00:03:47 Am I taking Joey's?
00:03:48 I want to take Joey's side because I like Joey Chestnut and he is a goddamn American
00:03:53 hero.
00:03:55 But Major League Eating is saying that he was doing a sponsorship deal with Impossible
00:03:58 Meats, which is a little weird to begin with for Joey to be doing that sponsorship, but
00:04:03 they're paying him.
00:04:04 I'm not going to judge him for taking the bag.
00:04:06 And there was a sponsorship that conflicted with the Nathan's Hot Dog eating.
00:04:10 Some people were saying he was going to try to eat vegan hot dogs.
00:04:13 I know Joey Chestnut pretty well.
00:04:15 That's crazy.
00:04:16 And I'm sure that Joey would not want any sort of competitive imbalance that would go
00:04:20 along with eating a vegan hot dog.
00:04:23 So I saw that rumor going around.
00:04:26 If Joey Chestnut tried to eat the vegan hot dogs on the 4th of July, I would 100% be on
00:04:31 the side of Major League Eating.
00:04:33 Don't ever let him eat another hot dog again in his life.
00:04:35 I don't think that ever was on the table.
00:04:37 I also, I don't know about Impossible Meats.
00:04:40 Are there bugs in the hot dogs?
00:04:42 I will not eat the bugs.
00:04:43 So I want to make sure that I have all my facts right before I take a stand here.
00:04:47 I will not eat the bugs.
00:04:48 I don't know if there's bugs.
00:04:50 I don't think that there's bugs in them.
00:04:52 My knowledge, it's just fake meat.
00:04:54 It's like soy.
00:04:56 I will not eat the bugs.
00:04:57 Here's the thing.
00:04:59 One Joey Chestnut not being there means that 4th of July is basically canceled.
00:05:04 Now, people who are arguing he should never do an Impossible Meats brand sponsorship,
00:05:12 I understand.
00:05:13 I felt a little betrayed as well.
00:05:15 But at the end of the day, Joey Chestnut is like at the top of the list of guys that I
00:05:20 root for to be really rich because he's a legend.
00:05:24 He's an American hero.
00:05:25 He's one of the greatest athletes I've ever seen in my entire life.
00:05:28 I thank my lucky stars that I was put on this earth at the same time as Joey Chestnut.
00:05:34 Joey Chestnut's not rich as far as I can tell because the dude is still going to Schenectady,
00:05:40 New York in the middle of May to down 100 oysters for five grand.
00:05:45 I'm pretty sure that he just needs the sponsorships he gets.
00:05:49 I'm hoping it's like a live situation where Joey Chestnut is just getting the bag from
00:05:54 Impossible Meats and I tip my cap to him because I'll never ever pocket watch or judge someone
00:06:00 who's going to get their money.
00:06:02 I'm just really sad overall.
00:06:05 Overall the whole situation has saddened me and shook me way more than I thought it would.
00:06:11 I was thinking about this from the moment it was announced because then I got on my
00:06:14 flight until we were able to talk about it here.
00:06:18 It's been just rattling my whole...
00:06:21 My wife was like, "What's wrong?"
00:06:22 I was just like, "I don't want to talk about it right now.
00:06:24 Joey Chestnut's not going to compete in the 4th of July."
00:06:26 I was that upset.
00:06:27 Yeah, I'm fine with Joey getting paid.
00:06:30 Get paid by any means necessary.
00:06:31 I can't imagine that the career span of a competitive eater goes into your 50s and 60s.
00:06:37 I feel like it's a young man's game.
00:06:40 Get the bag when you can.
00:06:41 He's also the best to ever do something that everybody that has ever lived does.
00:06:48 We've all eaten.
00:06:49 Every person here, everybody eats.
00:06:51 Joey Chestnut is the best person, the best eater of all time in the history of the world.
00:06:57 He needs to be rich for that fact.
00:07:00 Get the bag.
00:07:01 It's a live situation.
00:07:02 There are some similarities there like Kingdom of Saudi Arabia and PETA, Handshake, Don't
00:07:07 Eat Pork.
00:07:08 I get that, but I don't think that there's a competitive league that's forming that's
00:07:17 trying to draw players away.
00:07:18 I think if anything, and our friend TJ pointed this out, TJ Hitchens, he might be putting
00:07:25 us all over.
00:07:26 This might be a work.
00:07:27 Yeah.
00:07:28 I want to talk to Joey about it because Impossible Meats does some sort of co-branding with Nathan's.
00:07:35 There's already a business relationship there.
00:07:36 I don't know if this is him turning heel and then he's going to come back like stone cold.
00:07:41 I don't know what's going to happen, but I do know that my 4th of July is going to be
00:07:46 significantly worse.
00:07:47 I know people want to take, Hank, I'll get you in a sec.
00:07:50 I know people want to take stands and I understand that.
00:07:53 I get it because my initial reaction was like, how could they ban him?
00:07:56 Then when I realized it was Impossible Burgers and there could potentially be bugs at stake
00:08:01 here, that's not American.
00:08:04 Eating bug burgers, eating bug dogs on 4th of July is not American, which I'm upset that
00:08:09 Joey took that type of money.
00:08:11 But at the end of the day, I think this whole story just bummed me out more than anything.
00:08:16 It's like one of those ones where I'm just sad about how everything, why can't we get
00:08:20 to the table and figure out why can't America and Joey Chestnut shake hands on July 4th?
00:08:27 This is putting the world to pick a side between Joey Chestnut and the country we love.
00:08:34 It's impossible.
00:08:36 No pun intended.
00:08:37 Well, because Joey is a very unique creation of the country that we love.
00:08:42 Joey Chestnut would not exist in any other country, but because of the good old USA and
00:08:47 the stars and stripes, we have the best person to ever eat food that lives within our borders.
00:08:53 We all get to watch them and root for them on TV.
00:08:57 It's actually sad because this is an example of human greatness that we're all going to
00:09:02 miss out on the 4th of July because of some sort of business dispute.
00:09:06 We're the losers here.
00:09:08 I'm hoping we can get Joey on the show at some point in the next week or so.
00:09:13 I would love to maybe figure out a way to see how many Barstool employees Joey thinks
00:09:18 he could challenge on the 4th of July, which would be pretty fun.
00:09:24 Or Kobayashi, but Joey, what's the number of people you think that you could beat on
00:09:29 the 4th of July?
00:09:30 He just took on 15 of us.
00:09:32 Kobayashi did retire from eating.
00:09:34 He did.
00:09:35 But you can always, if we've learned anything, everyone's got a price.
00:09:43 We can cut it.
00:09:44 Big cat.
00:09:45 We were talking to them last year.
00:09:46 We had doing their return match.
00:09:48 I know, but Kobayashi retired since then.
00:09:51 Oh, we retired again.
00:09:53 I think he retired again.
00:09:54 We were talking about we're going to do a rough and rowdy Joey Chestnut Kobayashi mashup
00:10:01 where it would be like in between fight 10 and 11, they come out and eat a shitload of
00:10:06 dogs and then we go right back to fight.
00:10:08 It would have been incredible.
00:10:10 We discussed that with Joey when he was on the podcast.
00:10:13 Yeah.
00:10:14 No.
00:10:15 Then there was serious.
00:10:16 There was serious negotiations for months.
00:10:19 Then it went nowhere.
00:10:20 But it was like it was happening.
00:10:22 Yeah, I'm just sad.
00:10:24 I also I love whenever a story like this happens where, like, from the outside, people be like,
00:10:30 are you guys really leading the podcast with hot dog eating like losers?
00:10:34 No, we're not losers.
00:10:35 And I'll show you how serious this is in the press release for Major League Eating.
00:10:43 Major League Eating said in a statement for nearly two decades, we have worked under the
00:10:47 same basic hot dog exclusivity provisions.
00:10:51 I love that there were hot dog exclusivity provisions.
00:10:54 I didn't know that.
00:10:56 Yeah.
00:10:57 And then Joey issued a statement four hours ago.
00:11:00 Joey, Joey posted this online.
00:11:02 I was gutted to learn from the media that after 19 years, I'm banned from the Nathan's
00:11:07 July 4th hot dog eating contest.
00:11:08 I love competing that event.
00:11:10 I love celebrating America with my fans all over this great country on the fourth.
00:11:13 I've been training to defend my title.
00:11:15 First of all, kind of a rat move that he learned about this from the media.
00:11:19 He found out the same way we all found out.
00:11:22 He goes on.
00:11:23 He says to set the record straight.
00:11:24 I do not have a contract with MLE or Nathan's, and they're looking to change the rules from
00:11:28 past years as it relates to other partners I could work with.
00:11:32 This is apparently the basis on which I'm being banned, and it doesn't impact the July
00:11:35 4th event.
00:11:37 Sadly, this is the decision Nathan's and major league eating are making, and it will deprive
00:11:41 the great fans of the holidays, usual joy and entertainment to my fans.
00:11:45 I love you, and I appreciate you.
00:11:48 Rest assured that you'll see me eat again soon.
00:11:51 Stay hungry.
00:11:53 It's I feel like John Madden died all over again.
00:11:56 That's how I feel right now.
00:11:57 Yeah, it's a turducken of sadness.
00:12:00 I'm grieving.
00:12:01 I actually have had a I don't know what to say.
00:12:06 You can't have this.
00:12:07 You can't have 4th of July without Joey Chestnut.
00:12:09 So we'll try our best to figure out a way to get Joey Chestnut into the 4th of July,
00:12:14 whether it's through Nathan's or not.
00:12:15 But I don't know how we can't.
00:12:18 I guess this is like now I understand why countries go to war.
00:12:22 How can you not?
00:12:23 We're sitting back and being like, how can major league eating and Joey Chestnut not
00:12:27 sit down and figure this whole thing out?
00:12:29 Yeah, they should be.
00:12:30 Fuck the vegan dogs.
00:12:31 They should be.
00:12:32 So what is the core issue here?
00:12:34 Are they afraid that Joey is going to show up wearing an impossible hot dogs hat?
00:12:38 No, I think he just I think they said that it would be like if MJ was like, oh, now I'm
00:12:43 wearing Adidas.
00:12:44 But I don't know.
00:12:45 It's not.
00:12:46 He was going to compete in Nathan's.
00:12:47 He wasn't going to talk about impossible burgers.
00:12:49 He was just doing that on the outside, on the outside of the 4th of July, which I think
00:12:54 he should be allowed to do.
00:12:55 I think he should be allowed to get.
00:12:56 I wish he didn't do the bug dogs, but I think he should be allowed to get his money.
00:13:02 I think there's soy boys.
00:13:03 I don't think that there's any insects in those dogs.
00:13:05 OK, well, I'm not going to eat the bugs.
00:13:06 I just want that very clear.
00:13:08 How would you drink the bug?
00:13:09 I'll do the cicada shot.
00:13:11 What how rich do you think Joey Chestnut should be in your in your estimate?
00:13:15 Like for up to you, billionaire.
00:13:19 OK, I'm being honest.
00:13:21 Joey Chestnut.
00:13:22 What is Joey Chestnut?
00:13:24 What is Jeff Bezos do better than Joey Chestnut?
00:13:29 Not a lot.
00:13:30 What does Elon Musk do better than Joey Chestnut?
00:13:32 Like I want Joey Chestnut to be so rich that he can do whatever he wants.
00:13:37 And then every 4th of July, he just comes in in his helicopter, maybe even in like an
00:13:42 inspector gadget suit, just fucking swoops in, eats his 74 hot dogs, wows the crowd and
00:13:49 then swoops out and he just goes back to his awesome life.
00:13:52 That's what he deserves.
00:13:54 The amount that he trains is crazy, too.
00:13:56 Like he is he is literally an athlete.
00:13:58 He is as good at his sport as anybody has ever been at their sport.
00:14:02 He is.
00:14:03 Yeah, he's Jesse Owens.
00:14:04 Michael Jordan, Shohei Ohtani, secretary of mine is the steroids.
00:14:10 Secretariat's heart.
00:14:11 Yeah.
00:14:12 All rolled into one.
00:14:13 That's what Joey is.
00:14:14 How rich do you think he should be, Hank?
00:14:16 No, I was just curious, you brought that up a couple of times, but it's one event a year.
00:14:21 I don't know how like.
00:14:22 It's not one of the year, but it but it but that my point is like a year he should he
00:14:29 has one event a year.
00:14:30 He should be able to go get his money outside of that because the other the oyster eating
00:14:34 competition isn't paying.
00:14:36 He goes and eats like.
00:14:39 You know, you see him and he's he's in he's in Bakersfield, California, eating cake flavored
00:14:46 tampons for seven grand.
00:14:49 It's like the guy deserves more than that.
00:14:52 He deserves more.
00:14:53 Hank, by the way, I thought you had a flight tonight.
00:14:56 Why are you at home?
00:14:58 I did have a flight tonight, but I'm back in Chicago and I'm feeling it.
00:15:05 What happened?
00:15:06 Nice, nice drop there.
00:15:07 What happened?
00:15:08 I was going to save it for Firefest because it just, you know, they talk about golf like
00:15:13 don't compound mistakes.
00:15:15 You know, don't let one bad shot become two bad shots, et cetera, et cetera.
00:15:21 My real life version of that was at the end of my last trip, which was a couple of months
00:15:25 ago, my suitcase, I realized broke like when I put it down the handle and I couldn't pull
00:15:33 it up and I had to fucking like push my suitcase.
00:15:38 Like basically lean down and push it and roll it in the airport all the way to my car, which
00:15:43 was a brutal experience.
00:15:45 Wow.
00:15:46 Completely forgot about it.
00:15:48 And then today I packed up my suitcase.
00:15:51 I'm waiting for my elevator.
00:15:52 I go to pull up the handle.
00:15:53 It's broken.
00:15:54 And I started like jamming the suitcase, trying to open it.
00:15:59 I put my backpack down, really fucking got in there and started jamming it.
00:16:05 Finally opened it, get on the elevator, get in the Uber, sit in the Uber for like an hour
00:16:09 and 10 minutes because of traffic.
00:16:12 Get out, gives me my suitcase.
00:16:14 I walk inside.
00:16:15 I'm like, oh shit.
00:16:16 Realize I forgot my backpack.
00:16:17 Run out, like hope I can catch my Uber, catch them.
00:16:20 I'm like, yo, yo, yo, I left my backpack.
00:16:21 He's like, no, you didn't.
00:16:22 I was like, I just opened the back.
00:16:24 Not in there.
00:16:25 Not in the back.
00:16:26 Left it at my house and it had all this shit I needed.
00:16:29 Like I was debating whether or not I could just not have anything in my backpack, but
00:16:34 it had my laptop, my mic, a bunch of shirts I needed.
00:16:40 Like it had a bunch of stuff that I needed.
00:16:43 So then I had to- Marijuana.
00:16:45 Turner.
00:16:46 No, no, no marijuana.
00:16:47 Don't travel with marijuana.
00:16:48 Your gun.
00:16:49 My gun.
00:16:50 Your full tool set that you try to bring up.
00:16:54 It was more my laptop and mic.
00:16:56 Wait, this is so much worse than I thought.
00:16:59 You had your backpack on and you put it down?
00:17:04 Because my suitcase was broken.
00:17:06 You did walk down without your backpack?
00:17:10 Yeah, because I was doing it as my elevator was coming up.
00:17:14 So I finally opened it as my elevator got up and I just got right on.
00:17:19 And then it was an hour and a half to get back.
00:17:21 So I just went to Rosemont, Illinois, got my haircut and about some old woman did it
00:17:27 in like 10 minutes.
00:17:29 Ate a depressing Subway stuff.
00:17:31 Wait, so you did compound a mistake with a mistake?
00:17:33 Well, I was like, I'm not going to sit and travel.
00:17:35 I just sat and traveled for an hour and a half.
00:17:37 I don't want to sit and travel for two hours now.
00:17:38 I need to just like I need to go eat and I needed to get a haircut, which I was going
00:17:44 to do tomorrow, which then I obviously don't have time to do tomorrow.
00:17:46 So I was like, I need to get a haircut somewhere.
00:17:50 And I just found the closest place.
00:17:53 So yeah, I'm home and I missed golf ball.
00:17:56 Are you flying out tomorrow?
00:17:57 I'm flying out first thing in the morning.
00:17:59 Oh my God.
00:18:00 So you are.
00:18:01 Well, I know, Hank.
00:18:04 So you also had so that's bad news.
00:18:08 So you had bad news with Celtics, which I don't.
00:18:12 Should we have you read the injury?
00:18:14 And then do you want an apology for Max?
00:18:17 What do you want?
00:18:19 Max famously on Sunday night said, Oh, Chris stops is hurt again.
00:18:23 Let's go.
00:18:24 Context.
00:18:25 I spent that was over up there when I thought I had my backpack.
00:18:31 I'm thinking I'm just getting on the flight.
00:18:32 I'm like, we're cursed.
00:18:33 We're cursed.
00:18:34 We're cursed.
00:18:35 We're cursed.
00:18:36 Like, is there a chance we're cursed?
00:18:38 This is bad.
00:18:39 I've never spent.
00:18:40 There is nothing like being a sports fan and going across the various sports Twitter doctors
00:18:46 and kind of choosing the one that you like.
00:18:49 That sounds the best because there was conflicting reports all over the place with like, Oh,
00:18:54 this is bad.
00:18:55 He might never play again.
00:18:56 Oh, you know, they can tape it up and he can be fine.
00:19:00 I don't know what to believe.
00:19:01 He's listed as questionable for game three.
00:19:03 And it's like, I think Max curse us.
00:19:06 Wait.
00:19:07 Read the injury report, Hank.
00:19:09 You're trying to make me sound dumb.
00:19:12 No, I just want you to read the injury report.
00:19:15 And I want Max to apologize to you.
00:19:17 Max, are you getting a lot of this is chomps too.
00:19:19 So who knows?
00:19:22 Celtics Chris apps posing has suffered a torn medial retinaculum, allowing dislocation of
00:19:28 the posterior to Bialis tendon.
00:19:31 That's pretty good.
00:19:34 Yeah, I read this.
00:19:37 I don't know if he has a sprained ankle or he's never going to walk again.
00:19:41 All right.
00:19:42 So I got a report.
00:19:43 It's been like 12 people in the last 150 years to get this injury.
00:19:47 It's not good.
00:19:49 It's not good when the Twitter doctors are putting like parentheses very rare on the
00:19:53 injury report.
00:19:54 And when there's parts of the body that you didn't even know existed, not usually good.
00:19:58 Our friend Sam Decker said, I didn't even know you could tear the whatever.
00:20:03 Say it again, Hank.
00:20:04 Torn medial retinaculum.
00:20:05 Yeah.
00:20:06 He said, I didn't even know you could tear that retinaculum.
00:20:11 So I reached out directly to pro football doc because I wanted to get the report to
00:20:16 pass the news along to Max because Max really wanted to update on this.
00:20:20 He said, Porzingis, no bueno.
00:20:22 You can quote me on this is what he said.
00:20:24 No bueno out for finals.
00:20:27 Not exactly.
00:20:28 But the comparison is Curt Schilling.
00:20:31 That's a good that's good.
00:20:33 Curt Schilling won a World Series that year.
00:20:35 Yeah.
00:20:36 And he won the game.
00:20:37 I have a doctor.
00:20:38 Shout out Dr. Dan, who told me that the closest thing that he could find that is a little
00:20:47 more common was when Von Miller dislocated his peroneal tendons on the other side of
00:20:52 your ankle in training camp in 2020.
00:20:54 He missed the entire season, but that's how rare it is.
00:20:57 The rest of the game.
00:20:59 That's how rare it is that he was like the closest thing you could comp is someone in
00:21:03 football tearing the other side of their ankle, which is kind of similar, but not really similar
00:21:08 because no one ever has done this.
00:21:12 So what do you think, Hank?
00:21:13 I literally don't know what to think.
00:21:15 They already did the injury report for tomorrow.
00:21:17 The list is questionable.
00:21:18 My gut tells me he's not going to play tomorrow.
00:21:21 And then maybe depending what happens tomorrow, like I don't know.
00:21:26 It seems he said after game two that he would die on the floor.
00:21:34 And basically the only way he's not going to play is if the Celtics medical staff literally
00:21:41 refused to allow it.
00:21:42 I tried to get some Intel on if our medical staff are dogs or not.
00:21:50 How seriously do you take that Hippocratic oath?
00:21:53 Well, yeah, like are they dogs?
00:21:56 Are they just going to be like, Let's fucking go in a championship.
00:21:58 Are they going to just like the book says sit.
00:22:03 He looked like he couldn't move after he heard it.
00:22:07 I know we watched it and we're like, this looks weird.
00:22:11 He's not moving well, and it's such a rare injury.
00:22:14 I don't know if there's a book on this injury.
00:22:16 That's what I'm saying.
00:22:17 Like, it would be such a rare blackjack hand that there's no book on it, but he's walking
00:22:21 around fine.
00:22:22 We just have a brace on like tape exists.
00:22:26 They got shit for that.
00:22:27 Like it's scary.
00:22:29 I don't want to say that I want him to risk never being able to play again.
00:22:34 Good thing you didn't say that.
00:22:38 But he said he would die on the floor.
00:22:39 And if he wants to play, he should be allowed to make that decision as an adult.
00:22:43 I think you guys can win this series without him.
00:22:46 I do too.
00:22:47 But I don't like even I just don't.
00:22:50 I don't like it.
00:22:51 So we're doing this.
00:22:52 You guys have won 76% of your games without Porzingis.
00:22:56 You've won 86%.
00:22:57 No other way around.
00:22:59 You think right?
00:23:01 Yeah.
00:23:02 No.
00:23:03 With Porzingis 76, 76% of their games with Chris Topps Porzingis, they've won 86% of
00:23:09 their games without Porzingis.
00:23:11 Is that true?
00:23:12 Yeah.
00:23:13 You're looking at the stat.
00:23:15 I'm looking at the set.
00:23:16 That's the regular season and the playoffs this year.
00:23:19 So there you go.
00:23:20 I'm fine.
00:23:22 And Curt Schilling.
00:23:23 And Curt Schilling.
00:23:25 I think you're fine.
00:23:26 Max, how's it going online for you?
00:23:30 Because you wish this into existence.
00:23:33 I did not wish this into existence.
00:23:34 You celebrated it.
00:23:36 I did not celebrate the injury.
00:23:40 I celebrated the circumstance of the situation.
00:23:43 Why did you go run up a fucking tree like a cat?
00:23:47 Are you okay?
00:23:50 I don't like this.
00:23:51 I'm scared.
00:23:52 I was hiding and I got up here and it's scary.
00:23:53 Do you need some help?
00:23:54 No, I can do it.
00:23:55 I like having this behind me.
00:23:56 Where are you hiding from?
00:23:57 I don't know.
00:23:58 Are you okay?
00:23:59 I need to come down.
00:24:00 No, no, sit there.
00:24:01 Go, go, PFT.
00:24:02 You're not going to get up?
00:24:03 No.
00:24:04 We're going to play a game.
00:24:05 I'm not going to get up.
00:24:06 I'm not going to get up.
00:24:07 I'm not going to get up.
00:24:08 I'm not going to get up.
00:24:09 I'm not going to get up.
00:24:10 I'm not going to get up.
00:24:11 I'm not going to get up.
00:24:12 I'm not going to get up.
00:24:13 I'm not going to get up.
00:24:14 I'm not going to get up.
00:24:15 I'm not going to get up.
00:24:16 I'm not going to get up.
00:24:17 I'm not going to get up.
00:24:18 I'm not going to get up.
00:24:19 I'm not going to get up.
00:24:20 I'm not going to get up.
00:24:21 I'm not going to get up.
00:24:22 I'm not going to get up.
00:24:23 I'm not going to get up.
00:24:24 I'm not going to get up.
00:24:25 I'm not going to get up.
00:24:26 I'm not going to get up.
00:24:27 I'm not going to get up.
00:24:28 I'm not going to get up.
00:24:29 I'm not going to get up.
00:24:30 I'm not going to get up.
00:24:31 I'm not going to get up.
00:24:32 I'm not going to get up.
00:24:33 I'm not going to get up.
00:24:34 I'm not going to get up.
00:24:35 I'm not going to get up.
00:24:37 That's why I tried to climb up on the roof is because I was afraid.
00:24:42 I climbed.
00:24:43 I climbed up the ladder and then I realized midway crying because it was too high.
00:24:48 I was I'm scared of ladders.
00:24:50 Okay, you wait.
00:24:51 You that's where you went.
00:24:52 We what did you say?
00:24:54 You're you're the you celebrated this.
00:24:56 What was that quote circumstance?
