Democracy Day: Citizens protest good governance in Lagos State

00:00As the nation celebrates June 12th, Democracy Day, political activists and youths gather
00:13in Agege and Ikeja, Lagos, to protest peacefully while security personnel are heavily present
00:20to prevent any form of violence.
00:32The protesters are calling on political leaders and relevant stakeholders to reflect on and
00:38deliver the true meaning of democracy, end all forms of attacks against democratic rights
00:44and tackle pressing issues in the country.
01:14Because it's a day that we will remember that some of our colleagues died in the course
01:18of their believer struggle.
01:20Today is symbolic because today is one day that we will remember that there was an election
01:26that was held, free and fairest, most transparent election ever in the country of this country,
01:33but was annulled by military.
01:36So it becomes very symbolic and that's why we are all here.
01:39As the nation celebrates 25 years of democracy, Nigerians hope that the nation will truly
01:45reap the dividends of democracy.