00:24:59 Not the injury the circumstance of this situation.
00:25:03 The circumstance of me forgetting to update the hurt or injured board and it became irrelevant again when it was when it would have been irrelevant.
00:25:11 Got it.
00:25:12 Okay, but I didn't actually want him to get hurt.
00:25:14 I just I was like, oh, that's a discussion because at the end of the game, you know, and really thought he was at her factor fix.
00:25:20 I thought he was her Henry Henry factor fiction.
00:25:22 Fiction if he like went down and like tore his foot and into two, I wouldn't have said that but it was like, oh, yeah, he got a little dinged up.
00:25:32 That's right.
00:25:33 That's relevant.
00:25:34 He was injured quite literally.
00:25:35 That's what you thought.
00:25:36 Yeah, you put it on the board.
00:25:37 You didn't know which he celebrated the circumstance of the situation.
00:25:40 I do want to put him in jail for that.
00:25:42 Put him in jail for that.
00:25:44 I think Max kind of I kind of agree with I don't think that he celebrated the injury.
00:25:48 I think he celebrated the hurt.
00:25:50 But the question is deep down.
00:25:55 He celebrated the injury.
00:25:56 Yeah, Max.
00:25:57 I got Max agree.
00:25:58 He said, yeah, I celebrate the hurt and it turned it turned into it.
00:26:02 An injury.
00:26:03 And then that explains Max is running away in shame trying to climb up a tree to get away from Hank is because he knew deep down that he might have had something to do with it.
00:26:11 The optics are bad.
00:26:12 The optics are bad.
00:26:13 I'm willing to agree to that.
00:26:16 The optics were you stuck in a tunnel on a ladder being like help.
00:26:19 Well, I knew I knew that it was going to look look that way.
00:26:25 But deep down that I know in my in my head that I was not truly celebrating his injury.
00:26:31 I was celebrating the circumstance that you're talking about Sunday night.
00:26:34 But now you also know deep down in your head that you're happy that he's injured.
00:26:38 That's where like you and Roan piss me off because you're both scumbags and you know, your scumbags and we know your scumbags.
00:26:47 But when push comes to shove, you're like, no, no, no, it's great.
00:26:51 Well, let's see what I mean.
00:26:53 Let's see what happens in game three.
00:26:54 Okay.
00:26:55 How's it?
00:26:56 How's it online for you right now, Max?
00:26:57 I don't give a shit.
00:26:59 I mean, Celtics fans are always going to be up my ass.
00:27:02 I mean, it's Boston.
00:27:03 Boston's a fucking trash ass town, trash ass people and can't fucking make flights and get shitty haircut.
00:27:10 No, not the haircut.
00:27:13 I take the haircut back.
00:27:15 It actually looks, you know, Hank is thinking about it because he keeps looking and doing the move where he's just like.
00:27:22 You can tell if you're watching this right now, Hank has checked himself out about 17 times.
00:27:28 I mean, it's a big day tomorrow and I had to go to a fucking 50 year old woman giving me a fade and I did it.
00:27:35 Did you get your haircut to impress Tom?
00:27:38 Duh.
00:27:39 What?
00:27:40 Duh.
00:27:41 Duh.
00:27:42 So wait, talk to me about your decision making about where you got your haircut.
00:27:46 You just picked a random stop and got off and then looked for a woman to cut your hair.
00:27:50 Well, also, my phone was dying.
00:27:55 You're about to be 31.
00:28:00 I wasn't trying to compound a mistake with another mistake.
00:28:03 You're going to be 31 tomorrow.
00:28:05 Tomorrow.
00:28:06 Tomorrow.
00:28:07 Tomorrow.
00:28:08 Tomorrow Eve.
00:28:09 Yeah.
00:28:10 No, it all worked out.
00:28:12 It's all good.
00:28:14 But yeah, I just Googled haircuts nearby.
00:28:19 And I went to one that was close.
00:28:23 And you got your phone charged.
00:28:25 It was a 50 year old woman.
00:28:27 She cut my hair in 20 minutes.
00:28:28 So my phone charged like 5%.
00:28:31 I think it's all right.
00:28:33 Yeah, it's fine.
00:28:34 All right.
00:28:35 Last thing.
00:28:36 So wait, Hank, are you you think Chris is not going to play tomorrow or today?
00:28:42 My gut says no.
00:28:44 Okay.
00:28:45 And Max, what kind of celebration do you have planned for when he doesn't
00:28:49 play?
00:28:50 Zero.
00:28:51 I want him to play.
00:28:52 And karma also may have already gotten me because I could have broken
00:28:55 part of my hand.
00:28:56 Oh, wait.
00:28:58 Why would it be karma if you were just celebrating the circumstances
00:29:02 of the situation?
00:29:03 Well, the optics of the optics of the car.
00:29:06 Got it.
00:29:07 So wouldn't then the optics when the karma retribution just be like
00:29:12 a superficial injury, not an actual injury?
00:29:15 Well, it could be like it hurts right now, but it might not be a
00:29:18 real. Okay.
00:29:19 So I think it's not a real injury.
00:29:21 It may look.
00:29:22 Yeah, then you actually are innocent.
00:29:23 But if it's a real injury, then you're guilty.
00:29:25 I'm willing to accept that ruling.
00:29:29 I had one last thing for us.
00:29:31 I teased it to you guys on the text chain.
00:29:34 Our guy, pug, our guy, pug, beast.
00:29:37 Is he, though?
00:29:39 I think so.
00:29:41 Beast.
00:29:42 He might be a pussy.
00:29:44 This is my text exchange with pug earlier today.
00:29:48 I was laughing so hard.
00:29:51 Pug text me.
00:29:52 So for context, I have season tickets to the Cubs who suck.
00:29:57 Blew another game tonight.
00:29:59 They're fucking trash right now.
00:30:01 Pug texted me at 2 40 today.
00:30:06 He said, Hey, do you know of anywhere employees can get
00:30:10 discounts on Cubs tickets was trying to hit a game this weekend.
00:30:16 And I replied to the text that he asked.
00:30:19 And I said, I'm pretty sure I know game time has a code.
00:30:23 We talk about the ad all the time.
00:30:24 Game time has great last minute deals, zone deals, flash deals,
00:30:27 get them all.
00:30:28 And I said, you could also ask memes or Hank because game time,
00:30:32 our wonderful sponsor gives us a lot of amount of tickets every
00:30:37 month.
00:30:38 I said, you may be able to get free tickets with game time.
00:30:41 And he said, we'll do appreciate it.
00:30:43 This is a 2 40 end of conversation.
00:30:47 5 11 PM.
00:30:50 He text me my bad.
00:30:53 I'm a giant pussy.
00:30:54 Are your tickets available this weekend?
00:30:57 There's more to this story that you don't know about.
00:31:05 What has been asking us about your tickets all week?
00:31:09 And I have told him so many times, just ask.
00:31:14 He has told us that if he's not, he's going on vacation.
00:31:17 He's not going to be here.
00:31:19 All you have to do is ask him if the tickets are available.
00:31:21 And he's like, Yeah, but like, I don't know.
00:31:24 Like, I don't want to make it look like that.
00:31:26 I need that.
00:31:27 I need his tickets.
00:31:28 Like, that's a bad look.
00:31:29 I'm like, dude, he literally tells us.
00:31:31 Yes.
00:31:32 Ask if you want to go to the games.
00:31:33 And he's like, well, I thought if I asked him this way, that
00:31:36 maybe he would have just like on his own, just giving me the
00:31:39 tickets. So that's when he showed me what he sent to you.
00:31:43 And memes looks at him and goes, type this word for word.
00:31:46 Say, I'm a pussy.
00:31:48 Are your tickets available this weekend?
00:31:51 Pug writes it out.
00:31:53 He writes it out.
00:31:54 He then gives me the phone and then goes, you have to click
00:31:57 also not to mention he has two friends coming this weekend,
00:32:04 and you gave him two tickets.
00:32:05 He's like, I don't really know what to do with the two.
00:32:09 Because I sent him to you.
00:32:11 Did you get him?
00:32:12 Yes.
00:32:13 I send you the Saturday tickets.
00:32:14 So now what are you going to do?
00:32:15 I have two tickets.
00:32:16 Did you think I'll figure it out?
00:32:18 I'll figure it out.
00:32:19 I'll figure it out.
00:32:20 I'm very appreciative of the tickets.
00:32:21 How many tickets did you think I had?
00:32:23 I don't know.
00:32:24 I was just trying to put feelers out.
00:32:26 I didn't get the initial text was like, I was just hoping deep
00:32:34 down. You would say, oh, I have tickets.
00:32:36 I have three.
00:32:37 Here you go.
00:32:38 This is crazy because I'm happy to give you tickets.
00:32:42 Like Max says, I tell you guys all the time.
00:32:44 It just asks.
00:32:45 There's days that I am using them or my friend who I call
00:32:49 on with is using them.
00:32:50 But you now have two tickets that are like good tickets and
00:32:57 you have three people.
00:32:58 What are you going to do?
00:33:00 Are you going to sell my tickets?
00:33:02 No, no, no.
00:33:04 I would never do that.
00:33:06 I could get another ticket in that section and just that's
00:33:10 expensive.
00:33:11 Yeah.
00:33:12 Or this is now a thing.
00:33:14 We can probably do a game.
00:33:16 Yeah, we can do a game.
00:33:17 I'm going to give you right now.
00:33:18 I'm going to tell you right now.
00:33:19 You are free and clear to sell my tickets to buy three more
00:33:25 tickets. Now I feel bad.
00:33:28 No, you don't feel telling you you're free and clear to do
00:33:31 it. If you would like to do that or I'll just buy you three
00:33:35 tickets or just buy.
00:33:37 So, yeah, so the three tickets.
00:33:38 What are you afraid of?
00:33:39 Why were you scared?
00:33:41 I felt like it would be very like I thought it'd be rude.
00:33:44 Just be like, hey, you got tickets.
00:33:45 Can I have them?
00:33:46 Like, I just felt like that was.
00:33:47 I actually can understand that.
00:33:49 I can understand that.
00:33:50 It probably would have been better to bring it up to you.
00:33:53 If you just see me this morning, you're just like, hey, I got
00:33:57 some buddies in town because then that actually would have been
00:34:00 an easier conversation.
00:34:01 Like I have buddies in town.
00:34:02 I'd be like, how many you'd like to be like, well, I only have
00:34:04 two tickets.
00:34:05 I think that was the plan.
00:34:06 And I just the timeline never lined up.
00:34:08 I probably could have done it.
00:34:09 It was all week.
00:34:10 It was all week.
00:34:11 He was terrified to have the conversation.
00:34:13 I get it.
00:34:14 He was never lined up.
00:34:15 And I just offer the tickets all the time.
00:34:18 I know.
00:34:21 I don't know.
00:34:22 You over thought this so much.
00:34:24 He thought that it didn't.
00:34:25 He thought that that didn't apply to him.
00:34:27 He was like, do you think that applies to me too?
00:34:30 I'm like, yes, you literally work for like you work directly
00:34:33 for him.
00:34:34 Like you do.
00:34:35 I love you.
00:34:36 It's not like a random like intern going through the office
00:34:40 being like, hey, big cat, can I have your Cubs tickets?
00:34:42 You see him like every single day.
00:34:44 If you work directly for we plug, we I mean, we now have to
00:34:48 figure out this ticket situation because you have two tickets
00:34:50 and three people and they're in a nice section.
00:34:54 So it's like you can't.
00:34:55 I'll buy you another seat.
00:34:57 It's also Cubs Cardinals, which is I'm appreciative.
00:35:01 Saturday Cubs Cardinals game is a very expensive ticket.
00:35:04 Yeah, I'm a pussy.
00:35:08 I love you.
00:35:10 You guys believe this?
00:35:12 No.
00:35:13 I believe it, but everyone here is asked for tickets except
00:35:19 Pug has been like, hey, can I use the tickets?
00:35:22 I'm like, yeah, no problem.
00:35:23 Yeah, it's a learning lesson.
00:35:25 Next time I'm just going direct direct to you.
00:35:28 Next time I want you to come up to me and say, hey, fuck face.
00:35:31 Give me your tickets.
00:35:33 I'll respect that.
00:35:34 I will do.
00:35:35 Also, this whole show while you guys are doing the rest of
00:35:39 the show and we were on mute, probably just look over me.
00:35:41 He's like, this is going to be bad.
00:35:43 It's not bad.
00:35:44 It's just funny to get a text from him being like, hey, I'm a
00:35:48 pussy. I actually was wondering if I could have your ticket.
00:35:50 Yeah, I overthought it.
00:35:54 Oh, I love you.
00:35:55 All right, I'm going to go on game time.
00:35:57 I need you to just be brutally honest from now on because I
00:36:01 feel like you're holding back on us.
00:36:02 All right, that's fine.
00:36:04 What if Pug is holding back on us?
00:36:06 He's just a fucking monster.
00:36:07 Yeah, he's just real asshole.
00:36:09 This could be his Joker vacation.
00:36:11 Yeah, he just starts shoving us around.
00:36:14 Just being like, listen, assholes, I'm Pug.
00:36:17 Get the fuck out of my way.
00:36:19 Fuck you guys.
00:36:20 Actually.
00:36:21 Yeah, there you go, Pug.
00:36:22 All right, Pug, I'm going to buy you another seat.
00:36:26 Game time.
00:36:27 Shout out game time.
00:36:28 We're going to buy you a seat and we'll get all three.
00:36:31 I apologize for the fuck you.
00:36:33 Sorry.
00:36:34 Okay, I think let's kick it to ourselves.
00:36:38 We got Dan Hurley talk.
00:36:39 We got Michael Collins.
00:36:41 We got Kevin Love.
00:36:42 We got pardon your take contentious.
00:36:45 Pardon your take.
00:36:46 So let's kick it back to ourselves in studio.
00:36:48 Today is Wednesday, June 12th, and Dan Hurley is staying in
00:36:54 stores Connecticut.
00:36:55 All is right with the world.
00:36:57 Great job by Dan Hurley getting paid so much money.
00:37:00 Yes, they're upping his contract right now.
00:37:02 It's smart move on his part.
00:37:03 Not signing a contract after Kentucky.
00:37:05 Yep, waiting.
00:37:06 So they're retooling.
00:37:07 He turned down the offer from Los Angeles.
00:37:10 I don't know if he ever really wanted the job.
00:37:12 I feel like he might have just played this perfectly.
00:37:15 Use the job to get more money to stay at home.
00:37:17 Dan Hurley might be so back to back national titles.
00:37:22 Obviously the new face of college basketball coaching and then to
00:37:27 turn down Kentucky and the Lakers in the same three months span.
00:37:35 That's a historic run.
00:37:37 It's great.
00:37:38 That's a historic run to turn down those two entities in that amount
00:37:43 of time for that much money.
00:37:45 He's just flexing on everyone, and it might just simply be that his
00:37:48 wife does not want to leave the Northeast.
00:37:51 Yeah, she's a ride or die.
00:37:53 She's like Los Angeles.
00:37:54 Dan, you know you can't even get a good cup of piss out there.
00:37:57 You're not going to be able to find your drinks.
00:37:58 You're not going to have fun.
00:37:59 The weather is going to be too nice.
00:38:01 His vibe is just Northeast bad weather, a little bit pissed off
00:38:04 all the time.
00:38:05 I would not like to see him in LA.
00:38:07 I think he fits in Connecticut.
00:38:09 Sometimes the grass isn't always greener.
00:38:11 And now LeBron back to the drawing board.
00:38:13 I would say it's a bad look for podcasters getting turned down by Dan
00:38:16 Hurley, your guy that you wanted.
00:38:18 LeBron does kind of get like the Lakers get embarrassed here a little bit.
00:38:22 This is when Coach K did it 20 years ago, but you don't turn down the
00:38:27 Lakers.
00:38:29 Are the Lakers in trouble?
00:38:30 The Lakers might be in trouble.
00:38:31 Oh, they're getting brawny.
00:38:33 I think they'll always say it's actually the head.
00:38:34 Yeah, but Brian is not going to be able to be developed.
00:38:36 Yeah, I think JJ Raddix going to be able to develop brawny.
00:38:39 Someone needs to develop this boy.
00:38:41 They need to get him.
00:38:42 They need to get their hands on him and figure out how to develop him.
00:38:45 They need to hire a special coach just for brawny.
00:38:47 Just for development.
00:38:48 Tom Kreen.
00:38:49 Coach K.
00:38:50 Yeah.
00:38:51 Already in the building.
00:38:52 Tom Kreen did a great job.
00:38:53 Anthony Edwards.
00:38:54 Yeah.
00:38:55 Just get him.
00:38:56 Just have him hang out.
00:38:57 Yeah.
00:38:58 It's actually the headline right now on ESPN.
00:38:59 It says Lakers are embarrassed now, but can they recover after Hurley's
00:39:02 rejection?
00:39:03 And it just bears repeating, but Rob Palenka just is Rob Lowe.
00:39:07 Every single time I see a picture, it's Rob Lowe.
00:39:10 Just like him.
00:39:11 I don't understand how those aren't the same guy.
00:39:13 They have the show about the Clippers.
00:39:14 They did the Showtime Lakers.
00:39:17 They have to be doing something with Rob Lowe as Palenka.
00:39:20 What would they do?
00:39:22 Just punked Fab Five?
00:39:24 He was on the Fab Five team.
00:39:27 But he wasn't around for Kobe and Shaq.
00:39:30 Yeah.
00:39:31 Maybe the Bubble.
00:39:32 It would rock.
00:39:33 The most boring series ever.
00:39:35 Yeah, the Bubble series, that'd be trash.
00:39:37 Even any movie that comes out that even mentions COVID, I'm like, "Nope.
00:39:40 Don't want to see it.
00:39:41 Don't want to relive that in my brain."
00:39:43 It'd be very funny if they did an episode of Punk'd, and it was Rob Lowe playing
00:39:47 Rob Palenka, and he's interviewing JJ Redick, being like, "Hey, you want the
00:39:50 Lakers job?"
00:39:51 And then JJ's like, "Yes."
00:39:52 And Rob Lowe's like, "You've been Punk'd."
00:39:54 I like that.
00:39:55 I'm not actually the guy.
00:39:56 Yeah.
00:39:57 And we got you.
00:39:58 We got you.
00:39:59 But also, you're going to get hired because we don't have any other options.
00:40:02 Yeah, but still.
00:40:03 Yeah.
00:40:04 This was our idea for Punk'd, but now it turns out that nobody else can coach this
00:40:07 team.
00:40:08 It's a big day for, they're supposed to be the Lakers guys.
00:40:10 Right.
00:40:11 They're supposed to be the Lakers.
00:40:12 Right.
00:40:13 You're supposed to get any coach you want, any free agent you want.
00:40:15 Yes.
00:40:16 Yeah, you should be able to just, essentially, it's the Lakers and the Yankees.
00:40:20 Yeah.
00:40:21 Every player, coach, successful person is just a future Laker or Yankee.
00:40:26 They don't know it yet.
00:40:27 Mm-hmm.
00:40:28 But if the Lakers or Yankees decide it, then it is done.
00:40:31 You will be mine one day.
00:40:32 Yeah, right.
00:40:33 Oh, yes.
00:40:34 You will be mine.
00:40:35 You don't have a say in it.
00:40:36 It's non-consensual.
00:40:37 Mm-hmm.
00:40:38 And now, Dan Hurley has bucked the trend, and he's having a hell of a run.
00:40:41 And did you see, also, he is getting free wings for life from J. Timothy's Tavern somewhere
00:40:47 in Connecticut.
00:40:48 They offered free wings for life if he stays.
00:40:50 That's great.
00:40:51 That's a great deal.
00:40:52 You don't even need to do the contract anymore.
00:40:54 It would be funny if he just stopped coaching and just got fat and just ate free wings every
00:40:58 single day.
00:40:59 That's my job.
00:41:00 Yeah.
00:41:01 If anybody offers me free wings for life, I might just quit.
00:41:03 I might retire.
00:41:04 You don't have to worry about buying food anymore.
00:41:06 Yeah.
00:41:07 Major expense.
00:41:08 Free wings for life.
00:41:09 Yeah, that's the best retirement plan.
00:41:11 I'm happy for college basketball, though.
00:41:13 This is good for college basketball.
00:41:14 This is good for having the hard-nosed, old-school throwback coach.
00:41:21 One person in this room, though, it really sucks for, and that would be our guy, Maxwell.
00:41:26 Well, he's not in this room.
00:41:28 Yeah, I guess he's not in this room.
00:41:30 I knew he wasn't leaving.
00:41:31 You knew it?
00:41:32 I never got my hopes up for him to leave once.
00:41:34 Yeah.
00:41:35 Even when he took, even, I was on the golf course yesterday, and I was told that, and
00:41:40 I was like, "Yep, that's fine."
00:41:41 I knew he was staying.
00:41:42 There was no chance that he was leaving.
00:41:43 You were golfing yesterday?
00:41:44 Yep.
00:41:45 On a work day?
00:41:46 Yep.
00:41:47 Billy still can't believe it, by the way.
00:41:48 For work.
00:41:49 You either die a Max, or you live long enough to become a Hank.
00:41:51 Yeah.
00:41:52 Yeah, I mean, I was hoping for that.
00:41:53 You've now become a Hank.
00:41:54 I'm Hank.
00:41:55 Did you have a good day?
00:41:56 Great day.
00:41:57 Great Monday.
00:41:58 I had a question, too.
00:41:59 I agree with you that you never fully believed it.
00:42:04 You were kind of consistent with that.
00:42:06 You were like, "He's going to stay.
00:42:08 I don't want to get my hopes up."
00:42:10 I did see, though, when it all went down yesterday, Alex Caravan, who's going to the NBA, tweeted
00:42:17 about Dan Hurley coming back to UConn.
00:42:20 Why would he care?
00:42:21 He's in the NBA, Max.
00:42:23 Yeah, he came back.
00:42:24 What?
00:42:25 No, you told me he was going to the NBA.
00:42:26 He was going to the NBA.
00:42:27 No, you told us.
00:42:28 And then he came back.
00:42:29 You actually sent us the tweet that's saying he was testing the waters for the NBA, and
00:42:34 you said Max was right, looking for credit.
00:42:36 Max was wrong.
00:42:37 There you go.
00:42:38 Oh, wow.
00:42:39 And I said, "While maintaining his college eligibility," and you said, "No, he's gone.
00:42:43 You can't write a letter like he wrote and come back."
00:42:46 But he's back.
00:42:47 Whatever.
00:42:48 So, I guess, congrats to UConn on winning another championship.
00:42:51 Probably.
00:42:52 Waltzing through the Big East.
00:42:53 It is.
00:42:54 I mean, to go three in a row hasn't been done since John Wooden.
00:42:58 Yeah.
00:42:59 It would never be done again.
00:43:00 It'd be incredible, especially in this era.
00:43:02 Yeah.
00:43:03 Okay, so, yeah, you guys, that sucks for you, Max, even though you never got your hopes
00:43:07 up.
00:43:08 It also sucks for Billy.
00:43:09 We can't really trust him as a reporter anymore.
00:43:11 Well, I'm not ready to write Billy's report off just yet.
00:43:15 Okay.
00:43:16 Because Billy told us that ... Well, he told the world that Dan Hurley was going to go
00:43:19 to the Lakers.
00:43:20 He confirmed that by getting shushed by Dan Hurley's son.
00:43:23 And then, when the report came out that he was staying, Big Cat, you hit up Billy pretty
00:43:28 much right away and just asked him, "Hey, what's going on with this report, Billy?
00:43:31 We thought that we could trust you on this one."
00:43:34 And Billy said, "I need to talk to Andrew.
00:43:36 I need to make sure that this is actually official, official.
00:43:39 It could still happen."
00:43:41 So, we don't know.
00:43:42 We don't know if Dan Hurley's staying at UConn, per Billy.
00:43:45 Billy has to talk to Andrew and see if he gets shushed again.
00:43:48 Yeah, yeah.
00:43:49 So, he said, "I don't believe it.
00:43:52 The son was nodding his head while shushing."
00:43:54 They were having mimosas.
00:43:56 Yeah.
00:43:57 He said, "If you drink a mimosa at 10 a.m., that's a man who doesn't have a hard decision
00:44:01 to make."
00:44:02 Billy also said ... Right.
00:44:03 But wouldn't that ... He staying in UConn was the not hard decision.
00:44:06 Is that also true?
00:44:08 You know what it sounds like to me?
00:44:09 Yeah.
00:44:10 It could be a great time or the worst time ever.
00:44:13 You need a mimosa.
00:44:14 Yeah, true.
00:44:15 There's no ... True.
00:44:16 Someone drinking a mimosa could be in any state of mind.
00:44:18 I think it's pretty obvious what happened.
00:44:20 Dan Hurley drinking a mimosa probably the morning of his interview.
00:44:24 He just got a great vacation with his family to Los Angeles.
00:44:27 And he was like, "Oh, fuck it.
00:44:29 I'm going to hit the bottomless mimosa bar before this interview with the Lakers.
00:44:32 I don't give a shit if they offer me the job.
00:44:34 Let's have a good time."
00:44:35 Yeah.
00:44:36 I'm getting paid more regardless.
00:44:37 Yeah.
00:44:38 You said ... Mimosa, champagne and orange juice?
00:44:40 Champagne, orange juice.
00:44:41 Yeah.
00:44:42 I'm not a mimosa guy.
00:44:43 Screwdriver.
00:44:44 Screwdriver over all the Bloody Mary, mimosa, all that shit.
00:44:46 Let me put you on some game, big cat.
00:44:48 Yeah?
00:44:49 Do a screwdriver with some champagne in it.
00:44:52 No, I don't like champagne.
00:44:53 That's the whole reason I don't like mimosa.
00:44:55 It's good.
00:44:56 The carbonation.
00:44:57 Yeah.
00:44:58 The carbonation, the bubbles are good.
00:44:59 I don't like champagne.
00:45:00 But a little taste.
00:45:01 You know what's good?
00:45:02 No, I'm telling you, I do not like champagne.
00:45:04 Not a little taste.
00:45:05 Okay.
00:45:06 Watermelon, mimosa, pretty good too.
00:45:08 Oh, that sounds good.
00:45:09 Yeah.
00:45:10 How do yellow watermelon ...
00:45:11 What about a watermelon screwdriver?
00:45:12 Yeah, you can do that.
00:45:13 Okay.
00:45:14 And then add some champagne too.
00:45:15 No, I don't like the champagne.
00:45:16 You know there's yellow watermelons, PFT?
00:45:18 Yes.
00:45:19 Yellow watermelons?
00:45:20 Not for me.
00:45:21 We had that on the golf course yesterday.
00:45:22 Not for me.
00:45:23 It was a little weird.
00:45:24 Hank also, when we got there, because we were doing ... For Paz Chicago, we were doing their
00:45:29 golf outing.
00:45:30 I wasn't golfing because I had to work, but I went for the first hour or so.
00:45:34 And we represented in your ...
00:45:35 Hank showed up an hour late.
00:45:37 Shut up.
00:45:39 And then was like, "Where the hell's the food?"
00:45:42 And it looked like he was the Pied Piper.
00:45:45 There was about 10 of us following him around the entire private club while he was looking
00:45:49 for the food.
00:45:50 He's like, "Where the food?
00:45:51 You got burgers?
00:45:52 You got hot?"
00:45:53 Just yelling at random people, and then he found it.
00:45:54 T-town was at 1130, and Big Cat told everyone to get there at 830.
00:45:57 No, whoa, whoa, I did not.
00:45:58 I did not say anything.
00:45:59 Everyone was there at 9 o'clock.
00:46:00 I followed directions.
00:46:01 It should have been 930.
00:46:02 We had two and a half hours before we took off.
00:46:03 I followed directions.
00:46:04 Did you get food?
00:46:05 I followed directions.
00:46:06 Yeah, we had lunch.
00:46:07 We hit the range for an hour.
00:46:09 We had all the time in the world.
00:46:11 Great spread.
00:46:12 But you got food?
00:46:13 Got food.
00:46:14 Okay, that's-
00:46:15 Had breakfast.
00:46:16 We were the first ones to eat.
00:46:17 And the first on the range.
00:46:18 We should tell people just in case there might be some people listening, like, "Hey, maybe
00:46:21 this show's a little bit different right now.
00:46:22 You might notice a change in our voice or our takes."
00:46:25 It is 941 on Tuesday morning, which is early.
00:46:29 Hank, does your brain work this early?
00:46:31 Are you fully awake yet?
00:46:32 No.
00:46:33 I already worked out this morning.
00:46:34 Oh, shit.
00:46:35 Did you eat?
00:46:36 I haven't ate.
00:46:37 Oh, God.
00:46:38 You gotta eat.
00:46:39 I know.
00:46:40 It's Taco Tuesday down the street.
00:46:41 Damn.
00:46:42 Yeah, I'm going on a mini three-day vacation.
00:46:45 So we'll Zoom show on Thursday, although we've already done the interview.
00:46:50 Appreciate the boys letting me do a Zoom show.
00:46:52 You know what it was?
00:46:53 I was trying to remember why I'm going away today, and then it dawned on me that it's
00:46:58 because my kids are out of school, but their camp hasn't started yet.
00:47:01 So my wife was like, "We're doing something.
00:47:02 I'm not dealing with this while you go to work."
00:47:04 I was like, "That's fair.
00:47:05 That's completely fair."
00:47:06 Yeah, you forget that kids get out of school, and then that's the worst time for parents.
00:47:10 When you're a kid, summer vacation was the best.
00:47:13 They just flex.
00:47:14 They're just like, "I only got school today."
00:47:15 What would happen if you just let them stay at home?
00:47:18 Like, "Okay, don't break anything."
00:47:20 By themselves?
00:47:21 Yeah.
00:47:22 Very big problem.
00:47:23 If you came home, like three hours, let them at home for three hours.
00:47:27 I mean, they probably would just be crying at the door being like, "We got scared.
00:47:31 Where'd you go?"
00:47:32 Yeah.
00:47:33 You got to learn sometimes.
00:47:34 A five and a three-year-old, they play well together, but it's just pre-fighting.
00:47:40 When they're playing well together, it's pre-fight.
00:47:42 It's the pre-fight dance.
00:47:43 It always leads to a fight.
00:47:45 Yeah.
00:47:46 But wait, what were we talking about with Billy?
00:47:48 Oh, Billy.
00:47:49 Yeah.
00:47:50 So Billy's report, he saw him drinking mimosas.
00:47:51 To me, that screams guy that's on free vacation, doesn't care about interview.
00:47:56 Yeah.
00:47:57 He's like, "I'm going to take the visit so I can get the steak and get to see the facilities,
00:48:02 and then I'm done."
00:48:03 We like being mimosed and dined.
00:48:05 Correct.
00:48:06 Everybody likes that.
00:48:07 Billy said, to Big Cat's question, "So we think maybe still Lakers."
00:48:12 Billy said, "Yeah, to be honest, I know what I saw.
00:48:15 I think him staying is BS, or they were straight up clowning me."
00:48:18 So Billy's essentially saying, "I hear that you're staying at UConn.
00:48:23 I don't agree with you."
00:48:24 Yes, I don't agree that Dan Hurley is staying at UConn, even though the report's out there.
00:48:29 It could happen.
00:48:30 I'm just saying it hasn't been confirmed yet by Billy.
00:48:33 I don't agree with your decision.
00:48:34 Yeah.
00:48:35 My interpretation is correct.
00:48:36 Yeah.
00:48:37 Yeah.
00:48:38 Yeah.
00:48:39 Billy got shushed.
00:48:40 If you were drinking a mimosa, you must be going.
00:48:41 Turns out getting shushed is not confirmation of your report.
00:48:44 Thank God we didn't report it, because he told us not to.
00:48:47 Yeah.
00:48:48 Yeah.
00:48:49 Turns out a Saturday morning with your family in Venice Beach, you're probably going to
00:48:51 be drinking, or Santa Monica, you're probably going to be having a mimosa.
00:48:54 That's one of the top mimosa spots in the world.
00:48:56 It's wonderful for mimosas.
00:48:58 We don't know.
00:48:59 Billy might have been having mimosas too.
00:49:00 He probably had a lot of mimosas.
00:49:02 Yeah.
00:49:03 Yeah.
00:49:04 Yeah.
00:49:05 So that was a big news story.
00:49:06 Then we obviously had the Panthers up two-nothing on the Oilers.
00:49:11 We have ... The Panthers are just a hockey machine.
00:49:14 Their defense is so good.
00:49:16 Just strangles the Oilers to death.
00:49:19 They played great, great team defense, and now the Oilers are in a must ... I think they're
00:49:25 a must win game three, can't lose game four.
00:49:28 I think they're all must wins.
00:49:30 I think that the Panthers, they have so many ways to beat you.
00:49:35 It got a little chippy, which I think could be good for the Oilers.
00:49:38 Oh, I think it was desperate by the way.
00:49:40 It was like, "We're going to play your style."
00:49:43 The Panthers were like, "Okay, fine.
00:49:45 Go ahead and play our style.
00:49:46 We'll still beat you."
00:49:47 That shot at the end was ... That was desperation right there.
00:49:50 That was frustration.
00:49:51 But it got a little chippy.
00:49:52 There were some elbows to jaws.
00:49:55 The leg hit on Lusterinen.
00:49:56 Yeah.
00:49:57 That was bad.
00:49:58 That was pretty dirty.
00:49:59 Dirty.
00:50:00 Probably deserving.
00:50:01 I saw some people saying the league's getting soft for giving game misconduct for that.
00:50:05 To me, even as a casual, I was like, "Yeah, you can't do that in a hockey game."
00:50:08 Yeah.
00:50:09 Try to take his knee out.
00:50:10 The Panthers, they are a wagon.
00:50:12 I feel like the Oilers are going to win game three at home though.
00:50:16 They need the tits.
00:50:19 They need the tits.
00:50:20 They need the tits.
00:50:22 Because the Panthers have the little kid.
00:50:24 The little kid behind the glass flexing.
00:50:27 Baby Gronk's cousin.
00:50:28 Is that really Baby Gronk's cousin?
00:50:30 Sure.
00:50:31 Feels like it.
00:50:32 At some point, we're all related.
00:50:34 Yeah, that's true.
00:50:35 Going way, way back.
00:50:36 Pangea.
00:50:37 The Panthers do look like a machine.
00:50:40 They're a machine.
00:50:41 They have an answer for everybody except for McDavid, who sometimes looks like he has to
00:50:44 do it all himself when he's doing his little back and forth spins, getting the entire defense
00:50:49 to chase him, and then finding a guy in front of the net who misses a shot.
00:50:53 I was thinking about this last night.
00:50:55 If you're McDavid and you're so good at hockey, do you get frustrated with your teammates
00:50:59 for not being as good as you?
00:51:01 Definitely.
00:51:02 I think you would, right?
00:51:03 Definitely.
00:51:04 I played with a couple guys like that back in the day that just, they were so mad at
00:51:07 the rest of their team.
00:51:08 Like, "Why can't you just do the things that I do?"
00:51:10 Right.
00:51:11 It's just, everyone's ... When he's moving the way he moves, and you make a perfect pass,
00:51:18 and someone's not able to bury it, that would be frustrating.
00:51:22 It would be.
00:51:23 Like, just be me.
00:51:24 Just be as good as me.
00:51:25 Why can't you be like me?
00:51:26 It's not that hard to do.
00:51:27 I do it every day.
00:51:28 Yeah, be brilliant with this.
00:51:31 They did get a goal on Bob, though.
00:51:33 They got one goal.
00:51:34 They kind of shot it through him.
00:51:35 Yeah.
00:51:36 Bob saved it, and then the puck just kind of made its way through his body somehow.
00:51:39 Bob's really good, too, at always getting his mask off, or the goal comes off, and they
00:51:45 have to stop the play any time.
00:51:47 Any time it feels like the Oilers have a little bit of momentum, which is a savvy move by
00:51:51 Bob.
00:51:52 It definitely is.
00:51:53 He tells his defense, "Just run into the goal, please."
00:51:55 Yeah.
00:51:56 Whitney and the Spitting Chicklets boys will be there on, what is it, Thursday night?
00:52:00 Yeah, Thursday night.
00:52:01 Thursday night.
00:52:02 Extra day travel for the long travel.
00:52:03 Yeah.
00:52:04 The pod is in the building?
00:52:05 Pod is in the building.
00:52:06 Longest travel in the history of the Stanley Cup.
00:52:08 I saw that.
00:52:09 Very cool.
00:52:10 The poor journalists.
00:52:11 Oh, my God.
00:52:12 Think about the journalists.
00:52:13 Imagine being a journal.
00:52:14 Yeah, they get the extra day off, though.
00:52:16 Yeah, but the flight is just insane.
00:52:18 You got to go through customs.
00:52:19 And they got to go back, maybe.
00:52:20 And you got to come back.
00:52:21 Maybe.
00:52:22 And then come back again.
00:52:23 Might not have to.
00:52:24 That's true.
00:52:25 The Panthers keep playing the way they are.
00:52:26 You get the mileage, though.
00:52:27 Yeah.
00:52:28 You get the frequent flyers.
00:52:29 Yeah, that's true.
00:52:30 But do you get to keep those?
00:52:31 I think so.
00:52:32 I don't know.
00:52:33 Sometimes companies don't do that.
00:52:34 They just bogart them for you?
00:52:36 They'll book the flight themselves.
00:52:37 Yeah, it is tough.
00:52:39 It is tough having to make all that travel.
00:52:41 Meals in various hotels that you might not be familiar with.
00:52:44 Maybe you get locked out of your hotel room twice.
00:52:46 Yeah, it's tough.
00:52:47 Living on the road.
00:52:48 Hard work.
00:52:49 Hard work.
00:52:50 That's why they have to turn around and do the drafts coming up right away after.
00:52:55 That's brutal.
00:52:56 I really feel bad for hockey journalists.
00:52:58 Especially Charles Barkley.
00:52:59 Yes.
00:53:00 Hockey journalist, Charles Barkley.
00:53:01 You could put him on any show.
00:53:03 When they brought him out after the first period, I was just like, "I hope that Charles
00:53:06 Barkley does every hockey game."
00:53:08 I feel like he's going to come on this show next year because he's going to be so bored
00:53:11 and wants something to do.
00:53:12 Okay, so good point, Hank.
00:53:16 Good comment that I wanted to just throw out there.
00:53:18 How many people do you think think that Inside the NBA is done forever?
00:53:24 Right now?
00:53:25 A lot.
00:53:26 Way too many.
00:53:27 A lot.
00:53:28 Yeah.
00:53:29 Hank, were you one of them?
00:53:30 No.
00:53:31 Oh, okay.
00:53:32 Next year.
00:53:33 Yeah.
00:53:34 I was a couple months ago.
00:53:35 I think there's going to be a lot of people like, "What?
00:53:38 They're back on TV in the fall?
00:53:41 They still have a whole other year?"
00:53:43 Magic Johnson thought it was over.
00:53:44 He tweeted out about it and then he had to delete the tweet once people were like, "Hey,
00:53:47 it's actually not over this season.
00:53:50 It's next year."
00:53:51 You're going to see Charles Barkley and Shaq at a level of not giving a fuck that we didn't
00:53:54 think was possible.
00:53:55 Did you guys see the fan yelling at Charles Barkley?
00:53:58 I really wish Charles Barkley had punched that fan.
00:53:59 He should have punched him, yeah.
00:54:00 Yeah, because that guy- He dropped an F-bomb on the Canadian broadcast.
00:54:03 Charles Barkley did?
00:54:04 Yeah.
00:54:05 Oh, wow.
00:54:06 Should he be in jail?
00:54:07 No.
00:54:08 Okay.
00:54:09 Just saying.
00:54:10 Does FCC apply to different countries?
00:54:11 I don't know.
00:54:12 Yeah, I think the FCC's in America.
00:54:14 Yeah.
00:54:15 So it was good.
00:54:16 You can say whatever you want on the air in Canada.
00:54:17 Yeah.
00:54:18 Literally anything.
00:54:19 Don Cherry was on it for 25 years.
00:54:21 Yeah.
00:54:22 Yeah, there was a kid, he's probably 19 years old, going up to Charles Barkley like, "You
00:54:27 have no rings.
00:54:28 You're a bum."
00:54:29 And I got mad for Charles Barkley.
00:54:31 Charles Barkley shouldn't have to deal with that.
00:54:33 No.
00:54:34 Because there's also an age.
00:54:37 If a person that clearly watched it went up and was ribbing him, but a kid who's 18 years
00:54:44 old who just doesn't ... You weren't even alive when Charles Barkley was playing.
00:54:49 That would piss me off.
00:54:50 It was funny when the kid went to the security guard afterwards and was like, "That man doesn't
00:54:53 have any rings.
00:54:54 You don't understand.
00:54:55 He doesn't have a ring."
00:54:56 Yeah.
00:54:57 Charles said, "What if I just punched him?
00:54:58 I wish he had."
00:54:59 So Charles, the kid doesn't know that Charles Barkley, back in the day, he would throw guys
00:55:03 like that through a window.
00:55:04 Yeah.
00:55:05 He actually did do that one time.
00:55:06 Yeah.
00:55:07 He absolutely did.
00:55:08 He should be allowed to do it again.
00:55:09 Yeah.
00:55:10 Okay.
00:55:11 What else?
00:55:12 Anything else before we do Hot Seat, Cool Throne, and then we get some interviews?
00:55:15 Did you see ... I saw that there ... I think someone in the House, what is it, Congress,
00:55:22 were petitioning to have Caitlin Clark on the US Olympic team?
00:55:25 Yeah.
00:55:26 Good use of time.
00:55:27 Okay.
00:55:28 I think there's a representative from Indiana.
00:55:29 That one I saw and was just like, "Fuck this."
00:55:30 No, the guy from Indiana, he issued some sort of statement.
00:55:34 He wrote a letter, I think, to the WNBA asking to protect Caitlin Clark more.
00:55:38 It's crazy.
00:55:39 Crazy.
00:55:40 I'm trying to think, is there anything else that we got to talk about before Hot Seat,
00:55:45 Cool Throne?
00:55:46 I just want to say that the United States men's national team should fire Greg Berhalter
00:55:50 on the record.
00:55:51 Why?
00:55:52 Why isn't this guy fired?
00:55:53 He was fired.
00:55:54 Every other day, it's Berhalter out.
00:55:56 Just fucking make up your mind, people.
00:55:57 He was fired in 2022, and then they brought him back.
00:56:00 He was actually fired?
00:56:01 Well, not renewed.
00:56:02 Oh.
00:56:03 And then they did a coaching search, and they're like, "We're going to get back to Greg with
00:56:05 six Gs."
00:56:06 Got it.
00:56:07 We lost 5-1 to Columbia.
00:56:09 Right.
00:56:10 And this is ... I've told you guys this, because you guys get frustrated with US soccer being
00:56:14 back.
00:56:15 Is the US soccer team good?
00:56:16 They are a good team.
00:56:18 They've got very good players.
00:56:19 And in the next World Cup, they should be competing to reach the quarterfinals, semifinals.
00:56:23 Right.
00:56:24 They should be one of the best teams in the world.
00:56:27 But with Greg, it's not going to happen.
00:56:29 It's not.
00:56:30 I know it's not going to happen, but we're still keeping him around.
00:56:32 And it's very frustrating.
00:56:34 Very frustrating for soccer.
00:56:35 Get him out.
00:56:36 Get Berhalter out.
00:56:37 Fire him.
00:56:38 I might boycott the US Men's National Team.
00:56:40 I'm boycotting Greg.
00:56:42 Fuck Greg.
00:56:43 So you're not going to watch?
00:56:44 No, I'm boycotting him.
00:56:45 I might not watch Copa America because of Greg.
00:56:49 I can't boycott the World Cup.
00:56:51 Okay.
00:56:52 No boycotting the World Cup.
00:56:53 I'll boycott some of the games.
00:56:55 The Euros are coming up.
00:56:56 That we're not playing in.
00:56:57 What are we playing right now?
00:56:59 Copa America?
00:57:00 Yeah.
00:57:01 That's the United States version of the Euros.
00:57:02 Got it.
00:57:03 And we have to win this or Berhalter's out?
00:57:06 Yeah.
00:57:07 I'm saying we have to make it to the finals or else I-
00:57:10 But we're not going to watch it.
00:57:11 I'm not going to watch some of the opening round games.
00:57:15 Every time I fucking see Berhalter out, I'm like, "What the fuck?
00:57:18 This guy's still around?"
00:57:19 Yeah.
00:57:20 It's crazy.
00:57:21 All he's done is get into a pissing match with our star player's dad.
00:57:24 It's crazy.
00:57:25 And then he won't let the star player play because of that.
00:57:26 Get this guy out of here.
00:57:27 He stinks.
00:57:28 Get this guy out of here.
00:57:29 Okay.

00:58:28 Hank, your hot seat.
00:58:29 My hot seat is the field.
00:58:31 Oh.
00:58:33 At the US Open.
00:58:34 Okay.
00:58:35 The Greens, Wyndham Clark came out yesterday, said they're borderline.
00:58:39 What does that mean?
00:58:40 Really, really fast.
00:58:41 Okay.
00:58:42 No rain forecasted.
00:58:43 It's going to be like 90 degrees.
00:58:44 So they're just going to, they're already super fast.
00:58:46 Kind of get faster.
00:58:48 I love it.
00:58:49 And yeah, you're getting the videos of people throwing the ball in the green and it just
00:58:53 rolls off.
00:58:54 Oh, I love it.
00:58:55 I love it.
00:58:56 Dropping balls in the rough.
00:58:57 I saw that one, a guy, he was standing next to a giant bush and he's like, "Watch this.
00:59:01 This is how tough this course is."
00:59:02 And he just threw the golf ball into the bush and it disappeared.
00:59:05 He's like, "Look at that."
00:59:06 He's like, "Yeah, dude, you just threw a fucking golf ball into a bush."
00:59:09 I love it.
00:59:10 Yeah.
00:59:11 Yeah.
00:59:12 He's like, "The course has its teeth out this week."
00:59:13 You'll never be able to survive this, just throwing a ball into the woods.
00:59:16 Yeah.
00:59:17 He's like-
00:59:18 He's like, "I'm standing next to a lake."
00:59:19 And he throws it in.
00:59:20 Look at that.
00:59:21 The ball just disappeared.
00:59:22 It's toted into the-
00:59:23 This course isn't playing around.
00:59:24 I'm excited.
00:59:25 Hank, you actually rooting for the course?
00:59:29 I feel like you're a fake course guy.
00:59:32 You want to see the guys go low.
00:59:34 Guys like us, we want to see them struggle.
00:59:37 Yeah.
00:59:38 I want-
00:59:39 I want pain.
00:59:40 Not just plus territory.
00:59:41 I want the winner to shoot a plus 10.
00:59:42 No, I would like minus five to minus one.
00:59:45 Minus five to minus one.
00:59:47 Okay.
00:59:48 I think Willie Z might be.
00:59:52 That's why I picked this.
00:59:53 Is he live?
00:59:54 Yeah, I think he's live.
00:59:55 Hank, when you said borderline, that sounded like a golf term to me.
00:59:58 No, Wyndham Clark said borderline.
01:00:00 I don't know what that means.
01:00:01 Borderline what?
01:00:02 I don't know.
01:00:03 Borderline between what's one of the borders?
01:00:06 Borderline even playable.
01:00:08 Oh, okay.
01:00:09 They're already borderline.
01:00:10 Oh, and it hasn't baked out yet.
01:00:14 Baked out and it's 87-90, 93, 92, 90.
01:00:17 Yeesh.
01:00:18 Going to love it.
01:00:19 And we played there.
01:00:20 We were there last summer around this time, so it's like-
01:00:22 Right there.
01:00:23 Being able to kind of experience the same conditions.
01:00:26 Same exact holes, right?
01:00:27 It makes it really cool.
01:00:28 We played Pinehurst number two?
01:00:31 We ate pizza on the third fairway.
01:00:33 Of Pinehurst number two?
01:00:34 Yeah.
01:00:35 Holy shit.
01:00:36 Yeah.
01:00:37 I did chip onto Riggs' practice screen.
01:00:38 That was pretty much on Pinehurst number two.
01:00:40 Wow.
01:00:41 I walked on the fairway.
01:00:42 What?
01:00:43 You trespassed?
01:00:44 Did you hit a shot?
01:00:45 I didn't.
01:00:46 Oh, damn.
01:00:47 That's where it would have been borderline.
01:00:48 It would have been borderline.
01:00:49 Yeah.
01:00:50 Okay.
01:00:51 My cool throne, I deleted my note.
01:00:54 I can't find it, so it's Max.
01:00:56 You never had one?
01:00:57 I did.
01:00:58 No, I did.
01:00:59 I did walk-
01:01:00 There's no chance you had one.
01:01:01 I did.
01:01:02 I did.
01:01:03 I did.
01:01:04 I'll remember it later.
01:01:05 Your spider ate your note?
01:01:06 Max looks like the guy from County Crows, who apparently dated Jennifer Aniston.
01:01:08 Oh, Adam Durtz.
01:01:10 Did you guys see this picture?
01:01:12 No, but I know what he looks like.
01:01:14 That dude has dated so many people.
01:01:16 Yeah, so cool throne Max.
01:01:18 That dude is an all-time boyfriend.
01:01:20 I mean, look at him.
01:01:22 Who?
01:01:23 I just sent the picture.
01:01:24 Okay.
01:01:25 This is a podcast.
01:01:26 This is a podcast.
01:01:27 We can put it on some YouTube show.
01:01:29 We can put it on the YouTube.
01:01:30 Okay.
01:01:31 And Rumble.
01:01:32 Yeah.
01:01:33 And Rumble.
01:01:34 Jake's a big fan of that.
01:01:35 Yeah, I know what Adam Durtz looks like.
01:01:36 You think he looks like Max?
01:01:37 That picture you don't think looks like Max?
01:01:39 Not at all.
01:01:40 Not even close.
01:01:41 I think it's just the beard.
01:01:42 Not even close.
01:01:45 If you go through-
01:01:46 I'm sorry.
01:01:47 He doesn't.
01:01:48 What?
01:01:49 He doesn't.
01:01:50 If you go through his list of former girlfriends, it's incredible.
01:01:51 Yeah.
01:01:52 This guy.
01:01:53 He dated Jennifer Aniston.
01:01:54 I think he dated Courtney Cox.
01:01:56 I mean, dude-
01:01:57 And friends.
01:01:58 He dated Christina Applegate.
01:01:59 Long December.
01:02:00 You put that on?
01:02:01 Chick's going to want to hang out.
01:02:03 What?
01:02:04 It was-
01:02:05 Oh, you have the real one.
01:02:06 Yeah.
01:02:07 So we don't have to do the one that doesn't look like Max that you're trying to-
01:02:08 It does look like Max.
01:02:09 Marry it.
01:02:10 You're mass lighting us.
01:02:11 Max, that does not look like you.
01:02:12 I like to sing Counting Crow songs.
01:02:13 Okay, fine.
01:02:14 Then it looks like you.
01:02:15 I'm going to sing it.
01:02:16 Okay.
01:02:17 Counting Crow nuts, some people are saying.
01:02:23 The Roaring Kitty stuff.
01:02:24 Yeah.
01:02:25 Yeah.
01:02:26 Explain it to Hank.
01:02:27 All right.
01:02:28 So Roaring Kitty, he's a guy from the internet.
01:02:31 I know that part.
01:02:32 Okay.
01:02:33 Well, that's all I got.
01:02:34 He's a guy from the internet who ... The meme stocks, the GameStop, he basically ... So
01:02:42 he manipulated the stock market, which is a joke because that's what everyone does.
01:02:48 So essentially the big corporate stock market guys who've been making money all these years
01:02:55 were like, "This is illegal what he's doing.
01:02:57 He's artificially pumping up GameStop.
01:03:00 He shouldn't be allowed to do this."
01:03:02 Everyone was basically like, "You're telling on yourself because that is what you guys
01:03:07 do constantly and you make money hand over fist for this."
01:03:11 And then he came back.
01:03:12 So he was gone for what, three or four years?
01:03:15 And then he came back and all he did was tweet one picture and GameStop skyrocketed again.
01:03:22 I think he's made ... If he sold any of his positions, he would have made like $700 million.
01:03:28 Apparently what happened was he recently just-
01:03:31 Off of how much?
01:03:32 Off of nothing.
01:03:33 He recently just put hundreds of millions of dollars into GameStop, like himself.
01:03:37 So he is like a big, big investor in GameStop at the moment.
01:03:41 And then he did a live stream last week and the stock popped at first and then it went
01:03:45 back down.
01:03:46 So he might have briefly become a billionaire and then I think he lost a lot of that money.
01:03:53 But the normies of the world are saying that it's illegal what he's doing and unfair what
01:03:59 he's doing, but he's doing nothing different than what everyone does, including our politicians
01:04:03 and anyone who essentially has insider information and rigs the stock market.
01:04:09 Yeah, he didn't have insider information.
01:04:12 He had ... I guess the insider information that he had was understanding the internet
01:04:16 and understanding that if he put his case out there repeatedly, people would sympathize
01:04:19 with GameStop, go against the people that were shorting the stock, and then everybody
01:04:24 could make money until it reached an unsustainable peak and then it takes a nosedive and then
01:04:29 if you don't get out, then you lose your money.
01:04:30 So it is risky what people are doing.
01:04:33 But he's made a lot of money.
01:04:34 Yeah, no, I also ...
01:04:35 All the way back down.
01:04:36 And Hank, when they do the other part that was bullshit, whenever he would do the picture
01:04:42 or it would start popping, they would pause trading and essentially say it's irregularities,
01:04:48 like we can pause trading.
01:04:50 So it's all rigged.
01:04:51 This was ... Remember, this was ... What was the app that people were using to trade on?
01:04:57 Robinhood.
01:04:58 Robinhood.
01:04:59 This is the Robinhood controversy because Robinhood stopped people from being able to
01:05:02 trade GameStop.
01:05:03 So Robinhood was part of the institutions essentially saying you can't rig it like they're
01:05:09 rigging it, even though it's always been rigged.
01:05:11 I just had a really dumb thought.
01:05:13 I almost said a second ago, you know what would rock?
01:05:16 If they made a stock market but for sports teams.
01:05:20 And whether or not you thought a sports team would win a game or win a championship.
01:05:25 That would be cool.
01:05:26 That would be cool.
01:05:27 It would be very cool.
01:05:28 Think about it.
01:05:29 Put a picture on it.
01:05:30 Think about it, yeah.
01:05:31 I mean like a long option.
01:05:32 Yeah, a long option.
01:05:33 Yeah, you put a long option on it.
01:05:34 Yeah.
01:05:35 I think we did a ... I'm going to say 6.2 out of 10 explanation of Raring Kitty.
01:05:41 Yeah, pretty much hit it.
01:05:42 I mean, there's going to be a lot of people who say you missed this or you're wrong about
01:05:45 this, but I think we did a pretty good job of surface level.
01:05:48 We kind of nailed it.
01:05:49 He also likes beer.
01:05:50 He likes drinking beers.
01:05:52 He kind of looks like PFT too.
01:05:53 Yeah, I got tagged a lot in that.
01:05:56 I was thinking about maybe getting into some stock market shit, some stocks, getting heavy
01:05:59 into doing some financial ...
01:06:00 Get back into Top Shot.
01:06:02 No.
01:06:03 Are those horses?
01:06:04 NBA Top Shot.
01:06:05 No.
01:06:06 I'm still in.
01:06:07 I'm still highly leveraged.
01:06:08 I have an NFT, I think.
01:06:11 I bought a Marcus Smart Top Shot that's probably worth $2.
01:06:15 I paid like 200 for.
01:06:17 I was given a ... Yeah, I was given an NFT that I don't even know how to get.
01:06:25 Yeah, we thought about getting into racehorses, the NFT racehorses.
01:06:27 Did Billy make NFTs for us?
01:06:29 Oh yeah.
01:06:30 He made some money off it.
01:06:31 Not for us.
01:06:32 Yeah, he made some money.
01:06:33 He just drew elephants and said, "This is an NFT."
01:06:36 It was a mammoth, but yeah.
01:06:38 Sorry.
01:06:39 Yeah.
01:06:40 I'm also looking at more of Adam Duritz's greatest hits here.
01:06:42 Dated Lara Flynn Boyle as well.
01:06:45 Wynonna Ryder.
01:06:46 This dude is awesome.
01:06:47 Wynonna?
01:06:48 Whoa.
01:06:49 How did you say that?
01:06:50 Isn't it Wynonna?
01:06:51 Yeah.
01:06:52 Wynonna.
01:06:53 It's Wynonna.
01:06:54 Is it?
01:06:55 No, it's not.
01:06:56 It's Wynonna Ryder.
01:06:57 I've never heard that.
01:06:58 I've never heard that.
01:06:59 It's definitely Wynonna Ryder.
01:07:00 It's Wynonna?
01:07:01 Wynonna Ryder, yeah.
01:07:02 No, it's Wynonna Ryder.
01:07:03 No, no, it's not.
01:07:04 It's got to be Wynonna.
01:07:05 It's Wynonna Ryder.
01:07:06 She's the mom in Stranger Things.
01:07:07 I've never heard Wynonna Ryder.
01:07:08 I've never heard Wynonna Ryder.
01:07:09 You've never heard somebody say Wynonna Ryder?
01:07:14 I don't think so.
01:07:15 That's the first time for me.
01:07:17 Wynonna?
01:07:18 Wynonna Ryder.
01:07:19 She'll always be Wynonna to me.
01:07:25 Who told you Wynonna Ryder?
01:07:27 I've always called her Wynonna.
01:07:30 That's crazy.
01:07:31 Yeah.
01:07:32 That stopped Hank in his tracks.
01:07:34 Anyways, Adam Duritz.
01:07:37 Great work.
01:07:38 Yeah.
01:07:39 We have it.
01:07:40 I'm sending it to Max.
01:07:42 What?
01:07:43 The official pronunciation from herself.
01:07:45 It's Wynonna Ryder.
01:07:48 From herself?
01:07:49 Yeah, there's a video of her.
01:07:51 Okay, let's hear it.
01:07:52 Oh, we have breaking news.
01:07:53 McCaffrey is the Madden cover athlete.
01:08:01 Oh, nice.
01:08:02 Yeah, sure.
01:08:03 That makes sense.
01:08:04 Max, you want me to clean the deli slicer?
01:08:08 Look at Jacob, always on top of it.
01:08:11 All right, moment of truth.
01:08:13 This is taking forever.
01:08:15 Wynonna Ryder.
01:08:17 How to pronounce Wynonna Ryder?
01:08:20 I mean, Wynonna, right?
01:08:24 Wait, so that didn't-
01:08:25 Yeah, that was it.
01:08:26 That wasn't her.
01:08:27 That wasn't her.
01:08:28 She was laughing at how we pronounced her name.
01:08:30 She probably thought that was funny.
01:08:31 That was no different than what we've been saying, yeah.
01:08:33 Yeah, but she was laughing at him, like, "That's not it at all."
01:08:36 No, it's Wynonna.
01:08:38 You guys are kind of simps for calling her by her preferred pronunciations.
01:08:41 You told us that she said how to pronounce it.
01:08:43 I hadn't watched the video yet and she was standing there.
01:08:45 A real man pronounces a woman's name however he sees fit.
01:08:48 Wynonna.
01:08:49 Yeah, I've never heard that.
01:08:51 All right, what was your cool throne?
01:08:52 Or was that your cool throne?
01:08:53 What I know-
01:08:54 Wait, who's cool throne?
01:08:55 That was Hank.
01:08:56 Hank.
01:08:57 All right, good job, Hank.
01:08:58 Good job, Hank.
01:08:59 My hot seat is Buster Olney.
01:09:01 Yes, mine too.
01:09:02 He got his account hacked yesterday.
01:09:04 Well, we don't know if it was hacked.
01:09:06 Some people are saying it was hacked.
01:09:07 I choose to believe that these were all actually Buster Olney tweets.
01:09:11 He tweeted, "The season is canceled due to COVID."
01:09:14 He tweeted out, "Shohei Otani has been banned for life from the MLB in connection to charges
01:09:19 with gambling.
01:09:20 His trial is on August 28th.
01:09:22 It is speculated he could get life in prison."
01:09:24 Yup.
01:09:25 He tweeted, "A couple of fake trades.
01:09:26 The New York Mets are finalizing a deal that will send Francisco Lindor to the Oakland
01:09:30 Athletics.
01:09:31 Sources tell ESPN."
01:09:32 That one was funny because I was at my son's T-ball and the dad sitting next to me literally
01:09:37 said Lindor to the A's.
01:09:39 Crazy.
01:09:40 It would be wild.
01:09:41 It would be.
01:09:42 I was like, "Really?"
01:09:43 And then I looked and saw that it was Buster Olney just tweeting all over the place.
01:09:47 He also said, "I hate Mets."
01:09:48 Yeah.
01:09:49 This is a good use of a hacker's time.
01:09:52 If you're going to hack a prominent account like that, at least fuck with people.
01:09:56 Don't just do out the PlayStation 5 tweet or any obvious scam, like giving away autographed
01:10:02 iPads.
01:10:03 Yeah.
01:10:04 I wish the hacker hadn't done any of the hack tweets first, just started going ripping off
01:10:08 news, fake news.
01:10:09 Yeah, but this is good.
01:10:10 I like this hacker.
01:10:11 I don't know who he is or she.
01:10:14 Definitely he.
01:10:15 But good job for this guy.
01:10:16 Yeah, definitely he because he said, "Okay, if I get an unlimited prison sentence, who
01:10:20 will come and bring panties?"
01:10:22 Yeah.
01:10:23 Well, could be she.
01:10:24 Could be she.
01:10:25 Yeah.
01:10:26 This was, I swear to you, I don't even know who I hacked.
01:10:28 Who is this Buster?
01:10:29 Yeah.
01:10:30 It's good stuff.
01:10:31 I thought for a second when he started doing the fake trades, I thought he might be specifically
01:10:36 fucking with his own fantasy league.
01:10:38 Like knowing that some of the guys on his team might trade him Francisco Lindor.
01:10:42 Yeah.
01:10:43 How mad do you think?
01:10:44 I mean, just imagining Buster only sitting in his house, having this happen and just
01:10:50 feeling as helpless as possible.
01:10:51 Yeah.
01:10:52 It's a very funny visual.
01:10:54 It's very funny.
01:10:55 And I know he doesn't have his account back yet, but he has been able to delete some of
01:10:59 the tweets or they've been deleted by somebody.
01:11:01 Okay.
01:11:02 But I hope this keeps happening to reporters.
01:11:05 Oh, Peter King got hacked last week too.
01:11:06 Yeah, he did.
01:11:07 Peter King got hacked big time.
01:11:08 They put out a crypto, King.
01:11:09 Yeah.
01:11:10 Yeah.
01:11:11 Everyone's getting hacked.
01:11:13 Dollar sign King.
01:11:14 Yeah.
01:11:15 Okay.
01:11:16 Your cool throne.
01:11:17 Then my cool throne, I've got two.
01:11:19 One is Zach Wilson.
01:11:20 Yeah.
01:11:21 Zach Wilson is currently in the mix for the starting job.
01:11:24 What?
01:11:25 In Denver, which is crazy because Sean Payton, he compared Bo Nix to Peyton Manning and Drew
01:11:30 Brees.
01:11:31 So imagine how good Zach Wilson has to be to be competing to start over a combination
01:11:35 of Peyton Manning and Drew Brees.
01:11:37 Yeah.
01:11:38 So think about it.
01:11:39 Yeah.
01:11:40 I don't know how much we can trust reports coming out right now, but I guess it's an
01:11:44 open, the saddest open competition of all time.
01:11:46 I feel like Zach Wilson, when he got traded, basically every year, every coach says, "Hey,
01:11:53 you know what I'm going to do for you?
01:11:54 I'm going to put out that there's an open competition.
01:11:58 That's the nicest thing I can do for you."
01:11:59 And then he won't get it.
01:12:01 But there was a competition.
01:12:03 There has been competing going on.
01:12:05 Yeah.
01:12:06 Would it be funny?
01:12:07 I think it'd be very funny if Zach Wilson was very good for the Broncos.
01:12:11 What if he just went out there and lit shit up?
01:12:14 What if he was better than Patrick Holmes in Patrick Holmes' own division?
01:12:17 Yeah.
01:12:18 That would be very funny.
01:12:19 It'd be very funny.
01:12:20 That would be a very funny wrinkle.
01:12:21 Memes, don't say anything at all if you think that'd also be funny.
01:12:23 Okay.
01:12:24 Okay.
01:12:25 Perfect.
01:12:26 I can confirm from memes.
01:12:27 Perfect.
01:12:28 Perfect.
01:12:29 My other cool throne is Big Dom.
01:12:30 Yes.
01:12:31 Big Dom got a promotion.
01:12:32 Yes.
01:12:33 His old title, Senior Advisor to the General Manager, Chief Security Officer.
01:12:35 New title, Senior Advisor to the General Manager/Chief Security Officer/Game Day Coaching Operations.
01:12:43 So I hope he got a pay raise.
01:12:45 He's basically a coach now.
01:12:46 It sounds like he just does everything for the Eagles.
01:12:48 Yeah.
01:12:49 Build the entire team out of Big Dom.
01:12:50 I think this was something so that he could be on the sidelines during games.
01:12:54 Oh, loophole.
01:12:55 Yes.
01:12:56 So he was not allowed to be there before?
01:12:57 Why not?
01:12:58 Yeah.
01:12:59 And also, why not just make him a nose tackle?
01:13:00 True.
01:13:01 I would love that.
01:13:02 Could have been on the sidelines a long time ago.
01:13:04 I also saw one tweet that said that, so I have no idea if that's actually true.
01:13:08 Oh, okay.
01:13:09 No, one tweet is enough sourcing.
01:13:10 I'm going to back you up.
01:13:11 Okay, good.
01:13:12 Absolutely.
01:13:13 I'll read one tweet and be like, "Yep, that's the story," and I'm sticking to it.
01:13:16 Because he's been on the sidelines for years, right?
01:13:19 Yeah.
01:13:20 Yeah, correct.
01:13:21 But I think that there may have been something about last year that he wasn't ... I'm making
01:13:25 this up.
01:13:26 I'm making this up.
01:13:27 I need to stop.
01:13:28 So if you give him somewhat of a coaching title, then he's allowed to shove opposing
01:13:32 players?
01:13:33 Right.
01:13:34 No, he's just allowed to be on the sideline.
01:13:35 Again, I have no idea what I'm talking about.
01:13:37 This is all off one tweet.
01:13:38 Yeah.
01:13:39 Yeah.
01:13:40 Well, shout out Big Dom.
01:13:41 Yeah.
01:13:42 I'm going to stop.
01:13:43 I'm going to stop the motion.
01:13:44 Okay, my hot seat was also buster only.
01:13:45 I'll say hot seat wearing red to rodeos.
01:13:47 I don't know if you guys saw the party bus.
01:13:50 That bull rocks.
01:13:52 Very funny that he jumped over and found the one woman wearing red and then just ragdolled
01:13:56 her.
01:13:57 She's okay though.
01:13:58 She's alive.
01:13:59 Yeah, I think both the people that got sent to the hospital are okay.
01:14:01 Yeah, so we can laugh about it.
01:14:03 But you got to root for the bull.
01:14:05 Oh, always.
01:14:06 Right?
01:14:07 Always.
01:14:08 You have to root for the bull.
01:14:09 I don't root for the bull as much in a rodeo because I don't think they actually ... They
01:14:10 don't hurt the bulls in a rodeo.
01:14:13 Whereas in the bull fighting, I'm rooting for the bull every time.
01:14:16 Yeah, when-
01:14:17 That's a little different.
01:14:18 When the matadors are trying to kill it.
01:14:19 Yeah.
01:14:20 I think in a rodeo, don't they tie a string around the bull's nuts to piss it off?
01:14:25 Maybe.
01:14:26 Sure.
01:14:27 They do something-
01:14:28 Did you read a tweet about it?
01:14:29 Yeah, I did.
01:14:30 Okay, then yeah.
01:14:31 They do something to piss the bull off before it goes out and starts bucking around.
01:14:33 Yeah.
01:14:34 And this bull was just ... Everyone was clapping for the bull as it's running around the ring
01:14:37 like, "Oh, this is awesome.
01:14:38 What a funny moment.
01:14:39 Ha ha ha ha ha."
01:14:40 And then the bull just goes full bull and just jumps right over that fence.
01:14:43 Party bus.
01:14:44 Yeah, party bus is ... He's a legend.
01:14:46 When he gets back to his boys, he's like, "You'll never guess what I did.
01:14:52 I just fucked everyone up."
01:14:53 Is that running of the bulls, is that still a thing?
01:14:56 Yeah.
01:14:57 At Kelowna, yeah.
01:14:58 It's crazy.
01:14:59 Yeah, I root for the bulls there too.
01:15:00 People just voluntarily run in the wild with them?
01:15:01 Yeah.
01:15:02 Yeah.
01:15:03 The Ryan brothers did it one time.
01:15:04 Couldn't be me.
01:15:05 Yeah.
01:15:06 What?
01:15:07 You want to do it?
01:15:08 Want to rush more punishment?
01:15:09 Yeah.
01:15:10 Grit week?
01:15:11 Grit week Pamplona?
01:15:12 No, rush more punishment.
01:15:13 When is it?
01:15:14 When is Pamplona?
01:15:15 It's mid-July.
01:15:16 No, no, no.
01:15:17 We can't do that.
01:15:18 Yeah, shit.
01:15:19 Damn it.
01:15:20 I was going to say yes, but timing doesn't work out.
01:15:24 It's right in the middle of- We get our own bulls.
01:15:30 Just have Alex Caruso come in.
01:15:32 Yeah.
01:15:33 His old teammates.
01:15:34 Chase us around.
01:15:35 Running of the bulls.
01:15:36 And then kill them afterwards?
01:15:37 Yeah.
01:15:38 Is that what they do?
01:15:39 Yeah.
01:15:40 Jake, what?
01:15:41 That's crazy.
01:15:42 That's what bull fights are.
01:15:43 Yeah, bull fights.
01:15:44 They kill the bulls.
01:15:45 I didn't know that.
01:15:46 Yeah.
01:15:47 Oh, yeah.
01:15:48 Thought they just had a little run?
01:15:50 Well, actually-
01:15:51 They go for a run and then they lasso them and bring them back.
01:15:53 No, I'm pretty sure those guys get killed.
01:15:55 They kill all the bulls in the running of the bulls?
01:15:56 I know in bull fights, the goal is to kill the bull.
01:15:59 Like the matador steps to the side and starts stabbing it with shit and then the bull dies.
01:16:04 But I don't know what happens at the actual running of the bull.
01:16:06 They might take those bulls and then send them to bull fights.
01:16:09 All right.
01:16:11 What happens during the running of the bulls in Pamplona?
01:16:13 This is from PETA, so I'm assuming it's not great.
01:16:15 After provoking a few charges from the exhausted bull, he aims to kill him by stabbing him
01:16:19 between the shoulder blades and through the heart with a sword.
01:16:21 So I think they kill them.
01:16:22 Yeah.
01:16:23 I think they run him into the Coliseum or whatever, and then they kill him.
01:16:30 Yeah.
01:16:31 The aim of the matador is to always kill the bull.
01:16:33 And his fight is only considered successful if it ends in the bull's death.
01:16:37 Wow.
01:16:38 Learn something new every day.
01:16:39 Yeah.
01:16:40 My cool throne is Kevin Durant.
01:16:43 He's back on Twitter.
01:16:44 I just got to chuckle out of this.
01:16:47 Some guy said, actually what we were talking about a couple of weeks ago, the only way
01:16:51 KD can redeem his legacy is if he returns to the Thunder and wins them their first ever
01:16:55 championship LeBron style, then all his sins will be forgiven.
01:17:00 We good?
01:17:01 So I tweeted Kevin Durant and Kevin Durant replied, you ain't God.
01:17:04 Go get ready for work.
01:17:05 It's good.
01:17:06 Go get ready for work is a sick burn.
01:17:08 Yeah.
01:17:09 Because you know that guy is getting ready for work when he tweeted it and he's just
01:17:13 like, yeah, go take a shower.
01:17:14 Or if he doesn't have a job, he's even down worse.
01:17:17 Yeah.
01:17:18 Just a great, great burn.
01:17:19 So Kevin Durant's back.
01:17:20 And then the guy, yeah, the guy replied, Kawhi is better than you.
01:17:24 You know you have him.
01:17:25 That's a lame ass reply.
01:17:28 So good job for Kevin Durant.
01:17:29 He's back.
01:17:30 He's back.
01:17:31 He's back.
01:17:32 He's back.
01:17:33 Or he's cool.
01:17:34 Jerome, Jake, my hot seats, the Olympics.
01:17:35 Apparently Paris is pulling the plug on air conditioning and the Olympic village for the
01:17:38 athletes.
01:17:39 What's in an effort to go green.
01:17:42 But now some countries are bringing their own portable AC units.
01:17:46 Yeah.
01:17:47 You don't fuck with a man's air conditioning.
01:17:48 Apparently this is a thing like in Paris.
01:17:51 They just don't rely on AC as much as us.
01:17:54 What if they reinstall the AC if Caitlin Clark attends?
01:17:57 I could work and then every athlete has to talk about how grateful they are for Caitlin
01:18:01 Clark attending.
01:18:02 That would be good.
01:18:04 Yeah.
01:18:05 Yeah.
01:18:06 And my cool throne is Mercedes Lewis.
01:18:07 This guy is still hanging around.
01:18:09 He re-signed with the bears.
01:18:11 And the fact he's been in the league since I was in middle school.
01:18:13 Yeah.
01:18:14 That's insane.
01:18:15 He's still doing it.
01:18:16 As a tight end, like a physical position.
01:18:19 It is crazy that a guy like him, cause he, it feels like he has a 12th man on the bench
01:18:25 and NBA career going right now where it's like, yeah, he's just going to keep showing
01:18:29 up, but he loves being around the boys.
01:18:31 Yeah.
01:18:32 You bring them in, have a mentor, just hang out.
01:18:34 Good locker room guy.
01:18:35 He needs four more games to play the most as a tight end in NFL history.
01:18:39 So that's probably why he's playing.
01:18:40 Retire after week four.
01:18:42 Yeah.
01:18:43 Mercedes Lewis played, uh, in college for UCLA in 2005.
01:18:50 Colorado was definitely not in the pack.
01:18:52 12 Utah wasn't in the pack.
01:18:54 12.
01:18:55 So when was his first year?
01:18:56 And now the patrol is gone in the 2006, 2000.
01:18:59 Holy shit.
01:19:00 2006.
01:19:01 This is insane.
01:19:02 Yeah, it's insane.
01:19:03 Congrats to him.
01:19:04 Uh, okay.

01:20:21 Do more with Viator.
01:20:22 Okay, here he is.
01:20:24 Caddy Michael Collins.
01:20:25 Okay, we now welcome on a very special guest.
01:20:29 You can find him on ESPN.
01:20:32 He is America's caddy.
01:20:34 That is what he's, he's joined the zoom with.
01:20:37 It is Michael Collins, golf expert, America's caddy comedian.
01:20:42 Uh, Michael, thank you for joining us.
01:20:44 We appreciate it.
01:20:45 We want to do a little us open talk with you, but before we do that, let's just, you just
01:20:50 said you golfed yesterday on a former us open course.
01:20:53 How, how did you golf and how is the game right now?
01:20:56 Uh, the game was fantastic.
01:20:59 I played the BMW charity pro-am for the corn fairy tour last week and then went up and
01:21:06 played in the Eagles for autism event that was at Marion.
01:21:11 And uh, the game was great in at the BMW and the game was not quite as great at Marion
01:21:19 because they could hold a us open on that course this weekend as well as good as that
01:21:25 golf course condition wise is in those greens were running like a 13 to a 14 on the stint
01:21:31 meter right now.
01:21:33 So it was like, it was like, imagine trying to hit a putt in your bathtub and make it
01:21:39 stop before it gets to the drain.
01:21:41 That's how the greens were running.
01:21:42 Jesus.
01:21:43 Wow.
01:21:44 Yeah.
01:21:45 That sounds pretty intense.
01:21:46 Are you still a caddy?
01:21:47 Are you America's golfer now?
01:21:48 Cause it seems like you're playing a lot, but I don't see you on many bags.
01:21:51 Yeah.
01:21:52 It's kind of funny how that worked out.
01:21:54 Like I put the jumpsuit on and don't really get to carry bags as much as I, as I used
01:21:59 to before.
01:22:00 Uh, I'll do a fill in if, if need be.
01:22:04 I don't know that I'll go back to caddy and full time again on tour as I did for a long
01:22:09 time.
01:22:10 Uh, but I kinda, I kinda liked the gigs that I got right now, which is good and fun.
01:22:16 It's not quite as volatile as being a caddy.
01:22:20 People thought like, Oh cool, man, you're a caddy.
01:22:22 So you got guaranteed this and Garrett.
01:22:24 Nah, man, it don't work like that.
01:22:26 Like I got fired on a Thursday after the first round.
01:22:29 There's no contracts, there's no guarantees for caddies out there and you got to pay all
01:22:34 your own expenses, airfare, hotel, rental car, food, all of that stuff.
01:22:39 So you know, if you got a guy who's missing four or five cuts in a row and you got a family
01:22:45 at home and bills to pay, you can get a little, get a little scary.
01:22:49 Why'd you get fired on a Thursday afternoon after, after a first round?
01:22:53 What happened?
01:22:54 I was working for a dude, me and him almost got in a fight on a golf course.
01:22:58 I literally put the bag down and was like, you want to go?
01:23:01 Well, I was caddy.
01:23:03 So let's just say, you know, of all the people that I caddy for, we're friends now.
01:23:08 But at the time, what seemed like a good connection ended horrifically.
01:23:13 So I caddy for Daniel Chopra for like three months maybe.
01:23:19 And at one point we were just not getting along so bad.
01:23:23 I put the bag down in the middle of the tournament.
01:23:25 It was like, do you want to go right here in front of everybody?
01:23:28 Like I got embarrassed in front of all these people.
01:23:31 That's crazy.
01:23:32 Yeah.
01:23:33 And so then when he, when it, when it got to its worst point ever, we were in Chicago
01:23:38 and uh, he shot six over and then was in the locker room and sent his wife Samantha out
01:23:47 cause he didn't want to do it face to face.
01:23:49 Oh no.
01:23:50 Maybe he was scared.
01:23:51 She was scared and she was like, uh, we're going to make a change.
01:23:54 And I was like, yeah, that's probably a good idea.
01:23:56 Yeah.
01:23:57 Yeah.
01:23:58 Work it out.
01:23:59 Yeah.
01:24:00 You do it.
01:24:01 Good idea.
01:24:02 You've got a very interesting career path too.
01:24:03 I was, I was reading up about you and how you got into golf in the first place and how
01:24:06 you kind of just networked your way and ended up finding a career in media that you didn't
01:24:11 really plan out for at all.
01:24:12 But, um, one of the craziest parts that I read about was when you started caddying,
01:24:18 you didn't really know what you were doing.
01:24:19 You were just kind of like you were a good hang for people, right?
01:24:22 Which I feel like that's not a bad place to be for a caddy.
01:24:25 If you're looking to like switch up the vibes a little bit, get somebody who's funny that
01:24:29 you like out there that can bust your balls a little.
01:24:31 But when you first stepped onto the golf course as a caddy, you did not know how to rake a
01:24:35 bunker properly.
01:24:37 And that made me realize I don't know how to rake a bunker proper.
01:24:41 No idea.
01:24:42 So you know how many people feel that way?
01:24:44 It was Robert Gomez.
01:24:45 I was still doing standup comedy full time and Robert Gomez called me up and was like,
01:24:50 what are you doing next week?
01:24:51 What are you talking about?
01:24:53 He goes, man, I'm playing like shit.
01:24:54 I'm not having fun on the golf course.
01:24:57 I need you to come caddy for me just so I can remember to have fun again on the golf
01:25:01 course.
01:25:02 And I was like, all right, cool.
01:25:04 And we get to play.
01:25:05 It was in Louisiana on, it was like Nike tour back in the day.
01:25:09 It's corn fairy tour now.
01:25:11 But uh, we get there and of course was underwater.
01:25:13 No practice rounds, no pro am.
01:25:16 They let us drive a cart around the course on Wednesday and said, you're not allowed
01:25:20 to hit a shot.
01:25:21 So I literally got the bib on Thursday and it's for real.
01:25:24 And he comes over and takes the head cover off the driver on this par five and he goes,
01:25:28 he looks at me and I go, Hey, don't hit it in the bunker.
01:25:31 Cause I don't know how to rake like this pros.
01:25:33 Okay.
01:25:34 And he gives me this weird look.
01:25:35 I'm like, I don't make no sense.
01:25:36 And he did dead in the bunker.
01:25:38 And I was like, it comes over and slams the club and I just told you not to hit it in
01:25:41 there, dude.
01:25:42 And he goes, you can't say that, man.
01:25:44 That's all I'm going to focus on.
01:25:45 Now you tell me what to say.
01:25:47 And we start laughing.
01:25:48 And when we get down there, I was like, what are you going to do?
01:25:50 And he goes, I'm gonna hit a three wood in the front green side bunker.
01:25:53 Cause this is a par five.
01:25:54 I'm gonna get up and down for par.
01:25:56 And I was like, bitch, I just told you I can't rake.
01:25:59 You're hitting it in two bunkers on the first hole.
01:26:01 And I was like, if you hit it in that front bunker, I'm going to call immigration and
01:26:04 tell him you're illegal.
01:26:05 And so he laughs and jumps down and he's posing, called his shot right in the front bunk.
01:26:11 And he looks at me, I put the bet.
01:26:13 Yo, this dude is not even supposed to be in this country.
01:26:17 And he starts laughing.
01:26:18 It's like, get your ass down in that bunker and start raking boy.
01:26:22 And then the other, and we realized, yo, there's two other dudes playing with us.
01:26:26 And both them and their caddies are like, what the hell's going on?
01:26:29 Yeah, this is the first hole.
01:26:31 And we're laughing and stuff like that.
01:26:32 And after that, other guys were like, Hey man, give me your phone number when you got
01:26:36 a week off from comedy.
01:26:38 Call me.
01:26:39 But I have to admit, I even when I started playing golf, I've always been good at reading
01:26:45 greens.
01:26:46 And I think that was, that was like one of those secret things that also helped me stay
01:26:52 being a caddy and employed for so long.
01:26:54 Cause I'm for some reason, have always been good at reading green.
01:26:58 So it's weird.
01:26:59 How do you rake a bunker though?
01:27:00 Cause I don't know.
01:27:01 So at a green side bunker, what you want to try to do is make the rake marks go towards
01:27:07 where the green is.
01:27:09 So you don't want to rake parallel to the green.
01:27:12 So let's say the green is my head.
01:27:14 You don't want the rake lines like this.
01:27:17 You want them like this.
01:27:18 And the reason why is when you do that, when you rake this way and the ball lands here.
01:27:25 So now there isn't sand in between the ball and your club.
01:27:32 So it gives it a cleaner lie.
01:27:33 But, but wait, that's just, you're just helping the people that play behind you.
01:27:37 Yes.
01:27:38 You're paying it forward.
01:27:39 What if there was just a real asshole in the caddy?
01:27:42 Well, then the PGA tour finds out who it was and that dude gets a pink slip with a little
01:27:48 fine in his locker.
01:27:50 Cause the player's responsible for that.
01:27:52 Wow.
01:27:53 And we take pride as caddies too.
01:27:54 Like there's nothing cooler if it's a big crowd and your boy hits it in a bunker and
01:27:58 hits it out there to tap in for the par and you break the hell out that bunker and you're
01:28:03 getting out the bunker.
01:28:04 I realized I was like, Hey man, will you vacuum my house and make the lines look that good?
01:28:08 Come mow my grass.
01:28:09 He'd be like, yeah, okay.
01:28:11 Yeah.
01:28:12 So, so what's the, you mentioned the greens, uh, or, or, you know, being able to read a
01:28:16 putt what this U S open, we've seen, we've seen what it looks like.
01:28:22 It's the turtle shell.
01:28:23 It looks like it's impossible.
01:28:25 It's baked out.
01:28:26 What are these guys going to have to deal with this week at Pinehurst?
01:28:30 So it was two things and I caddied this event before they made the changes.
01:28:36 And then I covered the event when, if you remember the last time we were here, they
01:28:40 played both the men's and women's in back to back weeks.
01:28:44 And I played Monday after Michelle, we won.
01:28:47 So that was Martin Kimer, one, the men's Michelle, we want her only major then the next week.
01:28:52 And so two things they're really going to have to deal with here.
01:28:55 One is off the tee.
01:28:58 This is because they let it go back to all natural.
01:29:02 It's not a lot of big rough off of the tee, but what it is is native areas.
01:29:07 And what that means is like, sometimes you got a perfect lie.
01:29:10 Like it rolls through all this crap and then just sits there and sits up.
01:29:14 And other times, like there's like this gorse grass stuff that it'll sit behind and you're
01:29:19 screwed, absolutely screwed.
01:29:21 And so that's going to be one of the things you've got to deal with off the tee.
01:29:25 If you're not in the fairway, then as you said, those turtle shaped greens, almost every
01:29:30 green has a little fall off.
01:29:33 So similar to an open championship, you kind of want to play to the front number, especially
01:29:38 if the weather, like what they're looking at right now, perfect, perfect weather and
01:29:43 a firm golf course, you can't fly the ball to the flag.
01:29:48 You have to land it short and then let it hop up.
01:29:52 And when the greens are real firm, like what you don't see is one of the things we love
01:29:55 as amateurs, because we can't do it, is when you see those dudes hit those wedges and nine
01:30:00 irons and they hit and spin back.
01:30:02 Boy, I love seeing that.
01:30:05 You're not going to be able to do that on these.
01:30:07 They're going to take two hops and just stop or even roll out just a little bit.
01:30:11 They'll trickle forward like they do it a lot of the open championship.
01:30:15 So whose game does this favor in these conditions?
01:30:18 There's no course that doesn't favor Scotty Sheffler.
01:30:22 Dude, I mean, you name the type of golf course as the ball striker that he is.
01:30:29 He has the ability to just he figures it out and then kind of bores the hell out of everyone
01:30:37 to death.
01:30:38 Right.
01:30:39 So this is also a golf course that, you know, big hitters can do well here because the shorter
01:30:46 the club that you have in your hand, especially if you're in the fairway, the more that you
01:30:50 can control that spin and the better off that you're going to be able to attack.
01:30:54 What the USGA is famous for is putting whole locations on these greens that dare you to
01:31:01 hit at them.
01:31:03 Yeah, the good.
01:31:04 The one thing about what the USGA and what the US Open is sometimes a 15 footer is a
01:31:11 great shot.
01:31:12 But what the USGA gives you those pins where you're just like, I think I can get to this.
01:31:18 This is where caddies earn their money.
01:31:19 Yeah.
01:31:20 When a guy like this fits my shot sheet, you know, I'd be able to work this right to that
01:31:24 hole and the caddy got to be like, man, let's let's work it kind of to the middle of this
01:31:29 green and if it accidentally feeds, they're cool.
01:31:33 Yeah.
01:31:34 Yeah.
01:31:35 You can hit a good shot and get penalized and you can hit a crappy shot and just barely
01:31:39 be OK.
01:31:41 So so what as a caddy, what's the one thing that people don't understand about the job
01:31:46 of a caddy?
01:31:47 Because as far as I understand, it's always I'm watching the caddies there to help.
01:31:52 But eventually it's up to the player to make the shot and decide what they want to do.
01:31:56 But what's the hard part of being a caddy that people kind of don't really see day to
01:32:00 day?
01:32:01 It's that psychologist that you are on the golf course.
01:32:06 And it's the stuff that they don't show on TV.
01:32:09 You know, the old saying back in the day was just the three ups.
01:32:14 Show up, stand up, shut up.
01:32:16 That was it.
01:32:17 You know what I mean?
01:32:18 Caddies were a bunch of vagabonds and stuff.
01:32:19 They would do is be passed out in bushes and just stumble up there.
01:32:23 And that was it.
01:32:24 But it's the money that's out on the PGA Tour right now.
01:32:26 There's no such thing as that anymore.
01:32:28 Right.
01:32:29 So it's the relationship between the player and the caddy, the player and the caddy, because
01:32:35 you're with a guy for seven hours, eight hours for the day, not just on the golf course.
01:32:41 And so what are you talking about in between shots?
01:32:45 And as a caddy, you got to know, like, does my guy have his A game today?
01:32:50 And if he has his B game, he knows he has his B game.
01:32:53 I know he has his B game, but we got to like figure out a way to get the best out of that
01:32:58 B game.
01:33:00 So some cases he'll want to hit one club and can I talk him in to a different club at the
01:33:06 right moment?
01:33:07 I mean, I would wake up four hours before our tee time just for wind forecasts to try
01:33:13 it.
01:33:14 If we had an afternoon tee time, it was I was on the course early watching other guys
01:33:18 hit shots on holes that I know were going to be pivotal for my guy.
01:33:22 Yeah.
01:33:23 You know.
01:33:24 Yeah.
01:33:25 So that part of the game, people don't understand.
01:33:27 They think it's just you just walk, carry the bag and keep the clubs clean.
01:33:30 And it's not like that at all.
01:33:32 And sometimes the hardest part of caddying is wanting to say something to a dude and
01:33:37 knowing when not to say something where other caddies or people would jump in there and
01:33:42 be like, hey, man, it's going to be OK.
01:33:44 Don't worry, we're going to get through this.
01:33:46 And then the dude looks you like I'll freaking kill you, man.
01:33:48 Right.
01:33:49 You're like, shut up.
01:33:50 And and sometimes it's like just looking at a dude and not saying nothing.
01:33:54 Like you know what?
01:33:55 You're pissed off.
01:33:56 I'm not getting that pissed off, whatever.
01:33:57 Yeah.
01:33:58 You need a kick in the ass.
01:33:59 I'm not saying nothing.
01:34:00 You're you're constantly tasked with reading the room and just trying to figure out what
01:34:05 what his vibes are and matching it, whether good or bad.
01:34:08 That's that is very difficult.
01:34:10 Yes.
01:34:11 And you're the only it's you and the player.
01:34:14 That's it.
01:34:15 That's the only one that's in there that that really can give that legally can give advice.
01:34:21 Yeah.
01:34:22 Right.
01:34:23 To a player in there.
01:34:24 And it's the only sport like that.
01:34:25 And it's like it was so much the opposite of doing stand up comedy.
01:34:29 So it was like I get to be the vice president behind the curtain.
01:34:32 The only one that got this dude's ear, you know, and then they do the interview and you
01:34:36 hear and be like, oh, that was a great shot.
01:34:38 You hit on the par three.
01:34:39 Yes.
01:34:40 Seven iron was the right club there.
01:34:41 And I get to stand over the side.
01:34:42 I was like, yeah, you want to hit eight iron.
01:34:43 Get the crowd in the water.
01:34:44 Are you real?
01:34:45 Nowadays, players nowadays are like players are so much different now than when I when
01:34:52 I first started caddy in.
01:34:54 Like you hear so much more we and team and stuff you hear the best players in the world.
01:35:02 That's what it's all about.
01:35:03 Look what happened to Scottie Scheffler after he brought Ted Scott on the bag.
01:35:08 It changed everything.
01:35:10 And people are like, really, did it make that much of difference?
01:35:13 What did he shoot the day after he was in jail when Ted Scott wasn't on the bag?
01:35:18 There you go.
01:35:19 Right.
01:35:20 Yeah.
01:35:21 Makes a difference.
01:35:22 What's it like when the USGA puts out the whole locations and you just stare at the
01:35:26 map of the holes that morning and you're like, yeah, I can't wait.
01:35:28 Thirteen's got a great hole on it.
01:35:31 Let me put it this way.
01:35:32 I might put the pin sheets out on social media when they let them out early.
01:35:38 Yeah.
01:35:39 And when I don't do it during majors, I hear from it.
01:35:42 Oh, yeah.
01:35:43 Like people hit me up and like, yo, how come you not putting in pin sheets out, man?
01:35:46 Yeah.
01:35:47 So, yeah.
01:35:48 Yeah.
01:35:49 I'm not going to lie.
01:35:50 I'm a sicko, too.
01:35:51 I like that.
01:35:52 What's the what's the best piece of advice and then maybe the worst advice that you've
01:35:56 given as a caddy?
01:35:58 Oh, best piece of advice.
01:36:04 I think the best piece of advice one time I gave was I was caddying for Omar Uresti
01:36:11 and he had been a little uptight, like going into a tournament in Vegas and the first round
01:36:17 I could tell he was uptight.
01:36:18 And it was kind of a it was a pro and back in the day.
01:36:21 And I said, give me the scorecard.
01:36:23 He goes, why?
01:36:24 And I go, I'm going to keep score today.
01:36:26 Don't worry about it.
01:36:27 You don't worry about keeping score.
01:36:29 Just entertain this dude, whoever's with us and play.
01:36:32 And then at the end of the round, he was like, what did we shoot?
01:36:36 And I was like, that's right.
01:36:38 That's right.
01:36:39 And we ended up shooting seven under that day.
01:36:41 And when I told him he was like, what?
01:36:42 He didn't even realize that we shot seven under.
01:36:45 Wow.
01:36:46 The worst advice I ever gave was caddying for John E. Morgan.
01:36:52 It still bothers me to this day.
01:36:53 We were in a Monday qualifier to get into Miami and play Doral.
01:36:57 And I had a bad read on on our second to last hole.
01:37:04 And he didn't necessarily see the same thing that I saw.
01:37:07 And so but he went with my read and it was wrong.
01:37:10 And to this day bothers me because I feel like it cost us a chance to get into that
01:37:14 tournament.
01:37:15 Because if we would have got in, we would have done some damage together on the PGA
01:37:21 tour.
01:37:22 Yeah.
01:37:23 Damn.
01:37:24 Or we would have both got arrested and ended up in jail and it would have ended horribly.
01:37:27 But who knows?
01:37:28 That's still fun though.
01:37:29 Yeah.
01:37:30 Would you think it'd be hard to be John Daly's caddy?
01:37:31 Because he's driving around in the car.
01:37:33 He gets used to the cart.
01:37:34 You have to carry the bag and walk.
01:37:36 Plus-
01:37:37 No, you ain't got to carry the bag though.
01:37:38 When you're on the PGA tour champions, here's the cool thing about being on PGA tour champions.
01:37:43 You can put the bag on the back of the cart.
01:37:45 Oh, that's nice.
01:37:46 I'll walk.
01:37:47 I ain't got to carry the bag.
01:37:48 That is nice.
01:37:49 Yeah.
01:37:50 You ride with the bag all day.
01:37:51 I don't care.
01:37:52 I'll get the yardage for you all day.
01:37:53 Tell you what club to pull off the back.
01:37:54 Yeah.
01:37:55 That's huge.
01:37:56 But basically if you're caddy for John Daly, you're just giving him instead of shot selection,
01:37:59 club selection, cigarette selection.
01:38:01 Let's go with a ... This feels like a marble or red right here.
01:38:03 Yeah.
01:38:04 That and be like, "Hey man, finish this Diet Coke because I'm not putting it back in the
01:38:09 bag, bro."
01:38:10 Yeah.
01:38:11 The Diet Cokes get heavy.
01:38:12 Yeah.
01:38:13 Yeah.
01:38:14 I mean, I've known him forever.
01:38:15 He is a really good friend of mine.
01:38:17 I love that dude to death.
01:38:19 I can happily say that I've driven him back to his bus on a few late afternoons and late
01:38:24 evenings because I didn't want him to have to drive.
01:38:27 Yeah.
01:38:28 Yeah.
01:38:29 Yeah.
01:38:30 We've had some good times together, man.
01:38:32 He's good people.
01:38:33 But that's the one thing I always love to tell people about John Daly too, that not
01:38:39 only is he a great dude to be around.
01:38:41 When he's a good friend of yours, if this shit hits the fan, he coming.
01:38:47 And if you want to know who your real friends are, it ain't about when it's perfect.
01:38:51 It ain't about the sunny days and hanging out and having good times.
01:38:54 But it's like, if it hits the fan, you want to find out who your friends are, who coming
01:38:59 when it hits the fan.
01:39:00 Yeah.
01:39:01 Yeah.
01:39:02 He's one of those dudes.
01:39:03 He's coming.
01:39:04 Yeah.
01:39:05 All right.
01:39:06 So in terms of this US Open, is there anyone besides Scotty Scheffler that you've looked
01:39:09 at and you're like, Hey, this guy is playing really well, or this matches up well with
01:39:14 Pinehurst?
01:39:16 Just because I agree with you.
01:39:18 No one can really touch Scotty right now, but if you're trying to find other options,
01:39:22 there's got to be a couple of guys out there because it does.
01:39:25 It feels like, you know, peak Tiger Woods where when Tiger was, you know, even money
01:39:31 against the field or minus one,
01:39:33 For everybody.
01:39:34 Yeah.
01:39:35 Like now it's all prop vet.
01:39:36 Right.
01:39:37 That's it.
01:39:38 Right.
01:39:39 I'm not going to lie to you because it's got to be.
01:39:40 Sheffler messes it up for everybody.
01:39:43 Yeah.
01:39:44 It's tough to, especially with the guys coming from live that we haven't seen a whole lot.
01:39:49 You wonder like how much a guy like John Rom, like this is one of those show me opportunities
01:39:58 for John Rom.
01:39:59 I think, I mean, this is one of those golf course that there's never a wrong time to
01:40:05 hit it long and straight.
01:40:08 Right.
01:40:09 And so Colin Morikawa is someone whose game is trending in a really good direction.
01:40:16 I thought he might have a little drop off him and Xander after, especially after the
01:40:22 PGA championship.
01:40:23 Yeah.
01:40:24 But it doesn't, it doesn't seem like he's dropped off a lot.
01:40:28 And look, we, you guys know, like golf is cyclical.
01:40:33 Everything is waves except for Scotty Sheffler.
01:40:35 It seems like right now.
01:40:37 Right.
01:40:38 Like when dudes, when really top golfers start playing well, they play well for a while,
01:40:44 three to six months.
01:40:45 It's like, Oh, it's all like donkey Kong.
01:40:47 This dude's never going to miss.
01:40:48 And then after like three or six months, they start missing all the time.
01:40:51 And you're like, damn, that dude just fell off.
01:40:53 And then it's the next guy.
01:40:55 And I feel like kind of Colin Morikawa is riding a wave right now where this is a spot
01:41:00 that might set up pretty good for him.
01:41:03 His putter scares me a little bit, you know?
01:41:06 And that's where Scotty just because his ball striking is so good.
01:41:11 He doesn't have to be a great putter.
01:41:12 Yeah.
01:41:13 But it's funny with Scotty.
01:41:14 Like when, when it's really on the line and he has that 12 footer to save par must make
01:41:20 to keep that two shot bang dead center, perfect speed.
01:41:24 And he's got that little fist, the little Scotty fist pump.
01:41:27 We call it vanilla bitch.
01:41:28 Like I don't want to be showing too hard.
01:41:34 I want to show up my competition here.
01:41:36 I'll just beat them every week.
01:41:38 I don't want to be, you know what I mean?
01:41:39 I don't, you know, as a Christian pride is one of the seven, I don't want to be showing
01:41:46 off too hard.
01:41:47 Yeah.
01:41:48 Yeah.
01:41:49 But that's his game.
01:41:50 Like his hardcore like that.
01:41:51 So I don't know, man.
01:41:55 What about the mentality of going into an event like the U S open where you know that they
01:41:59 are specifically making the course difficult to the point where it could be a guy's minus
01:42:05 one to win it or plus one to win it.
01:42:08 Is that like the psychology of going into a tournament like that where you know the
01:42:13 course is going to be so much harder than everything else.
01:42:15 What, how does that work for the player?
01:42:17 And the caddies earned their money then too.
01:42:20 Yeah.
01:42:21 Cause there's many times, listen, and you guys been around enough athletes to understand
01:42:26 this too.
01:42:27 They're going to tell you in the beginning, no man, it's cool.
01:42:29 Just laid back.
01:42:30 I'm going to be chill.
01:42:31 Like we're just playing ping pong.
01:42:32 I don't even care if I win.
01:42:34 And as soon as the game starts, that's out the window.
01:42:37 You can kiss my ass is on now.
01:42:40 Ah, Hey, I thought we was going to be chill.
01:42:43 And that's as a great, if you're a really good caddy, you're reminding your guy that
01:42:48 all the time at the U S open bogeys won't kill us.
01:42:54 And the other thing you're telling your dude is a everybody else's effing up too,
01:42:59 bro.
01:43:00 Relax.
01:43:01 Take it easy.
01:43:02 We ain't the only ones.
01:43:03 Cause that's what happens.
01:43:04 Golfers, they get in their own bubble so hard sometimes.
01:43:08 And so deep that they're like, I'm the only guy out here screwing this up.
01:43:13 This is bull crap.
01:43:14 And then as a caddy, you got to be like, come here, come here, look at the scoreboard.
01:43:20 You see your name is still up there.
01:43:21 You know why our name is still up there?
01:43:22 Cause we ain't the only one effort up.
01:43:24 Relax.
01:43:25 We got this.
01:43:26 Let's play the next hole.
01:43:27 So who do you think, who are the best caddies in the game right now?
01:43:29 Do you have like a top five?
01:43:32 No, but here's the thing.
01:43:36 Here's why it's hard to do that.
01:43:38 We jokingly made a, like I had a joke with one of the caddies cause every time I'd see
01:43:43 him I was like, Hey man, you still in the top 50 of caddies.
01:43:45 He was like, nah, this week I fell out.
01:43:48 Right.
01:43:49 When you're a caddy on the PGA tour, what makes you a great caddy is being able to give
01:43:54 the player you're caddying for what that player needs.
01:43:57 Now if let's say Xander Shoffla's caddy went to caddy for someone else, which he's, I mean,
01:44:04 he's not going to do that.
01:44:06 Right.
01:44:07 Cause they're, they're good friends too, but he can't caddy the same for Xander that he's
01:44:11 caddying for somebody else.
01:44:13 Like Ted Scott is not doing the same stuff for Scotty that he did for Bubba Watson.
01:44:21 Because they don't need the same things.
01:44:24 So like who are some of the best caddies out there?
01:44:26 So I mean, you look at like Bones, right?
01:44:28 When he was caddying for Justin Thomas, he wasn't doing the same stuff for Justin Thomas
01:44:32 that he did for Phil Mickelson.
01:44:34 Would Phil Mickelson have been the golfer that he was without bones?
01:44:39 I'm going to say hell no.
01:44:41 No, there's no way.
01:44:43 But does that make Bones like one of the best caddies out on tour?
01:44:47 You know, even though he's not working right now.
01:44:51 I don't know because every caddy has to give something different depending on what that
01:44:58 player needs.
01:44:59 So I think that's, if you want to see what great caddies are, it's like in the moment,
01:45:04 in the moment, did this guy say exactly what his player needed him to say?
01:45:09 Like you look at a guy like Michael Grellar and Jordan Spieth, would Jordan be the player
01:45:13 that he is without Michael Grellar being the caddy that he was for Jordan?
01:45:18 I would venture to say absolutely not.
01:45:21 It's why they have stayed together for so long.
01:45:23 So it's like, there are all the caddies on the PGA Tour.
01:45:29 The reason that they're out there is because of how good they are in the moments that they're
01:45:36 needed most.
01:45:37 Yeah.
01:45:38 And they mess up just like players do.
01:45:39 One of the greatest lines, Mark Wilson won the Honda one year after his caddy accidentally
01:45:47 got him a two stroke penalty.
01:45:49 And his caddy was so shook up.
01:45:50 I mean, Chris Jones, his name is, his caddy nickname is Crispy.
01:45:56 And Crispy, after the round was just inconsolable.
01:46:00 And Mark then during the round looked at him and said, "Hey man, I'm going to mess up a
01:46:07 lot more than you.
01:46:08 It's okay.
01:46:09 We're going to get through this."
01:46:10 And that was on a Thursday and they won that tournament that week.
01:46:14 And it was one of the coolest things ever.
01:46:16 Yeah, that is very cool.
01:46:19 This has been awesome, Michael.
01:46:20 I have a couple last questions.
01:46:23 One of the last questions, a rollback question, rhoback.com, promo code take 20% off your
01:46:27 first purchase.
01:46:28 Q-Zips, polos, hoodies, joggers, shorts, great golf attire.
01:46:31 I was wearing a rollback polo yesterday when we were out.
01:46:35 Rollback.com, promo code take.
01:46:37 Does Tiger Woods have any chance of finishing top 20?
01:46:43 This might be the US Open course that he does.
01:46:49 Are you saying that to me like, "Oh, you're saying there's a chance."
01:46:52 Yeah.
01:46:53 We want him to be in the mix.
01:46:55 Exactly.
01:46:56 If you're saying it in that sense, is there a chance?
01:47:00 Yes, because this is probably of all the US Open venues, this might be the easiest of
01:47:05 the walks.
01:47:06 Okay.
01:47:07 And that's what it takes for Tiger now.
01:47:09 That's part of the issue.
01:47:11 It ain't the course, it's the walks and the stances.
01:47:15 So when he misses a fairway at Pinehurst, he's going to be in native area, but he's
01:47:20 not going to have some jacked up stance like he would have at the PGA Championship, like
01:47:26 he did at the Masters.
01:47:28 That's the problem.
01:47:29 Now, it's also a sand-based course.
01:47:31 So if they get really bad weather and the course gets soft, then of course it's going
01:47:35 to be an issue.
01:47:36 But this week too, the temperature looks like it's going to be hot.
01:47:40 Great for Tiger Woods in his back.
01:47:42 So if he keeps it in play, fairways and greens, yeah, he can hit the shots.
01:47:50 So Tiger Woods could win the US Open.
01:47:52 No, take it easy, bro.
01:47:54 Relax.
01:47:55 I didn't say that.
01:47:56 Now there you go.
01:47:57 But maybe.
01:47:58 Now you're being media.
01:47:59 But maybe.
01:48:00 See?
01:48:01 Don't do that.
01:48:02 That's shocking.
01:48:03 Come on and say that.
01:48:04 That's a bold claim.
01:48:05 This is good for the headline.
01:48:06 Yeah.
01:48:07 Michael Collins.
01:48:08 Michael Collins says Tiger Woods can win the US Open this year.
01:48:11 No, no, it didn't.
01:48:12 That ain't what I said, man.
01:48:14 What about Max Homa?
01:48:15 Can Max Homa win the US Open?
01:48:19 This year.
01:48:21 Great caddy.
01:48:22 Joe's a great caddy.
01:48:23 Joe's a great caddy.
01:48:24 Oh man, Griner, man.
01:48:25 Joe Griner.
01:48:26 Another one.
01:48:27 That's the thing.
01:48:28 So him and Max are such an amazing team together.
01:48:34 You know what?
01:48:35 Yeah.
01:48:36 I know a lot of people thought LA was the spot for him and stuff.
01:48:41 And winning a home game in golf is impossible.
01:48:43 Yeah.
01:48:44 It's just too much.
01:48:45 Like that kind of internal pressure that you put on yourself with all the people that you
01:48:49 know are there for you.
01:48:50 But somewhere like Pinehurst, if they ain't that many cousins and nephews coming out from
01:48:54 California, be like, hey, you want to walk around 20 miles past children of the corn
01:48:58 in the middle of nowhere?
01:48:59 Nah, we good.
01:49:00 We'll stay here in LA.
01:49:02 So if Max's putter is good, that's what it'll be for him this week.
01:49:08 Yeah.
01:49:09 Okay.
01:49:10 So what do you have to win?
01:49:11 Not named Scotty Shelford.
01:49:12 Do you have a pick?
01:49:13 You can't do Scotty.
01:49:14 So you're saying Scotty, it's just Scotty.
01:49:17 Yeah.
01:49:18 Listen, went back in the day when it was like that too with Tiger and you would be like
01:49:24 Tiger or the field.
01:49:25 How many people were like, Oh, it's the field.
01:49:27 Yeah, no, you're right.
01:49:29 You're right.
01:49:30 Yeah.
01:49:31 It's dead, man.
01:49:32 It's how, I don't know how you pick against Scotty.
01:49:35 The other thing about this year now, because of what happened at the PGA, what are we going
01:49:41 to say if Scotty wins the masters, the U S open and the open championship.
01:49:46 And the reason that he didn't win the PGA was because of what happened on Friday.
01:49:51 Well, the officer's pants got destroyed.
01:49:54 I don't know if you saw the picture.
01:49:55 It was, it was an ugly scene.
01:49:56 His pants are around his ankles all right.
01:49:57 His pants, the whole Louisville police department's pants are around their ankles.
01:50:02 Yeah.
01:50:03 That's a playbook.
01:50:04 How to beat Scotty Shelford.
01:50:05 Yeah.
01:50:06 Mayberry RFD hit him up before the round.
01:50:09 Yeah.
01:50:10 That's going to be what happens.
01:50:11 Like going into the open championship, somebody is going to make a call to TSA over there
01:50:15 and be like, yo, this dude is bringing in paraphernalia.
01:50:18 Yeah.
01:50:19 Yeah.
01:50:20 He went hunting before.
01:50:21 You know what that means?
01:50:22 Might not want to let him in.
01:50:23 Search him good.
01:50:24 Yeah.
01:50:25 Yeah.
01:50:26 He's from Texas.
01:50:27 Has a gun.
01:50:28 Maybe check him out.
01:50:29 Do a double check.
01:50:30 Do a double check.
01:50:31 Um, all right.
01:50:32 Well, Michael, this has been awesome, man.
01:50:34 We really appreciate it.
01:50:35 Uh, you do great stuff and uh, we're excited to watch some golf this weekend.
01:50:39 Hey, I, I'm really excited.
01:50:41 Thanks you guys for having me on, man.
01:50:42 I've been wanting to be on y'all show for a while, dude.
01:50:46 So this, this means a lot for me to be able to come on and hang out with you guys.
01:50:50 So anytime, bro, anytime we got, we got to get you in person and play around with you.
01:50:54 Yeah.
01:50:55 You could get us, you could get in our head.
01:50:56 You could tell us psychology of the golf game.
01:50:58 Yeah.
01:50:59 You could do everything.
01:51:00 Actually, that'd be funny.
01:51:01 You did everything wrong.
01:51:02 Like you tried to fuck us up the most.
01:51:03 Yeah.
01:51:04 I might make us good.
01:51:06 That is not a problem.
01:51:07 You can do that.
01:51:08 You know, you can do that on an interview Saturday or even like when serious sex, then
01:51:13 used to make me do pre round interviews and I was like, I'm not doing that.
01:51:17 Cause you asked the guy the wrong question and you're in his head and then the next time
01:51:21 he sees you, he's like, I ain't talking to you ever again.
01:51:23 So getting in golfer's heads is easy.
01:51:25 It ain't a problem.
01:51:26 Yeah.
01:51:27 Love it.
01:51:28 All right.
01:51:29 Well, thanks so much, man.
01:51:30 Appreciate it.
01:51:31 And uh, we'll hopefully see you soon.
01:51:32 Absolutely.
01:51:33 Thank you.
01:51:34 Thanks for having me.

01:53:15 And now here's Kevin Love.
01:53:16 Okay, we now welcome on very special guest, recurring guest.
01:53:21 It is 16 year NBA pro Kevin Love.
01:53:27 Kevin, let's start with that.
01:53:29 16 years, that weird to say out loud because you've, you've done the gray hair.
01:53:33 I'm graying as well.
01:53:35 16 years.
01:53:37 That's a crazy amount of time.
01:53:39 Is it weird to be like, holy shit, this has been 16 years?
01:53:42 It is.
01:53:43 And I can remember, man, it was, uh, cause Kobe came into the league at 17.
01:53:46 I believe that his parents actually had to sign his contract at the time.
01:53:52 Uh, cause you know, he wasn't legally obligated to do so.
01:53:56 So I remember when he was 34, 35 years old, uh, you know, he looked at me and was like,
01:54:02 Hey love, I've been in the league half my life.
01:54:05 And that always stuck with me.
01:54:06 Like he saw LeBron had just done that.
01:54:09 You had seen in football that Tom Brady had done it.
01:54:12 So that had always stuck with me.
01:54:13 So when I hear that I've been in the league 16 years, I came in at 19, got drafted at
01:54:18 19 back in 2008.
01:54:20 Um, it's wild.
01:54:22 Like going into year 17, I'm signed through that, uh, with the heat.
01:54:25 And I can hope to continue to keep going.
01:54:27 But that goal for me has always been to say, be able to say I've played half my life in
01:54:31 the NBA.
01:54:32 But I'm getting old.
01:54:33 That gray hair is really, I mean, people, you know, message me, there'll be guys that,
01:54:38 uh, you know, on the other side now, which is funny coming in from people like Richard
01:54:42 Jefferson, who doesn't have any hair, but he's like, man, those grays really come out
01:54:47 on TV.
01:54:48 It like really, really sticks out and ages you.
01:54:51 Yeah.
01:54:52 You should do like a little makeover this off season.
01:54:53 Just remind people like you're still young.
01:54:55 Maybe go full bleach like Eminem.
01:54:56 Ooh, full bleach would be good.
01:54:59 But I always thought like, you know, I always saw, I remember there's like the touch of
01:55:02 gray where like the guy that's young and hungry has like the full black jet hair.
01:55:07 And then the older dude has the full gray hair.
01:55:09 Then they merge them.
01:55:11 I feel like there's something there that could be had.
01:55:13 Maybe you guys can, yeah.
01:55:14 Oh, I get in the right direction.
01:55:16 You can go Paulie Walnuts.
01:55:17 Just get the wings on either side.
01:55:19 That would look strong.
01:55:20 Yeah.
01:55:21 Yeah.
01:55:22 Very strong.
01:55:23 I mean, I do from time to time we'll touch it up.
01:55:26 But I respect you for not like your, you know, representation matters.
01:55:30 So seeing you out there running around on the court with gray hair, it helps.
01:55:34 Yeah.
01:55:35 Someday I want to grow up and do that.
01:55:38 The few, the proud.
01:55:39 No question.
01:55:40 Yeah.
01:55:41 Sweet, sweet.
01:55:42 You're not going to retire, right?
01:55:43 We can officially, you're officially not going to retire.
01:55:44 I hope not.
01:55:45 No, Bam.
01:55:46 Actually, Bam on the bio in our Boston series, our only series.
01:55:53 Had said something in the media about, oh, you know, Kevin said he doesn't have much
01:55:57 time left and that he could be on his way out.
01:56:01 So that kind of led to a lot of questions of me possibly retiring, but I'm a, you know,
01:56:08 to the wheels fall off.
01:56:09 I'm going to make this thing go as long as I possibly can.
01:56:11 So 16 headed into 17 for a kid from Lake Oswego, Oregon.
01:56:16 Not too bad.
01:56:17 Yeah.
01:56:18 Pretty good.
01:56:19 What was it like being in year 16 in Miami?
01:56:21 Because I think a lot of people think Miami, great time, kind of an easy lifestyle, but
01:56:25 playing for the heat, they do like weigh-ins and stuff, right?
01:56:28 They have, they have like a lot of structure around their program.
01:56:31 It was that, is that easy for you to translate into and to kind of fit in there as an older
01:56:35 guy that's established yourself in the league?
01:56:37 It really did.
01:56:38 And it was, you know, it was easy to fit in, in terms of it being very refreshing for somebody
01:56:43 like me.
01:56:44 Coach Spoh, grew up in Portland, Oregon.
01:56:46 He's somebody that I've, you know, watched and admired from afar.
01:56:50 Somebody that back in 2008, they had the second pick.
01:56:52 I ended up being the fifth pick that, you know, I was kind of hoping that there was
01:56:55 a way I could play myself into that.
01:56:58 It ended up being, you know, Michael Beasley.
01:57:02 And then it was OJ Mayo, the third pick, fourth pick, Russ, and then myself.
01:57:06 But I'd always looked at the heat as a team that, you know, I potentially like to play
01:57:12 for.
01:57:13 So, you know, the ethos of, they talk about culture all the time, but just championship
01:57:17 type mentality, attention to detail, you know, coming every game, trying to work no matter
01:57:21 who's in, who's out.
01:57:22 You know, we're going to give ourselves an opportunity in preparation to win.
01:57:28 So as far as like falling in love with the game again, there's been different stages
01:57:31 in my career where I felt that has happened.
01:57:34 When I first got to Miami last year, I really did feel that.
01:57:37 I loved not only being in the city, being around the fans, you know, having my family
01:57:43 out there with me, but, you know, playing for such a storied franchise that only has
01:57:48 one thing on their mind and that's to win games and to win championships.
01:57:51 That was, you know, just refreshing being around that every single day and especially
01:57:56 having that full year from training camp all the way on through the playoffs this year
01:58:00 was definitely special.
01:58:01 Yeah.
01:58:02 So you mentioned the one playoff series this year.
01:58:04 Obviously last year was, you guys went deep all the way to the NBA finals, but the Celtics,
01:58:10 the battles that have happened, you know, that team, well, they're in the finals now.
01:58:15 What, what is it about the Celtics that they do so well or different versus everyone else
01:58:20 that has them on the cusp of winning an NBA title?
01:58:23 Well they turned and this is no disrespect to those two guys because they meant so much
01:58:27 to them, but you know, drew holiday and Derek white, you had Marcus Martin, Robert Williams
01:58:34 turned into those two guys.
01:58:36 I mean, excuse me, poor Zingas.
01:58:39 And then you have, and then you have Derek white and drew holiday as their X factors.
01:58:43 Those two guys being your X factors, it's just, they do everything right all the time.
01:58:50 I mean, game two was unbelievable to watch drew operate.
01:58:53 Obviously I've, I'm a fan of his being a UCLA guy, a guy that I played against, you know,
01:58:58 a lot in my career and also growing up having watched him Campbell hall guy in Los Angeles.
01:59:03 So to see him go 11 for 14 and have 26 and 11 in game two was, it just shows you how
01:59:12 deep that their team is.
01:59:13 I think that he is, drew has continued to be overlooked.
01:59:18 Not just in this series, but throughout his entire career as well.
01:59:22 Like he could have been a perennial all-star guy that could have asked for more.
01:59:27 But he's certainly gone throughout his career in the right way.
01:59:31 Derek white is somebody who just continues to impress.
01:59:34 He lit us up in the first round and you know, when other guys, you know, weren't having
01:59:40 great games or they weren't shooting well, or for Zingas went out in our series that,
01:59:45 you know, he was able to step up and play extremely well.
01:59:49 But back to, you know, Marcus Martin, Robert Williams becoming drew and poor Zingas, they
01:59:54 just unlock so much for them.
01:59:56 And you have a guy that's seven, three, and that can stretch the floor and then allow,
02:00:00 you know, Brown and Tatum to operate how they want.
02:00:05 It's just impossible to guard.
02:00:07 And they just throw so many different types of looks at you.
02:00:11 And it's, it's tough.
02:00:13 It's why they've been the best team all year with the best record.
02:00:15 Yeah.
02:00:16 Well, you guys, you guys showed the roadmap of how to beat the Celtics.
02:00:19 You just don't miss threes.
02:00:21 Just hit every three point shot.
02:00:22 Do you think that the Maverick should try that?
02:00:24 They should probably try that.
02:00:25 I mean, what game one, I think they were, what did they shoot six for 26 and then maybe
02:00:30 seven for 27 in game two.
02:00:34 Maybe I have that flip flop, but they haven't been shooting the ball well from three.
02:00:36 I mean, it's everybody knows that this game three is going to be the series, but they're
02:00:42 a team that they always talk about.
02:00:44 Missoula talks about playing the math game.
02:00:46 They're going to get their threes up.
02:00:48 They're going to continue to put guys on the island and then on defense, they're going
02:00:50 to switch one through five and try to force you to not get those threes.
02:00:54 They're going to try to funnel you towards the hoop, funny towards forfeit funny towards
02:00:58 poor Zingas.
02:00:59 They're going to switch.
02:01:00 They have a big lineup.
02:01:01 You know, it's tough to get a lot of, you know, shots off of them because they're crashing
02:01:07 from the three point line and you have to hope that you're going to get transition threes
02:01:11 and easy transition shots against them because they find so many ways to punish you on both
02:01:16 sides of the ball.
02:01:17 But if you don't generate enough threes and make enough threes, you won't beat them.
02:01:20 Yeah.
02:01:21 Do role players actually play better at home?
02:01:23 Um, yeah, I think, uh, I mean, Jaden Hardy was the only one that really did anything
02:01:30 for Dallas in game one.
02:01:32 I think he had what, 13 points and in game two, they just, there wasn't really, you know,
02:01:37 much help from that side.
02:01:40 But then it's funny to talk about role players, six man, like you have poor Zingas that comes
02:01:44 out and hits his first few shots, ends up getting 20 points in limited minutes.
02:01:48 I mean, that's, it just shows you how good of a team that Boston is, but they play, they
02:01:52 play well at home.
02:01:53 Um, I think Dallas will certainly do the same.
02:01:57 I think they'll shoot better.
02:01:58 I think they'll get more from, from their X factors.
02:02:00 They were well balanced in game two throughout their starting lineup.
02:02:02 I think everybody scored double figures, but you know, they're going to need more to beat
02:02:08 this team.
02:02:09 Game one was certainly ugly.
02:02:11 Game two, um, was, you know, better in terms of, you know, closer score and they gave them,
02:02:18 uh, it was a lot more competitive game, but game three, there's certain things that need
02:02:22 to happen as we talked about, but my boy Kyrie Irving really has to step up and get great.
02:02:27 I was going to ask that because you obviously know Kyrie very well, want a title with him.
02:02:31 Like what do you think it's as easy as like he had two bad games and he can just flip
02:02:35 the switch and like, you know, he's got to, because he does have to play better.
02:02:39 You know, going into this series, the Celtics are the better team overall.
02:02:44 If Luke and Kyrie can play out of their mind, they have a five years chance.
02:02:47 But right now Kyrie just hasn't played well.
02:02:50 He hasn't played well and what was he six for 19 and then seven for 18 in game two.
02:02:55 You know, it's, it's, it's not only about hitting shots.
02:02:57 He needs to, you know, when they come to double him or they switch off onto him, he has to
02:03:02 continue to create.
02:03:03 Like I was waiting in all the series leading up to the finals.
02:03:07 You always saw, he kind of just let the game come to him in the first half and the second
02:03:10 half he exploded.
02:03:11 And then, so I was just sitting there the first two games waiting for it, waiting for
02:03:14 it, waiting for it.
02:03:15 And yeah, he did have two bad games.
02:03:18 Obviously he has the history there in Boston.
02:03:19 I know he wants to prove himself and I don't care what he says.
02:03:22 He doesn't care.
02:03:24 Maybe he likes those guys on that team, but he doesn't care for the city.
02:03:29 Obviously to, you know, like we said, tomorrow game three is, is, is the series.
02:03:33 They have to win that one.
02:03:34 But in order for that to happen, Kyrie has to be himself.
02:03:36 And he just wasn't in those first two games.
02:03:38 It's as simple as that.
02:03:39 His shot making and his, you know, leadership this year has taken such a, a huge stride
02:03:46 and, and, and really taking that team to the next level.
02:03:48 But it has to be that Batman and Robin with, with him and Luca.
02:03:51 Luca has again, more than done his part and he's been excellent in these playoffs.
02:03:55 And yeah, he needs, he needs Kyrie to be his wingman.
02:03:59 Yeah.
02:04:00 Luca might be the best player in the world right now.
02:04:01 Do you have a top five?
02:04:03 Ooh, a top five in the world?
02:04:06 Yeah.
02:04:07 Yeah.
02:04:08 Top five in the world.
02:04:10 It's very important.
02:04:11 Joker is.
02:04:12 Yeah.
02:04:13 Joker is, but I'm always like all things considered.
02:04:14 Right.
02:04:15 I think, I think, you know, Joker is up there.
02:04:18 Certainly Luca, SGA and Bede.
02:04:23 Giannis.
02:04:24 Giannis.
02:04:25 I mean, like in that health plays a factor too.
02:04:29 So like Joel, when he's at in peak form and he's feeling good, like if he was healthy
02:04:34 throughout the playoffs, I believe that they, they do beat the Knicks, but then the Knicks,
02:04:37 it's like they have guys banged up.
02:04:39 Randall's out.
02:04:40 So everyone gets hurt.
02:04:41 With teams as well.
02:04:42 Everybody gets, I mean, look at us.
02:04:43 Jimmy was out.
02:04:44 Terry Rozier was out.
02:04:46 So, you know, I think that that, that health plays a big part in all that, but top, top
02:04:51 five.
02:04:52 Yeah.
02:04:53 I'd probably say those guys.
02:04:54 Good answer.
02:04:55 Good top five.
02:04:56 Yeah.
02:04:57 And I mean, maybe not in that order, but it's, it's pretty close.
02:05:01 Yeah.
02:05:02 It's definitely those five though.
02:05:03 Yeah.
02:05:04 Go ahead.
02:05:05 Did you watch the, the end of the Timberwolves Maverick series when Rudy Goberio was trying
02:05:09 to play defense on, on Luca and you were like, I did that against Steph Curry.
02:05:13 I did.
02:05:14 I didn't say exactly that when Rudy was guarding him, but I, uh, I don't know.
02:05:21 I was kind of torn on how I felt about, you know, if I wanted the Timberwolves to, to
02:05:27 win or not, because I do like the way how the, you know, the, the way that their team
02:05:32 is built, Anthony Edwards, how can you not enjoy watching him and love watching him play
02:05:36 and as a competitor, um, you know, they're playing different ways.
02:05:40 I like how Nas, Reed, Jay McDaniels, all those guys play.
02:05:44 But yeah, I think you get put on that Island by somebody like Luca.
02:05:48 It's like I said, I just, you know, we've gone over that play in 2016, probably 200
02:05:53 times within the, uh, film sessions, the scout reports, the walkthrough.
02:05:58 So, you know, when I switched out onto Steph during that possession, I kind of just try
02:06:02 to keep my feet down, force him into a tough shot and listen, he just missed the shot.
02:06:06 Everybody said, Oh, this is great.
02:06:07 Stop.
02:06:08 He kept his feet down, but he just missed the shot.
02:06:09 Yeah.
02:06:10 Are you locked?
02:06:11 Come on.
02:06:12 Yeah.
02:06:13 I'm locked.
02:06:14 I'm locked.
02:06:15 I'm locked.
02:06:16 I'm locked.
02:06:17 But at the end of the day, like what do you, if you're Rudy go bear on any guard trying
02:06:20 to switch out, he was on an Island.
02:06:22 I don't know what they were, what they were doing, where the help was, why they switched
02:06:25 off.
02:06:26 But I think, I don't know if it was McDaniels or who it was that they had gotten a switch.
02:06:30 And when you slow it down, you had kind of seen his face just like, Oh man, shit, here
02:06:35 we go again.
02:06:36 Yeah.
02:06:37 And that was it.
02:06:38 Yeah.
02:06:39 Uh, all right.
02:06:40 So you're kind of like the Mavericks in that locker room right now.
02:06:42 Cause you obviously famously, you were on a team that was down two games.
02:06:46 You were down three, one in the series against the warriors.
02:06:49 I know there's the whole, we can't panic, but what is it actually like?
02:06:53 Is there, is there a nervous energy of like, we're, we're up against it right now?
02:06:59 For sure.
02:07:00 And I think that's also healthy, right?
02:07:03 You it's important to you.
02:07:04 You want to feel like, all right, our backs up against the wall.
02:07:07 And, you know, I've been on teams where not only 16, but even, you know, last year when
02:07:13 everybody counted us out and we made that finals run, our backs were against the wall.
02:07:18 And we felt like that.
02:07:19 We felt like, you know, it's just going to be us.
02:07:21 We have to step up, we have to play better, but we can also, especially at home, you know,
02:07:26 play into our crowd.
02:07:27 We're going to need them.
02:07:28 It does matter.
02:07:29 Home court advantage does matter.
02:07:32 But everybody has to play their best.
02:07:33 And I think in some ways you also have to play like there's, there's nothing to lose
02:07:37 at the same time.
02:07:38 You have to play free because, you know, you can't go out there and be, be shooting under
02:07:43 30% from three and expect to win.
02:07:46 So you have to be loose.
02:07:47 You have to be free.
02:07:48 And I think speaking of Kyrie Irving too, I think he has to, you know, cause he's done
02:07:52 it all year, but it's been a real leader for this team and he's going to have to come out
02:07:58 tomorrow and show them the way.
02:08:00 Cause he's, he's won a championship.
02:08:01 He knows what it takes.
02:08:02 He's played extremely well in the finals a few times.
02:08:08 And I think he's going to be the one that's going to have to set the tone for him.
02:08:11 But I do think there's, you know, the healthy emotions and the appropriate fear of, Hey,
02:08:17 if we don't win this game, you know, this is probably it.
02:08:21 I think the Celtics also know, and Missoula also know like, Hey, we're going to, this
02:08:25 is going to be their haymaker tomorrow that they're going to throw.
02:08:27 And we have to withstand that.
02:08:28 But I know that Jason Kittle have him ready for tomorrow.
02:08:31 And on the reverse side, I mean, you've been in series where you're up to, Oh, do you find
02:08:37 yourself having like, like, ah, we aren't playing with the same urgency because it does
02:08:41 feel like that's the path here for the Mavs.
02:08:43 They obviously have to win game three.
02:08:45 And then you're hoping that game four is tight and you can go from there because there always
02:08:50 does feel that psychology of game three, going back home, other teams up to, Oh, maybe they're
02:08:56 not playing with the type of focus and energy that they should have.
02:08:59 Yeah.
02:09:00 I think it's, you know, some people's natural instinct is to relax or to think it, it comes,
02:09:07 I shouldn't say easy, but, you know, our, our, our route here to, you know, potentially
02:09:13 winning a game three, which could be a series and championship deciding game, you know,
02:09:20 just to pull it back a little bit is probably all that, you know, a team like Dallas needs
02:09:26 to, you know, use their crowd to use the city, to use everybody, you know, stepping up and
02:09:31 playing well to their advantage.
02:09:33 But I do believe that there is something certainly to that when you, when you talk about, you
02:09:40 know, the psychology of the game, you see that happen a lot guys, just, it's a natural
02:09:44 instinct just to relax.
02:09:45 All right, we're up to, Oh, we have some breathing room, but I do believe that, you know, Tatum
02:09:49 Brown for the guys that have been there a while are going to make sure that, that isn't
02:09:55 the case, but until you actually get out there and lace them up and toss the ball up, you
02:09:58 just never know.
02:09:59 Yeah.
02:10:00 Yeah.
02:10:01 It's going to be interesting.
02:10:02 And you were talking about Kyrie's leadership ability that he has this year or seems to
02:10:05 have, he seems like he's kind of matured a whole lot this season.
02:10:09 We're saying that actually he, he needs to get back to the, like the wild Kyrie, like
02:10:13 did completely.
02:10:14 At least for this series.
02:10:15 Yeah.
02:10:16 Just go on hinge, bring the stage out.
02:10:17 Just, you know, bring the, bring the walking stick in.
02:10:20 Like if you do that and change that dynamic, say the earth is flat again, I think we might
02:10:24 have a 40 point game on Kyrie.
02:10:26 Yeah.
02:10:27 I like that.
02:10:28 He absolutely should.
02:10:29 But when you were playing with him, he might've been just a different guy because you, you
02:10:31 know, you mature as you get older, it's kind of human nature.
02:10:34 Was he, is he a vocal leader?
02:10:36 Do you know about him being like a very vocal presence in the locker room at shoot around
02:10:40 or did he like keep to himself most often?
02:10:43 Most often he kept to himself.
02:10:47 But I think to his point, he knew when, when, when he spoke up or when he spoke up that,
02:10:54 which wasn't often that guys were going to listen, cause you know, he kind of, you know,
02:10:59 would catch you off guard when he did that.
02:11:00 So you wanted to, you know, kind of hang on his every word because he knew that it must've
02:11:07 really been important to him for him to say something.
02:11:09 But I think he always, at least when he was around us, led by example and was one of those
02:11:14 guys that was just incredible to, to, to play with and to watch.
02:11:19 I tell everybody all the time, I've never seen a better, first of all, people talk about
02:11:24 handle, talk about game.
02:11:27 I think everybody says it now, but we looked at him and said, man, if he was six, five
02:11:31 or six, six, he'd be, you know, Kobe.
02:11:34 And he already is, you know, so skilled.
02:11:35 He has a crazy post up game, handle, shot selection, best under the rim finisher that
02:11:42 I've ever seen.
02:11:43 And in a five on five type of situation or scenario in practice, I've never seen anybody
02:11:48 better.
02:11:49 I've never seen anybody better than Kyrie Irving.
02:11:51 Yeah.
02:11:52 So a question about coaching during the finals or the playoffs in general, has there been
02:11:57 a specific moment where one of your coaches gave you guys a adjustment that like unlocked
02:12:04 everything?
02:12:05 Cause I never know.
02:12:06 I see it.
02:12:07 You see adjustments throughout the series, but I never know how much it's overrated or
02:12:11 it's underrated.
02:12:12 If, if the coaching in a series game to game really does get a team like, Oh, that once
02:12:18 they made this switch, it just changed everything.
02:12:20 Yeah.
02:12:21 I think now when you have all these advanced analytics and you have numbers that tell a
02:12:27 story, there certainly are more adjustments to be made, but you know, it's such a, you
02:12:35 know, a small ball and switching type of league now that you have to find ways to, you know,
02:12:41 take advantage of that.
02:12:43 You know, as well as, you know, understand what, where and what the other team, where
02:12:49 they're getting their best, you know, where they're functioning at their best and where
02:12:53 they're getting their most points per possession, you know, depending on where we're sending
02:12:56 a guy, are we sending help?
02:12:58 Are we going to double team them?
02:12:59 Are we going to trap them?
02:13:00 Are we going to send the low man?
02:13:01 I mean, there's so many different things depending on the matchup that dictate what those, you
02:13:10 know, different changes are going to be throughout the course of a game, the course of a series
02:13:17 could be a lineup change.
02:13:19 There's just so many different decisions that have to be made throughout the course of a
02:13:24 seven game series.
02:13:25 And I'm sure there's one coming here in game three.
02:13:29 What that is.
02:13:30 I don't know.
02:13:31 I think Boston obviously is going to run it back and play the same way, but Jason kid
02:13:33 is going to find a way to, you know, unlock them on the offensive end, which is, you know,
02:13:40 going to be huge for them in game three.
02:13:41 Yeah.
02:13:42 I mean, he already tried the Jalen Brown is the best team or player on the Celtics.
02:13:45 Yeah.
02:13:46 Do you think that was a little desperate?
02:13:49 Because it's like it was gay after game one.
02:13:51 And also those guys, we were, we were joking on, on Sunday.
02:13:55 Like it feels like it was maybe like three or four years too late to do that because
02:13:59 it, it might've worked four years ago with those two guys, but it feels like they've
02:14:04 been through so many wars together and matured so much that they are kind of, yeah, they
02:14:10 don't care anymore and they just want to win.
02:14:12 I don't care.
02:14:13 Yeah.
02:14:14 And it's funny.
02:14:15 Like, you know, the, the, it was posed to drew drew holiday.
02:14:17 Like, Hey, did you hear what Jason, Jason kid had said about Jalen Brown being the best
02:14:22 player?
02:14:23 He's like, well, he is.
02:14:24 Okay.
02:14:25 What's the followup to that?
02:14:26 There's no followup.
02:14:27 And then, you know, Tatum after game two was like, man, golly, I need to, he literally
02:14:33 said golly too.
02:14:34 That's not me saying that.
02:14:35 He said, you know, he's like, I need to make some shots, but he's like, if, why is it,
02:14:41 why am I focusing on myself right now?
02:14:43 Making shots where we're winning two basketball games.
02:14:46 Other guys are playing great and we, you know, haven't won a championship.
02:14:51 What in 15, six, however many years it's been, Oh, wait.
02:14:58 Why would I care about myself missing shots right now?
02:15:01 So Jay, I mean, JB has been, Dan Brown has been great for them throughout the playoffs.
02:15:08 And at times he really is their best player.
02:15:11 So I do think it was, yeah, maybe a few years too late.
02:15:14 There's too much scar tissue.
02:15:16 There's too many layers to be peeled back.
02:15:18 You know, after so many tough losses for them, whether you're in the finals, these are conference
02:15:22 finals that no, they don't, they don't care.
02:15:25 They don't give a shit.
02:15:27 Yeah.
02:15:28 Yeah.
02:15:29 Probably smart on their part.
02:15:30 Like Dave dealt with this enough.
02:15:31 If you say at the start of a season, maybe it gets in the guy's head, but they're like,
02:15:33 this is too important right now.
02:15:34 We're in the NBA finals.
02:15:35 This is what we work for.
02:15:37 Those mind game, Jason kid's going to need to like spill a couple more Gatorades, I think
02:15:40 like step up, step up his game.
02:15:42 Yeah, the Gatorade throw.
02:15:43 Smart, man.
02:15:44 Yeah.
02:15:45 Smart.
02:15:46 That's a great adjustment.
02:15:47 I've never seen that before.
02:15:48 It was really good.
02:15:49 I got to ask you about Bill Walton.
02:15:51 So you guys have the, the UCLA connection.
02:15:54 Bill was, I, we can't call him a friend of ours.
02:15:57 We had him on the show one time, but he's such a unique dude and an interesting person
02:16:02 that he's a guy that will leave a mark on you whenever you meet him.
02:16:05 I'm assuming you got to spend a fair amount of time with Bill and just curious to know
02:16:08 from your perspective, like any, any great Bill Walton stories or anything that's going
02:16:13 to stick with you about getting to hang out with him?
02:16:15 Just the type of person he was.
02:16:18 I think that I was very fortunate to have been around him and got to spend time around
02:16:26 coach Woodin and Bill Walton at the same time, which for a 17 year old was incredibly special.
02:16:35 I think at the time, you know, I like to say it wasn't lost on me, but looking back and
02:16:40 really understanding who they were and what they meant to the game of basketball, obviously
02:16:47 coach Woodin, the overall game, but certainly the college basketball game, but Bill just
02:16:51 everywhere.
02:16:52 I mean, he was a force, a force of nature, somebody who was bigger than the game itself
02:17:01 made people feel a certain way, not only about him, but about life.
02:17:07 Every time you were around him, you just felt like what life is supposed to be about, like
02:17:12 the goodness of him and him.
02:17:15 But I can remember the first time that I spoke to him was when I was 16 years old, I was
02:17:22 getting recruited by UCLA coach Ben Hallon was, you know, he wanted me to take a call
02:17:29 and you know, it was about a 30 minute call because Bill likes to speak.
02:17:35 And he just told me probably two minutes about UCLA basketball, a couple minutes about, you
02:17:44 know, coach Woodin and the tradition of excellence.
02:17:46 But then he spoke about Pet Sounds, the Grateful Dead, the Beach Boys in that era for about
02:17:52 25 minutes.
02:17:53 And I was like, man, what a match, that guy was special.
02:17:58 But he was just somebody who, again, I watched growing up, I watched the Boston Celtics outlet
02:18:06 drills, I watched him on that 86 team, you know, being a six man, they always said playing
02:18:12 when he wanted to lean on stories about him from Kevin McHale, my first year in Minnesota,
02:18:19 obviously, furthering the big man tradition at UCLA was a huge thing for me.
02:18:27 He going there in 07, 08, and seeing his photo everywhere, hearing all the stories.
02:18:32 And it's funny, I know I'm a little bit all over the map here.
02:18:36 But Bill was, he's just a very special guy that meant so much to the league and he will
02:18:44 be solely missed.
02:18:45 Yeah,
02:18:46 yeah.
02:18:47 All right.
02:18:48 So Kevin, this has been awesome.
02:18:50 We love having you on.
02:18:51 I had one last question for you.
02:18:53 It's a rowback question, RHO, BACK.com, promo code take 20% off your first purchase.
02:18:58 Q-Zips, polos, hoodies, joggers, shorts, rowback.com, promo code take a go right now.
02:19:03 So the Olympics coming up.
02:19:05 Are you waiting to see if you make the team?
02:19:07 I'm not going to make the team this time.
02:19:09 We need to stand up for Kevin Love like people are doing for Caitlin Clark.
02:19:12 Be like this bullshit.
02:19:14 If you want to grow the game, you have Kevin Love in the Olympics.
02:19:18 Yeah, this is bullshit.
02:19:19 But you did win a gold medal in 2012 in London.
02:19:24 How awesome is it playing on the Olympic team?
02:19:28 Just being like, we're fucking, we're so much better than everyone.
02:19:31 It's pretty awesome.
02:19:37 But you know, and a lot of these teams that you play against, especially now the world
02:19:44 game across the board has gotten so much better.
02:19:48 And you see of those players that we mentioned earlier in the top five, what are four out
02:19:53 of the five non-American.
02:19:58 So it's amazing to see where the game has gone even since 2012 with the Olympics in
02:20:04 2010 with the world championships, where the game has grown to.
02:20:08 And also crazy, you know, when I look at those photos and you look to your left or your left,
02:20:14 you look to your right and you're like, okay, it's Kobe, young Kevin Durant, LeBron, Carmelo,
02:20:21 Russell Westbrook.
02:20:22 Yeah, it's just like, it's pretty wild to see, you know, just how good that team was.
02:20:29 But now you look in 2024, what that team is going to look like if and B does indeed play,
02:20:37 you know, in the starting five and throughout their entire team, who they're going to put
02:20:40 on the floor is really going to be, you know, special to watch.
02:20:43 And even though I didn't get picked for the team, I will still tune in and make sure that
02:20:48 I'm checking that out.
02:20:50 Although the women's, I don't know if Kevin Clark's on the team, I might not watch.
02:20:53 Yeah.
02:20:54 Everyone say, yeah, we're all boycotting.
02:20:56 Yeah.
02:20:57 Yeah.
02:20:58 Do you agree that if Jason Tatum was from Eastern Europe, that he would be in a top
02:21:02 five that he would be in the top five?
02:21:04 Yeah.
02:21:05 A lot of people are having the conversation.
02:21:07 If he was from Eastern Europe, is it anti-American bias?
02:21:11 Hank is just mad.
02:21:12 Hank is mad because Jason Tatum is the sixth best guy or seventh best player in the league.
02:21:17 And he gets upset that people don't put them as the third best player.
02:21:21 Oh, I, this is a lie.
02:21:23 They're gas.
02:21:24 There's levels to this.
02:21:25 There's a lot of chatter that, yeah, if you know, best player, best team, should he be
02:21:32 in the top five plays defense?
02:21:34 Unlike Luca.
02:21:35 Oh, thanks.
02:21:36 It's getting, that's gotta mean something.
02:21:43 No, I think, listen, it's, yeah, it's, it's tough to say.
02:21:49 I feel like this league is so, it's so much based on like your, your scoring output.
02:21:56 Now all the rules, everything is pretty much, you know, manufactured in order for guys to
02:22:03 score.
02:22:04 I think you look at a guy like Luca, who's averaging, you know, he's averaging 30, then
02:22:08 31, 32, 33, 34, 35 points a game, you know, and yeah, he's, they basically put him on
02:22:16 the, you know, weak side block to play defense.
02:22:19 So he just kind of has to tag guys in the, but he gets to save all his energy for offense.
02:22:24 His offense isn't defense, but no, I get what you mean.
02:22:26 Like Missoula, he does a great job of making sure that everybody that comes in, you have
02:22:32 to, you have to guard your man and if you switch, you have to, you have to, you know,
02:22:36 make it hard for the next guy.
02:22:37 I think Tatum does a really good job of that, but yeah, it's, I think it's hard for a lot
02:22:42 of people to put him in their top five and is that fair?
02:22:49 I don't know, but if he ends up winning a championship, I don't really think he'll give
02:22:52 a shit.
02:22:53 We need, we need it.
02:22:54 We need to, yeah, you won't either.
02:22:56 We need this.
02:22:57 We need the maps to at least win one game because it sucks that we're two games into
02:23:01 the NBA finals and we're doing a like, where's Jason Tatum rank, but that's what Hank does
02:23:05 to it.
02:23:06 Shut up.
02:23:07 I don't, I guess I have never cared about the gas lights.
02:23:09 I'm a team guy.
02:23:10 I'm a results guy.
02:23:11 I just want to win.
02:23:12 Kevin, Kevin, I got two games in, they have to win and Hank's like, Hey, I know a guest
02:23:16 we should have on.
02:23:17 It's Kevin Love.
02:23:18 Yeah, yeah, yeah.
02:23:19 He is our producer.
02:23:20 Yeah.
02:23:21 Oh, when it comes to the Olympics, what was that like for you?
02:23:23 Did you have to stay in the same Olympic village as like every other athlete or was there
02:23:28 a special section for multimillionaire superstar basketball players?
02:23:33 The latter, there was a special section for us, um, you know, kind of in the epicenter
02:23:38 of, of, of London at the time.
02:23:41 So we, uh, we didn't, we didn't stay in the, uh, the Olympic village, which was, uh, upsetting
02:23:48 because it was, I mean, it's like you're, you're, you know, back in a college type atmosphere
02:23:52 and, um, you're in, you're in the dorms and, uh, you just get to be around every other
02:23:58 country, every other athlete and, you know, kind of break bread with them.
02:24:01 But we, uh, we visited, but we, USA, we kind of had our spot off to the side and, um, took
02:24:07 a bit, a little bit tougher, uh, route logistically to get to where we needed to be.
02:24:13 But again, staying in the village would have been, uh, an experience.
02:24:17 Yeah.
02:24:18 All right.
02:24:19 Well, Kevin, thank you as always, man.
02:24:20 We appreciate it.
02:24:21 When, uh, the heat come to town next year in Chicago, you got to come in, come by and
02:24:25 check out the new office.
02:24:26 We'll, uh, maybe we'd love to run us through some drills, but, uh, appreciate it.
02:24:31 And, uh, we'll talk to you soon, man.
02:24:33 All right, gentlemen.
02:24:34 Appreciate you.

02:25:26 Okay, let's wrap up the show with pardon your take.
02:25:30 Uh, breaking news.
02:25:32 What's the breaking news?
02:25:38 Aaron Rogers is not attending mini camp and it is not excused per Robert Sala.
02:25:44 So he's going to get fined.
02:25:45 He said Rogers had a previous engagement, an event that is important to him.
02:25:50 Wait, mini camp.
02:25:51 No one goes to mini camp.
02:25:53 It's not excused.
02:25:54 It's not excused.
02:25:55 He's at an event.
02:25:57 Who cares?
02:25:58 The ayahuasca Olympics.
02:26:00 He's probably doing some politics stuff.
02:26:04 Maybe, maybe at the sphere.
02:26:05 So it's not a company.
02:26:06 Why would he, why would, why would Robert, why would he just say it's excused and not
02:26:10 make it a whole, like you're just basically asking for it to be a headline.
02:26:15 Yeah.
02:26:16 No reason.
02:26:17 Yeah.
02:26:18 Good job memes.
02:26:19 Way to figure it out.
02:26:20 Yeah, this is a nothing burger.
02:26:21 Nothing burger.
02:26:22 Nothing.
02:26:23 He's been all voluntary, uh, OTAs.
02:26:25 Unexcused.
02:26:26 Right.
02:26:27 So, but that's our point.
02:26:28 If it's a nothing burger, why wouldn't you just make it a nothing burger?
02:26:32 Yeah.
02:26:33 And he should have just said it's excused and then you give the Florios of the world
02:26:37 a headline.
02:26:38 Oh, the Florios.
02:26:39 Right, right.
02:26:40 What does that mean?
02:26:41 The Florios.
02:26:42 How many Florios are there?
02:26:43 So many Florios.
02:26:44 How many Florios?
02:26:45 Who are your top three Florios right now?
02:26:46 Uh, based on the two I saw, uh, so Florios one, Matt Miller, he's an NFL scout.
02:26:54 Wait, Florios the number one Florio.
02:26:56 Florios number one Florio.
02:26:57 And still.
02:26:58 Okay.
02:26:59 And still.
02:27:00 Matt Miller two, I just saw, I think he works for ESPN and Diane Rossini.
02:27:05 Diane is the number three Florio.
02:27:06 Yeah.
02:27:07 Wow.
02:27:08 Sounds like a little anti-Italian bias there.
02:27:10 Matt Miller.
02:27:12 Include Rich Semeny in there.
02:27:13 True Matt Miller in there.
02:27:15 Average is fine.
02:27:17 So wow.
02:27:18 Diana is the damn number three Florio.
02:27:21 Brutal.
02:27:22 Okay.
02:27:23 Then we've got a lot of Florios out there.
02:27:25 A lot of Florios.
02:27:27 Also Max, what's this, uh, Ben Simmons, Jason Tatum thing you keep retweeting.
02:27:31 I didn't people, people kept tagging me in it and I just wanted to tell them to stop
02:27:35 tagging me.
02:27:36 Okay.
02:27:37 So what is it?
02:27:38 Uh, it was just, it was just like a stat line that said that Ben Simmons had better stats
02:27:41 than Jason Tatum does in these playoffs.
02:27:45 In what way?
02:27:46 In the finals.
02:27:47 Ben Simmons was in the finals?
02:27:48 No, no, no.
02:27:49 Just like in his career compared to these finals.
02:27:52 Jason Tatum was just playing like Ben Simmons.
02:27:54 In his regular season career?
02:27:55 Jason Tatum was just playing like Ben Simmons in these finals.
02:27:57 He's averaging almost a triple double.
02:27:59 So did Ben Simmons.
02:28:01 In the regular season.
02:28:02 Yeah, but that's fine.
02:28:03 And what happened in the playoffs?
02:28:04 I told people to stop tagging me.
02:28:05 Do you think that this is a good strategy to get people to stop tagging you and stuff?
02:28:09 Yes.
02:28:10 I wanted them to stop.
02:28:11 It's just sad how much people hate.
02:28:13 I agree.
02:28:14 It's just not.
02:28:15 But like even I'm reading the first question that meme sent memes, hands, pixies, and he
02:28:18 goes, Hey PMT boys and Mavs max.
02:28:20 My take is that Jason Tatum is the NBA equivalent of Brock Purdy.
02:28:23 Like that is just, you have to reach so hard as a hater to come to that conclusion.
02:28:28 You really do.
02:28:29 I respect it though.
02:28:30 Same with Ben Simmons.
02:28:31 I respect it.
02:28:32 He's a, he's a system guard or a system number three.
02:28:35 It's okay.
02:28:36 But Hank, you are partially to blame for this.
02:28:38 No.
02:28:39 Yes you are.
02:28:40 The Jason Tatum discourse sucks because people try to put him in this top three, top five
02:28:47 range.
02:28:48 He's not, but there's a big difference.
02:28:51 Like I think the best is an awesome leader of the team.
02:28:54 That's the best team in the NBA and then potentially wins the NBA championship.
02:28:58 Yeah.
02:28:59 Those conversations deserve to be had.
02:29:00 Luca doesn't play defense.
02:29:02 Jason Tatum is awesome.
02:29:03 Jason Tatum plays defense.
02:29:06 Not on the same level as Luca and Jokic and like Giannis is just not the same, but that
02:29:14 I don't really care as much about the individual discourse.
02:29:16 But the problem is I just want the Celtics to win, but the problem is whenever, no, but
02:29:20 it's crazy how much people like Jason.
02:29:22 Oh wait, wait, that's not true because every time I've said, when I said Luca was better
02:29:25 than Tatum, you're like, you're a fucking Tatum hater.
02:29:28 You got mad at me for that.
02:29:30 Yeah.
02:29:31 Okay.
02:29:32 So then it's not true that like, that's my point is that you get, when I say, we'll just
02:29:36 diminish them.
02:29:37 They give them like, oh, he's not a fucking top five, top 10.
02:29:39 Like Shay has been good for one year.
02:29:42 But when I say that's not true.
02:29:44 When I say that top five level, no, but he's been, he's not, it's not just, this is the
02:29:49 first year that he's ever been good at basketball as a top five player.
02:29:53 Uh, he was really good the year before.
02:29:55 Wasn't he really good the year before and actually, I would not say it was a top five
02:29:58 player.
02:29:59 No, he wasn't.
02:30:00 He's not, Tatum is not a top five player either.
02:30:03 He's like seven, which is fine, which is awesome.
02:30:06 But that's, it's close enough where the conversation can be had.
02:30:08 Oh, I think there's levels to it that it's very different.
02:30:11 Putting Shia in there and just being like, oh yeah, he's a hundred percent top five.
02:30:14 He had a good year.
02:30:15 Wait, I didn't say Shay was, it was, was in the top five right now.
02:30:19 Got it.
02:30:20 I also, I'm you, you pretending like you don't get triggered anytime anyone says anything
02:30:24 even remotely bad about Tatum is a fucking lie.
02:30:27 I don't mind people saying it's not bad.
02:30:29 Max, you're right.
02:30:30 You go into the next loves because he knows I'm right.
02:30:32 Once you go with a liar for, I'm open to criticism.
02:30:36 I'm open to discourse.
02:30:37 No, once you throw up Ben Simmons, Ben Simmons for the record, I said I didn't want people
02:30:43 to tag me in that, but you're, you're, you're being completely disingenuous.
02:30:46 No, this is pure gaslighting.
02:30:47 You're going to go.
02:30:48 No, I'm not.
02:30:49 You're pretending Hank.
02:30:50 Hank saying I am completely open to open to criticism is ridiculous.
02:30:55 I take more criticism than anyone else.
02:30:58 Yeah, I mean, you're not open to it.
02:30:59 I'm super open to it.
02:31:00 Bring it on.
02:31:01 I think it gets brought on me every day.
02:31:03 You invite criticism.
02:31:04 Yeah, I exist.
02:31:05 Yes, that's the issue.
02:31:06 Yeah, that's it.
02:31:07 Also, the stack comparison is, it's very funny because it's comparing Tatum's finals of which
02:31:13 we have a sample size of two games.
02:31:15 Well, no, he falls warriors.
02:31:17 Oh no, 2024 finals.
02:31:19 It's just this year's finals and it's being compared to Simmons entire rookie year and
02:31:23 also only outside of the restricted area.
02:31:27 So they just kept, they kept throwing like little cat.
02:31:30 I defended Tatum's game two performance when people were saying he was trash.
02:31:35 You you're beat.
02:31:37 You are a dish ingenuous.
02:31:39 You are.
02:31:40 That's not true.
02:31:41 You are because you, anytime I would say that Tatum is not in that upper, upper level, you'd
02:31:45 be like, you fucking just hate him.
02:31:46 So the rest is still unwritten.
02:31:47 But volume six, seven is not an insult.
02:31:51 I never said it was.
02:31:52 Yes, you have.
02:31:53 I think a conversation could be made for calling them for top five.
02:31:55 So the fact is his game too, if you're just basing it off of an average player or not
02:32:01 an like the standard average winning player, Jason Tatum played a good game compared to
02:32:07 average.
02:32:08 He did not play a good game compared to like what you would expect from a top five player.
02:32:12 Staying healthy should matter.
02:32:14 Sure.
02:32:15 But the guys on your team matter.
02:32:17 The Celtics have an awesome team.
02:32:18 Tatum's an awesome player.
02:32:19 He's not the same as the top three or four guys in the league.
02:32:23 You're making people hate Jason Tatum.
02:32:24 Yes, that's my point.
02:32:25 He has made it because I'm reacting to, he wants Jason Tatum to be considered in the
02:32:30 level of the best player in the league.
02:32:32 He's just not, but that's okay.
02:32:34 It doesn't matter.
02:32:35 It doesn't mean that he's bad.
02:32:37 He's really fucking good.
02:32:38 He's going to have a career where he's like the fifth to seventh best player for a decade
02:32:43 plus it's going to be a hall of fame career.
02:32:45 You said five, six to seventh best player for a decade plus.
02:32:51 It's crazy.
02:32:52 Anytime somebody hates on Jason Tatum, they're really hating on Hank and you're becoming
02:32:57 an avatar of everybody that is a pain in the ass to root for Hank.
02:33:02 Yeah, whatever.
02:33:04 I'm just defending my guy.
02:33:06 Which I respect.
02:33:08 What is your guys' thoughts on if college football did a March Madness style bracket
02:33:11 with 68 instead of their playoffs?
02:33:13 You'd have so much football and hit on so many overs.
02:33:16 Ollie from Canada.
02:33:17 Are you talking about the regular season?
02:33:18 Yeah, that'd be the regular season.
02:33:19 No football wouldn't work.
02:33:22 What do you think is the perfect number of teams for college football playoffs?
02:33:26 I kind of like 12.
02:33:27 I think 16 get four extra games.
02:33:32 I kind of like 12.
02:33:34 Well I think they need to get rid of the conference championship because that feels like it should
02:33:42 just be the top two are automatically in.
02:33:45 The conference championship should actually be the third and the fourth best team playing
02:33:48 to get into the college football playoff, not the first and second.
02:33:53 Like Michigan and Ohio State though are going to be playing for, say Michigan and Ohio State
02:33:56 play for a conference championship, they're both already going to be in the playoff.
02:34:00 So it's like an added game that doesn't really, I know it's the home field advantage at stake,
02:34:06 but the only thing I would like to see is, I'm always in favor of as many ways for teams
02:34:13 to play their way in.
02:34:14 Leave it less to the voters.
02:34:16 It would be weird though if it was a conference championship and it was the third and the
02:34:19 fourth best team.
02:34:20 You just didn't call it a conference championship game.
02:34:21 You just called it a play in game.
02:34:25 You know what I mean?
02:34:26 I like being able to play as many games on the field as possible so it's not a judged
02:34:32 like, Oh, this team's resume versus this team's resume.
02:34:35 Just play it out.
02:34:36 Yeah.
02:34:37 Maybe you get Florida State to play against the second place team in the big 10 and Florida
02:34:40 State can beat them.
02:34:41 Then they're in.
02:34:42 16 teams?
02:34:43 16 and 12 to 16 is good, but I hope they don't expand it any further than that.
02:34:48 No, no.
02:34:49 I think that's the limit because once you get past 1260 it's teams that are, have some
02:34:55 big flaws that are, that would really, I don't think like deserve to play for a national
02:35:02 title.
02:35:03 Hey, big cat, PFT, Hank, and my brother Max from Philly.
02:35:08 Not enough people are talking about how Luca doesn't play defense and that if Jason Tatum
02:35:12 was from Europe, then everyone would be glazing him as hard as, wait, I thought Meme set it
02:35:17 up for you.
02:35:18 Yeah, this was a good one.
02:35:19 Oh, interesting.
02:35:20 If Jason Tatum was European, if he was, if he was Slovak, what would happen?
02:35:26 You didn't even read the Brock Purdy one.
02:35:28 Yeah, you didn't read the Brock Purdy one.
02:35:30 Well, yeah, I stopped it at the first sentence because it was so stupid.
02:35:32 Yeah, right.
02:35:33 It basically just said that Brock Purdy has good players around him and he's a good player,
02:35:37 but he has good players around him, which makes him a better player.
02:35:39 But remember, Hank's open to criticism.
02:35:41 He just won't finish the question.
02:35:43 Well, you just started screaming.
02:35:44 No, you started.
02:35:45 You said.
02:35:46 I'm disingenuous.
02:35:47 No, you said that.
02:35:49 That's a bold, that's a, those are fighting words.
02:35:52 You are.
02:35:53 I'm not.
02:35:54 I'm genuine as fuck.
02:35:55 Okay.
02:35:56 Brock Purdy was almost the MVP.
02:35:57 True.
02:35:58 Take that as a compliment.
02:35:59 Yeah.
02:36:00 Would you say that Brock Purdy is one of the top three QBs at any point?
02:36:05 It's it's the, no, I would not.
02:36:09 Oh, interesting.
02:36:11 And the fact that like it's, he's had nothing but success.
02:36:17 Brock Purdy has not had nothing but success.
02:36:19 He literally has had nothing but success.
02:36:20 He was a six round pick.
02:36:21 He was a six round pick.
02:36:22 Oh, well that's not success.
02:36:23 Do you have draft, draft order now?
02:36:24 Well, yeah, if he had nothing but success, he would have been successful in college.
02:36:29 He would have been successful.
02:36:30 You know, he would have got drafted higher.
02:36:31 How far, how successful was Jason Tatum in college?
02:36:34 He scored a lot.
02:36:35 He was good.
02:36:36 Brock Purdy scored a lot in college.
02:36:37 He would have been drafted three.
02:36:38 Oh, that's a good question.
02:36:39 Uh, AWL Robbie from Mass, which will happen first, the process being completed or Max
02:36:42 hitting the lottery ball?
02:36:43 Oh, that's a good question.
02:36:45 The problem is the process we've talked about.
02:36:47 This will never be complete.
02:36:49 They can keep it going forever.
02:36:50 It's always up for debate.
02:36:51 Yeah.
02:36:52 Yeah.
02:36:53 It's really the butterfly effect.
02:36:54 Unless they win, then, then it's complete.
02:36:57 Then it's complete.
02:36:58 Yeah.
02:36:59 But that's not going to happen.
02:37:00 Yeah.
02:37:01 All right.
02:37:02 Last one.
02:37:03 What's up, Maddie?
02:37:04 My theories of Tennessee Titans draft Matt Leiner, not Vince Young, the Titans would've
02:37:05 won at least one Super Bowl.
02:37:07 No.
02:37:08 Four, USC wins the Natty back to back.
02:37:10 Oh, five, the Titans hire Norm Chow.
02:37:12 USC makes it back to the Natty in '05, but narrowly lose to Texas.
02:37:16 The Tits owner, Bud Adam, being a Texas guy, drafts Young with third overall.
02:37:21 The Tits end up drafting Lindell White in the second and Leinhart went 10th overall.
02:37:25 Now, you cannot tell me if we had almost three Pete National Champ, OC, Heisman QB, backup
02:37:31 power back, and two years later draft CJ2K that the Tits wouldn't have at least won one
02:37:38 Super Bowl.
02:37:39 It's some all time fan fiction.
02:37:40 These are also the years Titans had Bullock, KVB, and PFT's boy Albert Hainsworth on defense.
02:37:45 Interested to hear your thoughts.
02:37:47 So basically you're saying like just keep USC together.
02:37:50 Yeah.
02:37:51 Yeah.
02:37:52 They're trying to-
02:37:53 Yeah, keep USC together.
02:37:54 They're doing it with the Eagles.
02:37:55 They're like the Eagles.
02:37:56 No, the Knicks.
02:37:59 The Eagles too.
02:38:00 But Knicks with Nova.
02:38:01 Yeah, the Georgia, but yeah, Knicks with Nova.
02:38:05 I don't mind this level of cope because then you can just look back and say, "Yeah, we
02:38:08 basically won a Super Bowl."
02:38:10 Yeah.
02:38:11 But also Vince Young was very, very good his rookie year.
02:38:14 Yeah.
02:38:15 He showed some promise.
02:38:16 Yeah.
02:38:17 Did he win rookie of the year?
02:38:18 He did.
02:38:19 Yeah.
02:38:20 And now he's reduced to playing pro-ams on the golf tour.
02:38:23 Yeah, doing interviews.
02:38:24 Wasn't he on a Madden cover?
02:38:27 He was.
02:38:28 Yes, he was.
02:38:29 He was.
02:38:30 Yeah.
02:38:31 Hank, do you ... I feel like we didn't end this thing.
02:38:33 No, we're good.
02:38:34 We got two games left.
02:38:36 Peter Cox on the road.
02:38:37 You're just-
02:38:38 I just can't wait for him to drop like 240 pieces and win.
02:38:41 Then it's like literally-
02:38:42 So what happens if he doesn't?
02:38:43 And we win the championship, then he's still the leader of a championship team.
02:38:47 Hank, have you thought about what has to happen if the Celtics win?
02:38:51 Yes.
02:38:52 Someone reminded me that.
02:38:53 Yeah.
02:38:54 You have to shave your head.
02:38:55 Okay.
02:38:56 Great.
02:38:57 Yeah.
02:38:58 I'll get to it.
02:38:59 I'll get to it.
02:39:00 I mean, we just don't like ... I'll get to it.
02:39:02 You're just never going to do it?
02:39:03 Eventually.
02:39:04 When's that?
02:39:05 You told Derek White you would do it.
02:39:08 And I will.
02:39:09 And we'll have Derek White back on and be like, "Why isn't your head shaved?"
02:39:12 If he's back-
02:39:13 And what's your answer?
02:39:14 If he's here, if he comes back in here, I'll-
02:39:15 No, no, no.
02:39:16 He'll be on soon.
02:39:17 You said that you would do it.
02:39:18 I will do it.
02:39:19 That's my-
02:39:20 So when he comes back on the show?
02:39:21 No, I give you my word that I will shave my head if the Celtics win a championship.
02:39:23 So when he comes back on the show, you'll make sure that your head's shaved for him?
02:39:27 I will do it.
02:39:28 Are you saying that you're not going to do it now?
02:39:30 I will do it.
02:39:31 So are you ... When Derek White is back on the show after the Celtics win the title and
02:39:35 he's like, "Hey, where's my guy Hank?
02:39:37 He's got his head shaved."
02:39:38 EFT still doesn't have a perm.
02:39:39 I have at least two years.
02:39:41 I don't know when that bet was from, but you've given me a two-year window to shave my head.
02:39:45 All time deflections.
02:39:46 Once you get the perm, that's when the window closed.
02:39:49 That's the statute of limitations.
02:39:50 Beams.
02:39:51 When we have to pay off our bets.
02:39:52 Get the perm people.
02:39:53 You've called the perm.
02:39:54 Get the perm people.
02:39:55 I'm willing to do the perm at any time.
02:39:56 All right.
02:39:57 I'm willing to do the perm.
02:39:58 That's what I'm saying.
02:39:59 I will shave my head.
02:40:00 Always willing.
02:40:01 I will definitely shave my head.
02:40:02 Beams told me it was happening in the live stream when I got the tattoo.
02:40:05 I was ready to do both.
02:40:06 Don't know what happened to the perm person.
02:40:08 Yeah, but once you close the perm bet, then that's the window that I have to shave my
02:40:13 head.
02:40:14 No, Hank, now you're being disingenuous.
02:40:16 He's being very disingenuous.
02:40:17 That's genuine as fuck.
02:40:18 All day.
02:40:19 You're the leader of the show.
02:40:21 Hank, you are the host of part of my take.
02:40:23 You're the host.
02:40:24 You're being disingenuous, Hank.
02:40:26 No, I'm being genuine.
02:40:27 I don't think it's a word.
02:40:29 It is, and Hank's being it.
02:40:32 It's literally just look at Hank right now, disingenuous.
02:40:34 Wait, you don't think disingenuous is a word, Jake?
02:40:36 No, genuine.
02:40:37 Oh, no, genuine is definitely not a word.
02:40:38 Yeah, no, but that's fine.
02:40:39 Genuine.
02:40:40 Genuine.
02:40:41 Genuine.
02:40:42 Yeah.
02:40:43 He's being a genuine schlong.
02:40:44 Genuine.
02:40:45 Winona Ryder.
02:40:46 Got you there.
02:40:47 It is Winona Judd.
02:40:48 That's where I learned Winona.
02:40:49 Still, but that doesn't ... It's Winona Ryder.
02:40:52 She's going to take whatever I call her.
02:40:54 Disingenuous.
02:40:56 I'm a man of my word.
02:40:59 What bet have I not paid up on?
02:41:00 Wait, we need to go back and look at the actual transcript of that, because I'm ... Did you
02:41:04 say that there was a time frame when you'd shave your head?
02:41:07 No.
02:41:08 Yeah, right after.
02:41:09 No, because as you guys were saying it, I knew-
02:41:12 Oh, stop it.
02:41:13 Oh, that was a perm bet?
02:41:14 You knew in the back of your head that the perm bet would come to you?
02:41:16 Well, it's like you guys have set the example.
02:41:18 You guys are the leaders of this show.
02:41:19 What have I not done?
02:41:20 I don't know.
02:41:22 I could find something.
02:41:24 Okay.
02:41:25 But PFT, like-
02:41:27 I'm willing to do the perm.
02:41:28 Factor of fiction.
02:41:29 Factor of fiction.
02:41:30 There's not much I can do.
02:41:31 The perm hurts.
02:41:32 The perm hurts.
02:41:33 The perm hurts.
02:41:34 If there's a perm capable person that's in the building right now, I'll get a perm right
02:41:37 now.
02:41:38 I've never tried to stop the perm.
02:41:40 I've actively encouraged the perm.
02:41:43 All right, let's finish up.
02:41:44 Numbers.
02:41:45 I will shave my head if the Celtics win the championship.
02:41:48 For Derek White, when he comes back on.
02:41:51 Next season.
02:41:52 No.
02:41:53 You don't have a choice.
02:41:54 Again, if you're upset with me, get upset with him.
02:41:58 All right, so if you're upset with me, look in the mirror, buddy.
02:42:02 Worst case scenario, when was the perm bet?
02:42:04 That was the Eagles.
02:42:06 That's November, December, January, February, March, April, May, June.
02:42:10 Eight months.
02:42:11 Okay, great.
02:42:12 Middle of December.
02:42:13 Look at the transcript.
02:42:14 Tank said, "Yeah, I'll shave my head when we win."
02:42:16 When?
02:42:17 You said when we win.
02:42:19 All right, numbers.
02:42:21 Eight.
02:42:22 Twenty.
02:42:23 Twenty.
02:42:24 Three.
02:42:25 Did you say 20?
02:42:27 I said 20.
02:42:28 I'll do 56.
02:42:29 Yeah, you paused on it.
02:42:30 I don't know what was going on there.
02:42:31 Yeah, that's on me.
02:42:32 You ever gotten it?
02:42:33 Eight.
02:42:34 No.
02:42:35 Do you want to switch?
02:42:36 I just said that.
02:42:37 No.
02:42:38 Oh, you did?
02:42:39 No.
02:42:40 You don't want to switch.
02:42:41 88.
02:42:42 21.
02:42:43 44.
02:42:44 Halfway there.
02:42:45 Damn.
02:42:46 I'll do 50.
02:42:47 I'll do 50.
02:42:48 I'll do 50.
02:42:53 I'll do 50.
02:42:55 I'll do 50.
02:43:00 I'll do 50.
02:43:05 I'll do 50.
02:43:10 I'll do 50.
